UK Teachers Union Demands Imams Be Allowed toTeach Students
The National Union of Teachers or "NUT" is demanding Imams be allowed into British classrooms to teach about the Koran in state sponsored "faith" schools.Faith schools are part of the UK state sponsored system, in essence, these schools are not private. The union held a conference from which a list of demands evolved, demands which involve the inclusion of instruction of other faiths, mainly that of Islam. One such demand was that Imams should come into the schools to teach about the Islam faith and the Koran.Steve Sinnot, the General Secretary of NUT, therefore one of the head "NUTs" believes letting Imams into the Christian faith schools to teach about the Koran will go a long way towards "reuniting communities".We wondered, just how does one become an Imam? What mosque would this Imam c

      God mourns for the Imams?
“Faith in the imams cures cancer and makes the lame walk… I’ve seen it with my own eyes, you’ve all seen it too”The little man with the microphone. Unshaven, wearing a faded mismatched suit. Reminded me of snake oil sellers in Western movies. Do Iranians really hold beliefs so out of step with the given scientific mindset of the times? This was a speaker to the masses. He appeared to know his audience, and the 1000 toman notes were flowing. From what I can gather, the folk legends surrounding the Imams arise from more sources than one. There is the history. Events of the time are well documented and acknowledged also by Sunnis but this only provides the barest framework. Woven into the history are parables of the strength of Abol Fazl, the moral uprightness of Hossein, the justice

“Flying Imams” Lawsuit Upheld Against US Airways
A federal judge has ruled that a lawsuit filed by a group of imams against US Airways and a Minneapolis airport can proceed. U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery said in a 41-page opinion late yesterday that the imams, who say they were discriminated against when they were removed from a flight last year, have a plausible claim that their constitutional rights may have been violated. The imams “have adequately stated a claim” that airport police may have “seized plaintiffs in violation of their Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures,” Judge Montgomery ruled. Those Imams have a lot of nerve to sue the airlines. I wonder what the Prophet Muhammad would say about frivolous lawsuits and greed. Those are things you expect from an “infidel,” but not a group of distinguished Imams, especially “flying” Imams. The fact that something like six different passengers complained to the aircrew about the behavior of the

      Flying imams case to proceed
CAIR is going to be so happy about this. The judge with whom US Airways filed to dismiss the case has not only refused to dismiss it, she's even spoken in the favor of the imams (via LGF): MINNEAPOLIS - Six Muslim imams arrested on a U.S. Airways jet in Minneapolis last November after a passenger raised suspicions about their pre-flight prayers and boarding activities won an early victory Tuesday

Flying imams finally drop lawsuit against heroic John Does
Michelle Malkin has just gotten word that the troublemaking Muslims who caused a needless hubbub at the Minneapolis airport have finally dropped any mention of the John Does from the lawsuit they filed. Now, if they're smart, they'll drop their suit against the airport as well and stop trying to undermine law enforcement and security.More from Hot Air.

“Flying Imams” Drop Lawsuit Against Vigilent Citizens
Today the “flying Imams” dropped their lawsuits against the concerned citizens that reported their extremely suspicious behavior aboard an airplane. They have not dropped the lawsuit against the airline or it’s employees however. If you are unfamiliar with this story, you can read about it here.   This is great news for the citizens who reported the behavior, which included the Imams speaking about hating America, praising Saddam and Osama as verified by another Muslim not with the group who translated what the Imams were saying. Evidently these passengers were not racially profiling this Muslim, just the ones who arranged themselves in the same positions as the 9/11 terrorists, asked for seat-belt extenders even though they didn’t need them, and condemned America.  Now we just need to have them drop the lawsuit altogether. Now that they are not suing the passengers for reporting them, they have no basis, in my opinion, to sue the people who responded to th

