RAmos iShine Q18 vs iRiver E100The Q18 is the new kid on the block while this is face-off number 2 for the E100 (see face-off number one). The RAmos’s MUMU iShine Q18 PMP is undeniably a lookalike of the iRiver E100. Both are cute boxy players, the E100 perhaps having the more interesting dial pad up against the iShine’s Chocolatey touch-sensitive keys. Both have 2.4 inches of viewing real est

iriver's cute little Lplayer gets reviewediriver's Lplayer, which we just got done handling ourselves, made it over to the review crew at PC Magazine. Upon using the admittedly wee device, they seemed to have problems getting the click buttons to respond like they wanted, but aside from that, hardly

iriver's W7 portable media player gets reviewedYeah, we had our fun just toying with the W7 at iriver's CES booth earlier this year, but the lucky souls at Pocketables were able to secure one long enough to write up a full-blown review. Straight out of the packaging, critics found the design to be attractive enough, albeit a tad chunky; particularly with this device, we'd say opinions on sexiness will vary widely depending on what floats your boat. Nevertheless, reviewers found the touch panel easy enough to navigate, and thankfully, the perceived audio quality was dubbed 'great.' Those interested in the video capabilities will be delighted to know that all was well on that front too, as the slew of welcome extras (FM tuner, text viewer, e-dictionary, etc.) were all praised. Now, if only t
The fun factor isn't so important in, say, a lawnmower or a dishwasher, but a portable media player should be fun to use, and the E100 just isn't. This player looks sweet and offers robust audio file support, as well as extras like line-in recording and a microSD slot, but it just doesn't deliver in the usability department. The controls aren't intuitive, and since the user manual is thin and vague, you can end up spending a lot of time fiddling with buttons and options until the player does what you want it to. I expected more from the manufacturers of the excellent Clix and the Clix gen 2. Ultimately, the frustration of navigating the E100 outweighs the player's laudable feature set.The player comes in 4GB ($110 street) and 8GB ($160) capacities and resembles the flash-memory-based Micro

iriver E100 hands-onWe just got a special surprise on our doorstep this afternoon in the form of an E100 from iriver. You've already seen the review, so we won't bore you with a full rehash, but suffice it to say that this thing is well built but feels suspiciously lightweight -- not to mention inexplicably thick. The software is all nice and responsive, though it takes a bit of getting used to the d-click interface, and while you're certainly not going to get much mileage out of the built-in speaker, it is a nice touch. The screen is great straight on, but suffers from some viewing angle woes. We really can't fault the player for much, but there's nothing too compelling here to make us leave any members of our current assortment of DAPs. Video is after the break.Gallery: iriver E100 hands
The iRiver NV Life comes in with a cool 7 inch screen that can make multimedia viewing as interesting as ever. It has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The NV in the name has surely got something to do with the navigation feature that comes in this one. it's not like your everyday PMP since its got a SatNav system inbuilt in it. It uses the SiRF Star III GPS for navigational purposes. The device runs on the WinCE 5.0 operating system and has a FM transmitter. The NV Life also stuffs in DMB TV and has a pretty huge list of supported media formats to talk of. The iRiver NV Life is available in a 2 GB variant for 328,000 ($367) or a 4GB one for 358,000 ($400).
AVING writes: “Reigncom (www.reigncom.com) announced the launch of its new navigation device ‘iriver NV Life’ in Korea market, which is the follow-up to the iriver NV released in last August.”
IRiver has recently launched a new PMP, the E100. This loaded player comes equipped with plenty of all round features that include memory expansion via microSD cards. It’s also a neatly designed player with dimensions like - 3.65" x 1.88" x 0.44" and weighs in at just about 2.09 ounces. Its 2.4 inch TFT QVGA display has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels so video viewing won’t be a problem at all.
iRiver E100 Review Pocketables has published the first comprehensive review of iRiver’s simple PMP. The E100 is not the thinnest mini-PMP out there but, as we have remarked before, this little device got style. There are a few disappointments like the supposed D-Click control, so it’s even far behind other iRiver models announced at CES that will use the new SPINN controls. The control pad is a more traditional affair with four arrows as controls and a middle button as the OK button. Other disappointments are the poor quality of the stereo speakers and a microSD storage that is not integrated with the built-in memory. Plus points include the design, of course, automatic landscape orientation (right side only for video playback) but up to 270 degrees for photos and the 24-hour audio and

iriver's clix+ with DMB now availableWe're sorry for being selfish, but we can't hide our disappointment at this clix+ packing an upgrade for Koreans and Koreans alone. Don't get us wrong, DMB is a great upgrade that any PMP should be proud of, we just wished it did more for own portable viewing experience -- we're still stuck in that early 20th century model of downloading content and transcoding it for our later viewing enjoyment. Anyways, enough about us. The clix 'plus' is just a basic 4GB or 8GB clix DAP with the addition of a DMB tuner, so not much more to see here. The 4GB goes for 218,000 won (about $235 US) while the 8GB is 278,000 won (about $300 US).(Via Engadget.)

iRiver w7 PMP Europe Price iRiver recently announced a price for the new upcoming iRiver W7 PMP, the suggested retail prices are 215 Euros for the 8GB version and 175 Euros for 4GB Verion. Released date for the product in the US and Europe are unkown at the moment. It features 480 x 272 pixel lcd screen, works with Flash Lite 2 and plays formats MPEG-4, WMA, WMV9, MPEG1/2/2.5 layer3, JPG, TXT, SSC, SWF, edictionary and plays for up to 20 hours.
