One of my posts (this one) is being featured on Blog Nosh today. Since one or two people may be clicking over I thought it would be nice if I put up a little “welcome” post today. It’s the neighborly thing to do.
I’ll start with the basics. My name is T. I work [...]

The most important thing to remember is that you’re one half of a partnership. Your horse is not a machine; He’ll have his good and bad days, just like you. It’s important that he can put trust in you and your judgement. So you can work together even when things aren’t going your way. ~~from Chestnut Hill (All Or Nothing), by Lauren Brooke Words of wisdom. It’s very easy to think your h
Howdy Doody was a children’s television program (with a decidedly frontier/western theme, although other themes also colored the show) that aired on NBC in the United States from 1947 until 1960. It was a pioneer in children’s programming and set the pattern for many similar shows. It was also a pioneer in early color production [...]
Thousands of Republican voters across America breathed a sigh of relief Tuesday when the Obama campaign revealed that the Democratic presidential hopeful was a distant cousin of the 50s television icon Howdy Doody."For the first time, I feel comfortable voting for Obama," said Gerald Burgermeister, who was considering voting for John McCain. "Anyone related to old Howdy has to be alright. I knew
I don’t have much of a history of blogging, so I am not really up to date on introduction ‘etiquette’ for these things. The blurb on our header pretty much sums up what this blog is for and who we are. There are two of us: Aymi (who will introduce herself when she gets a chance), and myself, Laurel. To kick off this baby, I thought I would post an awesome piece of art I came across on Waterhaw

~Snooper~I have been monitoring and following the plethora of blog posts and news outlets on a particular subject to detect a deeper revelation in regards to the recent developments in England. Oddly enough, I haven't seen any "major" news outlets reporting on this subject. I wonder why this would be. Are they waiting to see what happens and then whine and complain? Or, are they waiting for a "scoop" as the dust, fire and smoke clears to claim that no one did anything about it before it happened? Just curious. The subject? Glad you asked.Britain monitoring 30 terror plots: Home SecretaryLONDON (AFP) - British police and security agencies are keeping tabs on 30 terror plots, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith told a Sunday newspaper. "There are 22,000 individuals who are being monitored. Th
Are you tired of playing always the same kind of games one time and another. Now you can play a different game, eye catching, colourful, fast and very interesting. Bang! Howdy is a mixture of real time and turn based strategy which will surprise you.
"Human Touch (Remix)" - Rick Springfield
It's everybody's other favorite Springfield (Long live Homer & Co.), Rick. Don't call him Bruce. The year is 1983 and Aussie-born Springfield launches the last of his deep-space probes. In a freak mishap, Ranger 3 and it's pilot, Captain William "Buck" Rog...er, sorry. Rick dropped his 7th album, "Living In Oz" in '83. It was also one of the very first
Ok, I’m back. Sorry about that. While indeed I have seemingly taken a hiatus from the blog, in reality I had been supporting the Writer’s Strike by not posting. Recently, however, I discovered that the Writer’s Guild covers, in fact, only television and movie writers, and not blog writers. I have stopped [...]
Hi guys, thanks for dropping by. I hope all of you have a great day. My day wasn't bad at all despite of my situation right now. I guess I have to deal with it for the time being. But it's okay, I'm not complaining here. Even though I'm not feeling well, I loved being with my family and kids.
I find I get one of two possible reactions from people when they see me walking around with my camera: either the nasty sneer or the come-hither and take our snaps. Occassionally there is the third reaction of the person being overtly shy, but a well-timed smile generally moves them back into one of the two categories. When I first saw this group of old foggies, I was fully expecting the "get off of my yard" treatment. Fortunately, they seemed to be captivated by the camera and wanted several photos taken of each. By the end of it, I thought I'd run into a bunch of divas, they spent a good twenty minutes looking at their snaps and claiming 'superb'. Probably the highlight of both of our days.
I have been looking for ways to selling myself to you. How can I get hire by you? I'll be honest, how can I earn your trust in me? How can I prove myself to you? Consumers, I do know you're smart! I know you can find your own property, and even sell your own property. Why I'm here? Legal matter! The legal paper work! I can keep you from being sued! Keeping it legal! I'm a license Realtor® in the State of Montana to sell real estate property. I have made it my business to know the Law in the State of Montana. I do keep in touch with a lawyer! It's my business for you, as the public to protect and serve you. I do know the legal matter that's involved in the real estate property. How would the judge in the court system look at that situation? An out-state-agent told me this. Well, for start, why would you want an out-state-agent answering your question? Legally
Bizarre Creations has made a news post up debunking a rumor that has spread through the internets, of a problem with them fitting some of their level designs onto a DVD9 disc. It was very easy though to read into what was said by one of the Bizarre staff members, Ben:
“You won’t see different times of day per city because this involves recreating all the textures again (one for day and one for night). Whilst this wasn’t a problem for our dev team, it was a problem fitting all this data onto a single DVD.”
That was posted on the 27th, so with four days of buzz behind this statement on the internet, which is basically equal to a hundred human years, they finally took the time to reply yesterday:
“We’ve never had to cut content to fit on the disc, and we probably never will.”
That is the short answer, but basically he goes into how before creating the game itself, they already know the medium they are working on, thus the game is created with t
Yup, it is true, I am actually going to make you watch Howdy Doody. But on the bright side it will probably be the only time you will see old Howdy on this blog. There is something I find a bit offputting about a puppet that looks like a caricature of a drunken chimp. As if that isn't bad enough, if you went around these days singing, "cowabonga," declaring it as your themesong, and pronouncing it like "cowabunga" people would think you were making a REALLY BAD remake of Brokeback Mountain only about a cowboy and his cow. This blog is all about good taste, so Howdy Doody has to GO. Howdy, you are officially RETIRED.The Clever Cynic, http://theclevercynic.blogspot.com/