Few UK imams ‘come from Britain’
Only eight per cent of imams preaching in British mosques were born in the UK, BBC-commissioned research suggests. “The research, for BBC News and the BBC Asian Network, also suggests that only 6% of imams in Britain speak English as a first language. And almost 45% of imams have been in the UK for less than five years, the report adds. Some 66% of imams speak Urdu as a first language with 52% giving sermons in the language. It also suggests that 6% of imams arrived in the UK in the past 12 months with 23% being in the UK for more than 10 years.” Professor Geaves said: “The study reveals a deeply conservative body of individuals maintaining traditional languages, types of qualification and still largely recruited from the place of origin. The imams were “overwhelmingly” qualified in the traditional Islamic curriculum, which he said had changed little since medieval times. Although there are social religious and political reasons that drive a need to transf

Two of them are attending a rally in support of Rafil Dhafir, a convicted Hamas supporter who was also funneling to "charities" in Iraq (H/T: Michelle Malkin). Note that one of the villains indicted in this case is Mufid Abdulquader, the half-brother of Khaled Mashaal of the Hamas. In other words, it's "back to business" for these criminals.

Imams Sue Airline PassengersMainstream Iowan previously covered this story... Six Muslim men removed from a plane last fall after being accused of suspicious behavior are suing not only the airline but the passengers who complained - a move some fear could discourage travelers from speaking up when they see something unusual. The civil rights lawsuit, filed earlier this month, has so alarmed some lawyers that they are offering to defend the unnamed "John Doe" passengers free of charge. They say it is vital that the flying public be able to report suspicious behavior without fear of being dragged into court."When you drive up the road towards the airport, there's a big road sign that says, 'Report suspicious behavior,'" said Gerry Nolting, a Minneapolis lawyer. Standing up to the flying imams
Power Line has launched a campaign for standing up to the flying imams with a special logo (via Michelle Malkin). And the GOP has introduced special legislature to protect witnesses from being prosecuted:House Republicans are pushing legislation to protect airline passengers from lawsuits for reporting suspicious behavior that might be linked to a terrorist attack.Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, introduced the Protecting Americans Fighting Terrorism Act of 2007 on Thursday, a week after a lawsuit was filed by a group of Muslim imams who were taken off a US Airways flight in November. It is "unconscionable" that those who report suspicious activity could be "terrorized in our own court system in our own country," Mr. Pearce said on the House floor yesterday afternoon.People should not be persecuted for doing a service to the public by reporting for the sake of safety.Others on the subject include 911 Families for a Secure America, The Mighty Righty, Sweet Spirits of Ammonia, Th

AIFD: Not All Muslims Support CAIR Plan to Sue U.S. Airways on Behalf of Six Imams
Finally some moderate Muslims are speaking out. You probably remember a few months back when some Muslim Imams were removed from a US Airways jet after passengers and crew reported them for being loud, disruptive and refusing to take their assigned seats. They were interviewed then later released.I always thought it was an intentional “test case” for some radical Islamic group and now CAIR is acting on their behalf. The Imams have filed lawsuits not only against US Airways but the individual passengers that reported them as well. They should take a Dale Carnegie course. This is just dumb. Now a reasonable American Muslim group has offered to pay for any legal fees for the passengers being sued by the radical Imams. They rightly feel that the actions taken by the Imams will only hurt the cause of all Muslims. Below is a press release off of their website at: http://www.aifdemocracy.org/ I sincerely wish them luck with their cause and I will add their site to my links list. ~RJH Press

Flying imams in Minneapolis now want to persecute the passengers on US Airways
Remember the flying imams in Minneapolis? Since their attempt to reach an out-of-court settlement with US Airways didn't yield them the results they wanted, they've turned again to suing them for "humiliating" them, and not only that, they even want to sue the passengers who boldly turned to the airplane staff to complain. As the Washington Times reports:"If such a suit could proceed, it would have a chilling effect on the willingness of people to provide information that authorities need to act when people are engaged in wrongdoing," said Mark Behrens, a liability defense lawyer with the Washington firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon."If reporting suspicious behavior becomes actionable, that could have a dangerous precedent for reporting other crimes, like child abuse and abductions," Mr. Behrens said. "It's certainly a form of intimidation to go after passengers."The lawsuit primarily targets US Airways and the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Airports Commission, but suing passengers w

