Wanokoto Webapp Turns Photos Old-Timey [Image Editing] The Red Ferret Journal points out a slick, Japanese upload-and-convert tool for giving photos that browned-out, decades-old look. Select a photo or paste in a URL (both words are written in English, as luck would have it), and hit the bottom blue button. The photo results aren't returned at full resolution, but, depending on lighting, quality, and, of course, modernity of subject, you can get pretty authentic-looking results without any image editor filters or plug-ins. The site is free to use, and (it appears) doesn't restrict upload file sizes. Photographers are welcoming some major changes in the way Getty Images handles its stock photography workflow – changes designed to decrease the role of art directors and turn more editing over to the photographers.More of Getty's workflow is moving online, and the company is planning to introduce a new portal for uploading images later this year. The changes adopt some of the same workflow techniques favored by micropayment stock sites, including Getty-owned iStockPhoto. Some Getty contributors will no longer be assigned a specific art director, but will be expected to self-edit their own work and submit it online in high-resolution format. In many cases, further editing will be done by the first available Getty editor. This will speed the process of getting images from the photographer into the Getty system. At the same time, photographers will have access to new editing guidelines and Getty's creative research reports, intelligence that previously was available only to art directo
