Signals provide loose module coupling, which is crucial for good design. All you need to declare are the arguments of the signal, and then any module is free to generate them and any other module is free to receive them. If the module sending signals is freed, no problem, the receiver will simply not receive any more signals. If the receiver module is freed, again no problem, the signals will be simply ignored. On an aircraft carrier, officers eat in the different (and most likely better) mess/galley/line of food/etc. On his first night in charge, he went to go eat, and came back with a 8 oz paper cup full of cashews. He walked into the room where we sat around most of the time, set them on a workbench, and said “For the troops!”. He’d gone out of his way to bring us eight friggin ounces of cashews to split among twenty of us.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has published a proposed rule that would suspend the requirement for using circle hooks with live or natural baits in all Atlantic tournaments featuring billfish categories. Curiously, the proposal states that the rule might be suspended of 2007 in order to take advantage of the conservation benefits that circle hooks afford through the increased survival of released fish.
