      Increase in Homeowners Insurance or Tax rates - which is worse?
      Here in Florida, but even more so in Southwest Florida, so many are complaining about both of these.  Florida recently enacted the policy to roll back homeowners taxes to previous years rates.  I'm not sure that was necessary, but the small relief is welcome by most.I must however, commend  my county, Charlotte, as prior to Hurricane Charlie in the big 2004 hurricane season, my taxes were just over $800 / year, now they are a little over $900, although without my homestead exemption, it would be close to $3000 - but that same figure was only about $2500 or so in 2004.  My home has been homesteaded for over ten years now, so that does skew some of my figures.  My insurance over the last few years... 2004 $800, 2005 $3200 (not a misprint 4x in one year!), 2006 $3800, now 2007, with 7.5% MORE coverage - $1600, BUT, ONLY because I went in the 'last resort' state run insurance pool.  Not a place I really want to be, but at least only doubl