Since this is my first post on my brand new site, I think it would be polite to present myself and tell you what I will write about in these pages. My name is Tudor Golubenco (hence the domain name. Original, eh?) and I’m a young software engineer. You might know the type: having a modern life, advocating Linux, reading Slashdot (they can do just fine without me linking to them), having fun with things like The Daily WTF or xkcd, and you can fill in the rest for your own.
I’m interested in system programming, parallel computing, security and VoIP, which brings me to what I will blog about: system programming, parallel computing, security and VoIP. I also plan to do reviews to the open source software I use, and that I think others should use, too. In very sunny days I might even post about some not-software related subjects, who knows? I’m a Romanian guy leaving in Berlin, so I could post about my efforts to learn German (or about my efforts to *start* learning), a
(yeah, the pic is of the cast of "Welcome Back, Kotter" - stupid, I know, but I felt like it...)Man, Oh man...I can't seem to get anyone else to do it for me, and I've been spending so much time reading the "Morning News" and "Arkansas Times" I just can't resist poking my ugly mug back in. Greg and everyone at thefiveforty.com seem to have also decided to take a long vacation, so why not? The beach is great out here, crab season is starting on the Bay and we've already been to DC for the Cherry Blossom fest, sure. But what's all this about the Coach? Someone dropped me a line aboutsome sort of series of text messages between "the man" and a local news anchor. Not sure what's happening with that in the least, but it sure makes it tough to stay away from the Arkansas websites. And, what's this? Do my eyes deceive me? Did my old friends at the Arkansas Family Coalition pack it in? I see nothing on their site but some sort of You-Tubishness. Please, someone tell me the st
photo via YelpI'll make this simple and to the point. Howdy's Taqueria in Culver City sucks.I ate at Howdy's last week but needed a week to calm myself down to get to a place where I could calmly say "this place sucks".If I would have written this report right after eating my tacos this entry would have been full of so many f-bombs I would have had to go into rehab.Lets get one thing out of the way though. The name Howdy's Taqueria doesn't bother me. If the food was great they could call themselves Howdy Doody's Taqueria for all I care. I'm not bothered by the name. You can't however call yourself a taqueria if you have a chicken ceaser wrap on the menu. Howdy's is really part of the "fresh mex" family. If Rubio had sex with Wahoo's fish taco you'd get Howdy. There's a little bit of Rubio's phony authenticity with a little of Wahoo's casual kick back atmosphere. The prices are really outragous. I know it's physically attached to a movie theater but do they really have to
Sooooooo, just got done watching three freaking hours of MSNBC coverage of the State of the Union. Pretty funny stuff. I enjoy watching Olbermann and Mr. Hardball get on each other's nerves. The speech was an interesting approach to the President's exigencies going into a final two-year stint before leaving office, and facing the reality of the Democratic Congress.
Oddly enough, I think some of the things he proposed might get passed, and right over the heads of the minority party. The entire immigration thing will reallllly make a few people mad.
Anyway, we're settled (or at least unpacked) here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Not a bad place -- pretty close the Atlantic ocean and Chesapeake Bay. DC, Balitmore and Philly are all about an hour or two up the street. Not a bad place to take a weekend trip.
Did the rounds this morning of the Clear Channel group out here. Nice folks. They say they used to be owned by Cumulus. They may be again with CC selling many of the
Why hello there! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kelly, aka debambam and I used to write and read blogs. Somewhere amidst the eggnog and party poppers of the holidays, I appear to have gotten lost and only recently stumbled my way back to the alternate reality that is the blogosphere. It’s not exactly as I remembered it and I can feel some changes (not the aesthetic kind) coming on. I said a while ago to look forward to some new direction here at no regrets, well I think it’s time for those things I’ve just been thinking about to be be put into place. Thats a job for next week though
You may have noticed I tidied the place up a little and did some redecorating…it had been so long since I seriously spent some time here I had to spend 3 hours just clearing out cobwebs! Funny how much dust can gather in a little under 7 days on the net isn’t? It took me nearly all night (literally) but I got it looking pretty much how I like it. I’d lik
"Penda" - 5 x 7" colored pencil on colorfix paperCopyright 2007 Maggie StiefvaterClick here to bid.Well, normally on my other blog posts I tend to be chatty, silly, and generally blabber on endlessly on something unrelated to art or myself, but since this is my first post on the Art 4 Critters blog, I thought I'd introduce myself. All about me:addicted to cookie doughprimarily equestrian artisthave a love affair with colored pencils that my husband's cool withhave two cats, each possessed in their own hellish wayshave one neurotic jack russell terrier, known for barking at her own fartsam entirely too talkativeKeeping that last point in mind, I will merely mention that I am listing the above piece with 10% going to South Carolina Equine Rescue, and then conclude with a beauty shot of my now famous cat Moose. (Moose mumbled something about this shot showing off his eyes, but you can ignore him - I do.)
After lusting cross-Atlantic stares, the countries of Great Britain and Texas (ask a Texan if I've got that right) finally got a room and consummated something with the 2005 release of These Were the Earlies. I never really understood the attraction...

I haven't kept an online journal in a long time due to the prying eyes of those who know me in real life. I think it's good to have a private place to express yourself and exchange ideas with people who don't have a vested interest in the outcome of your personal circumstances.
My name is Elle and I'm a 41 year old woman from a small city in Texas. I adore the South. I'm very fat. I'm somewhat grouchy and extremely dissatisfied with many of the people in my life. Although I have tried to avoid it, I have become quite materialistic in my old age. That disgusts me about myself. Recently, I have made a point of lessening the importance I place on material things. In this day and age, that's a good thing, because you never know when things could get so bad that you lose it all,
