Seriously? Are we going to call the Ghostbusters or not? Within the past year Ghostbusters 3 and the Ghostbusters video game have been confirmed, canceled, confirmed, canceled, etc, etc... At this point, a 3rd movie is... rumored, and if it ever does exist it will be computer animated. The game is... postponed. Hopes are that it will show up sometime next year, in time for the 25th anniversary of
Did you ever smell an odor that took you right back to a time in history you'd long forgotten about? It happens to me all the time. I have the nose of a Bloodhound. Unfortunately, it works for both pleasant and unpleasant smells. For example, I can smell milk a day past its "sell by date", through the refrigerator door, and one room away. Well, ok, perhaps that's a bit of an exaggeration, but

A while ago, I was really, really into Sigur Ros. I don’t disagree with most people. They are a good band. They are a talented group of Icelandic individuals. But, pardon my blasphemy, I get it. I was really excited when I first heard these guys. These days, it’s not that they aren’t making bad [...]
I had resisted Blogging about this, because I felt like my little insignificant Blog would not make much of a dent. But here it is: Scott Loper, a U.S. citizen living in Canada, was a good cop, highly trained in surveillance and criminal investigation. On the verge of exposing a police-run narcotics ring in Durham, Ontario, Loper was discovered by the ring and imprisoned for four years on tr
Democratic Representative Dan Boren of Oklahoma has announced that he will not endorse Barack Obama for President, while he will vote for Barack Obama in his role as delegate to the Democratic National Convention. The reason? Obama is "the most liberal Senator in Congress." Boren did endorse Hillary Clinton during the primary process, but somehow Obama doesn't pass his own personal litmus test. Wh

Apparently, I may not have been the only one unimpressed by episode 5 of xxxholic kei. While episode 6 and 7 have aired, somehow no one has subbed these episodes. Meaning I have nothing to report.

Wrapped up in their tiny blankets, the bundles of woe pictured below are surviving on the milk of human kindness. The orphaned baby fruit bats are being raised at a rescue centre after a plague of poisonous ticks swept through their colony. Used to snuggling up to their mothers, they need to be kept warm and are fed through teats with a sugary liquid full of nutrients. Scroll down for more... RABBI ARTHUR SEGAL: DINA DE MALCHUTA DINA [ THE LAW OF THE LAND IS THE LAW ] OR NASATA VE NATATA BE EMUNAH [ DID YOU CONDUCT BUSINESS HONESTLY ] OR BOTH? BUYING DISCOUNTED FORECLOSED HOMES. I read recently of a Jewish real estate investor being brought before a Bet Din, a Jewish Court, because he was buying foreclosed homes, at very discounted prices. While this was perfectly legal under his State and Federal law, was it 'kosher' under Jewish ethics? There is an old tradition, when Jews in their own communities inside the greater communities at large, judged themselves. It was considered Chilul ha Shem, (desecration of God's name) for a Jew to bring another Jew into a secular court for adjudication. And so batai din (Jewish courts

Sunday's Johnson City Press contained an opinion piece from the editor entitled: War in Iraq has taken a toll in lives, patience. It is a good commentary. The editor takes a moment to praise the efforts of ConcernedTNCitizens and other groups who speak out to oppose this war:Others, like a group that held a candlelight vigil in Johnson City on Wednesday, are encouraging people to speak out on the war. Sandra Garrett of Concerned TN Citizens suggests local residents write letters to members of Congress, newspapers and blog sites. That’s a good idea. We should talk honestly and openly about this war. That would be a refreshing break from the partisan rhetoric that we hear from our politicians. Here is how to contact your congressperson. By IanIntroductory remarksThis document sets out some arguments that question the truth of contemporary evangelical Christianity. It has been written largely for the benefit of the author but also to communicate to friends and family in a dispassionate and non confrontational way some of the rationale for no longer adhering to fundamentalist Christianity. It is almost all my own words but I have used material from the Internet in some places.I want to start with a challenge to the Christian who may read this. The challenge is as follows:Think of all the people and belief systems residing outside your church.Try, against all the odds, to read this as a “juror” and not a “defendant”Remember the story of the Emperor’s New Clothes. If you personally know our Creator, genuinely engagin

Harry, our dog, refused to go out and "do his duty" this morning because it is pouring rain. He will not go out when the elements are hostile."This dog wouldn't make it a day, if he were lost in the woods," my husband said with a sigh this morning, looking at Harry curled up, asleep, on the couch. You would think there would be a bit of embarrassment Bill would feel about his other "son" being so ....weak.Yet we all fawn over that dog, cuddling him, trying to get a little attention from him- if we can wake him up from one of his many needed naps. Last night, Bill was cuddling with him on our bed. I was at my desk in our room, and therefore Harry was right behind me. He has to be as close to me as possible. Bill tried to get Harry to give him a little lick, a glance, anything- but instead, Harry moves closer to the end of the bed, next to the desk where I am."He's in love with you", Bill said in a resigned voice. "I can't get him to pay attention to me."Even when Harry flops on the
By: Dan Heskett Like lawyers, real estate agents and realty companies have had many jokes made and told about them due to the shady reputation many of their number have earned for the industry. Nowadays, selling your home to these people may seem like entering a den of lions – an unpleasant situation that is not meant for the faint of heart. So what is a poor homeowner to do when he needs cash fast and wants to sell his house quick?Fortunately, it is still possible to find honest real estate agents and realty companies out there (believe it or not.) The problem is just finding them. Here are some tips you may bear in mind when looking for them:1.Go online. This is a good way of running through a host of real estate agents and realty companies without ruining your footwear or running up huge gas bills. This way, you can examine what they claim to offer at your leisure and you have plenty of time to make comparisons between one website and another. This is also a good way to find out w