Imams convicted for attempting to buy illegal weapons for terrorists
Yassin Aref, the imam who attempted to buy weapons from undercover agents so that he could give them in turn to terrorists in Pakistan, was convicted today for his planned crimes, but the sentence is simply not enough, and there's sob story material in here to boot:ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Two leaders of an Albany mosque who were snared in an FBI sting involving a fictional terror strike were sentenced Thursday to 15 years in federal prison. The former imam, Yassin Aref, professed innocence before his sentencing and criticized the government's treatment of Muslims."I never had any intention to harm anyone in this country," said Aref, a 36-year-old Kurdish refugee. "And I don't know why I'm guilty."Pizzeria owner Mohammed Hossain, a founder of the Masjid As-Salam mosque, said in a voice choked with emotion that he knew nothing about bombs and terrorism."I do not know why it was me who was chosen. I was not a criminal," he said. "I was not even thinking of committing a crime."Typical AP re

US Airways should say no to pressure from flying imams
The imams who intimidated passengers at Minneapolis' airport have been trying - get this - to reach an out of court settlement with US Airways over their removal, which was doubtless what they were hoping for so they could then play victim. Debbie Schlussel has some contact info for the company, and I too would strongly recommend calling to tell them not to give in to those villains. It was all a setup, intended to try and lead to weakening airline security, and it's imams themselves who owe some money in fines to the airport for disturbing the peace. Another contact link can be found here. The Wash. Times reports: A group of Muslim imams is seeking an out-of-court settlement with US Airways, saying they should not have been removed from a Minnesota-to-Phoenix flight last month and were not behaving suspiciously. Five of the six Islamic religious leaders have retained the Council on American-Islamic Relations for legal representation and are seeking a "mutually agreeable" resolution

Malkin talks about the imams misbehaving on the plane
Hot Air's got a recording of Michelle Malkin's discussion on O'Reilly about those misbehaving, anti-American imams who deliberately provoked the crowd on a plane in Minneapolis.Speaking of which, the imams just recently staged a protest at Reagan airport in Washington as well (via Jammie Wearing Fool), continuing on with their sob-story routine with a couple of other apologists and dhimmis accompanying them as well.Update: and here's Michelle's Vent to go with it. Age of Hooper also recorded their sob-story continuation at the Reagan Airport. Note that rabbi named Arthur Waskow, who appears to be very friendly with Cindy Sheehan. They certainly know whom to turn to for backing up their sob-story routine, don't they?Michelle also points to Audrey Hudson's study of how the imams sought to terrorize the airliner. Plus, Power Line found some important info from Soliah.Com about the extended seatbelts the imams were using:I believe the seat belt extensions create a serious airline se

Six imams detained at Minneapolis airport
The reason is because they basically tried to intimdate the other passengers. This letter on Jihad Watch thanking the authorities for doing their job can help give some insight into that. CAIR goes whining again, and should again be told to sit down and shut up. Here's an article on Breitbart about it (via Michelle Malkin), and here's some more telling info from Robert Spencer about one of the imams, Omar Shahin, who's got connections with al Qaeda and the Hamas. It's important to note that certain Democratic leaders in Congress, like Nancy Pelosi, want to try and criminalize airport investigations of Muslims, as Front Page Mag warns. If we want to keep the airlines safe, we need to be ready to face them.I see that Muslims leaders are calling for a boycott of US airlines. Good. We could always do with less crowdedness anyway.Update: as noted in this report, the imams made anti-American comments about the war in Iraq too.Others on the subject include Bill's Bites, Little Green Footb