I get lots of emails from people asking me all kinds of questions about how I make money online legitimately without any investment and about the programs I write about. I try and reply to every question I get but sometimes when I receive multiple questions that are asking the same thing I figure it’s best to respond in the form of an article. So here
As I debated which topic to write about today in my blog, I was really bothered by a blog I read Friday night. It was by Kathy McGraw titled Honesty..... Did you earn your AR points fairly or did you find a loophole? She talked about a group on Active Rain that basically just comments on each others blog to increase their points. To those people doing that, do you really feel a sense of accomplishment? Does doing that make you feel like you have integrity & honesty? Do you not think you do other similar transgressions that others don't see? Do you think your clients have their heads buried and do not see incorrect actions on your part? Think about that for awhile! I had never even thought of doing so, but I guess it had to be, I just never thought about anybody doing something like that, anywhere. She had lots of comments on that blog. Over the last several weeks, I have seen several blogs about honesty,

Maybe I hang around here
A little more than I should
We both know I got somewhere else to go
But I got something to tell you
That I never thought I would
But I believe you really ought to know
I love you
I honestly love you
You don’t have to answer
I see it in your eyes
Maybe it was better left unsaid
This is pure and simple
And you should realize
That it’s coming from my heart and not my head
I love you
I honestly love you
I’m not trying to make you feel uncomfortable
I’m not trying to make you anything at all
But this feeling doesn’t come along everyday
And you shouldn’t blow the chance
When you’ve got the chance to say
I love you
I honestly love you
If we both were born
In anoother place and time
This moment might be ending in a kiss
But there you are with yours
And here I am with mine
So I guess we’ll just be leaving it at this
I love you
I honestly love you
I honestly love you
Including my ability to acquire a fabric stash. My mum found these feedsacks at a thrift store; she gave me the one second from the bottom, and offered more, but I just couldn't take them. This little guy sits on the closet shelf and looks charming; I think he's adorable.
On the occasion of his veto of the troop withdrawal bill, which also happened to be the fourth anniversary of the Mission Accomplished Proclamation, President George W. Bush addressed the nation:My fellow Americans,Four years ago I stood on a cruiser off the California coast and proclaimed mission accomplished. It doesn’t take an Einstein to figure out I was a bit out to lunch on that one. And, as you know, getting involved in that god-forsaken country in the first place, was beyond stupid. Almost as stupid as the Congress spending three months putting together a bill they knew I would veto. There are actually some things Congress and I could accomplish. Like immigration reform, and even some half-hearted measures to address global warming, another thing I have been stupid about until fairly recently. I even have a half ass proposal on health care. It would be better than nothing. As big a knothead as I have been, I think I got one thing right. And that is a lot of the Muslim folks wan

The work that has begun in the Gulf Coast region will be one of the largest reconstruction efforts the world has ever seen. When that job is done, all Americans will have something to be very proud of — and all Americans are needed in this common effort.
Associated Press, 12/25/06:
WASHINGTON (Dec. 25) - The tally for Hurricane Katrina waste could top $2 billion next year because half of the lucrative government contracts valued at $500,000 or greater for cleanup work are being awarded without little competition.
Federal investigators have already determined the Bush administration squandered $1 billion on fraudulent disaster aid to individuals after the 2005 storm. Now they are shifting their attention to the multimillion dollar contracts to politi
If you believe the stereotype, England football fans are drunken hellions with a rabid thirst for violence. As the FA face charges after alleged incidents in Croatia earlier this month, one passionate fan from Brighton has been compelled to give a first hand account of events that day.
As she strolled through Zagreb, Lisa Kerridge remembers the atmosphere between the two sets of fans being

...to living with rude, shiftless 20-something Czechs. Miki is fine, although he doesn§t talk to me much until we§re out of the flat - again sorry for the strange characters; I just can§t get the hang of this Czech keyboard at the free internet cafe - preferring to bicker with or fawn over his girlfriend, who as far as I can tell resents my presence, despite the fact that money from me allowed her to eat this week. She§s pissed off that Miki associates with old, balding English-speaking gay men? I don§t feel sorry for her: she§s the one who fell for a male prostitute who§s been selling his ass to foreigners since he was 14. But I can tell she§s the kind of person who will put up it, barely, just so she won§t have to work.I sleep on the floor here in their flat; the ground in Stromovka is softer and it§s cleaner too, what with the gang§s stack of dirty dishes and attendant flies and a filthy canine who shits on the floor and leaves hair fucking EVERYWHERE. In the February 2007 issue of District Administration, Zach Miners reports on results from a survey on education conducted by The Education and Workforce Development initiative at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Here are two of the findings: "A substantial number of U.S. business organizations think the future is bleak for tomorrow's leaders… current K-12 curricula do not adequately prepare students for college and the workforce" "Respondents to the survey represented a variety of business categories including association, education, small business, and nonprofit, more than half of which indicated that school systems need a great degree of input from the business community to set the state standards for college and workforce readiness" It only took these two comments to drive me right over the edge! I didn't need to continue reading much more of their impressions before a couple of thoughts from this pretentious and hypocritical group came to mind. First, the fact that the
It's not the first time this has happened, and it certainly won't be the last. My thoughts had just turned toward someone whom I had met briefly over the weekend, who had none-the-less made quite an impression on me, but, unfortunately, just happened to be moving back ...
