Crist doesn't hold back with response to USF students' arrest
Gov. Charlie Crist wasted no time and spared no  responding to today's indictment of two USF students on charges of transporting explosive materials without a permit. Here's the statement released just before 5 this afternoon: “I applaud the quick action of the law enforcement officials involved in today’s indictment. The local, state and federal partnership prevented a potential danger, possibly saving the lives of countless Americans. “I am grateful to National Security Division at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Joint Terrorism Task Forces in Tampa and South Carolina as well as the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department and the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in South Carolina for their work in this critical investigation. I also commend the brave men and women of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for their assistance. “The strength of this partnership sends a clear message to those who wish to ha

Mobile Operators Making Steps to Hold Back VoIP
Barely a week goes by when we do not see a news item about a mobile operator getting more agitated about users making low cost VoIP calls over their networks, in previous posts we have mentioned Vodafone and Orange making steps to block Fring users, well it seems T-Mobile have really stepped up by actively blocking any numbers relating to Truphone - have a look at the Truphone video here Of course we have also seen that some operators are blocking the VoIP support on mobiles such as the Nokia N95 by not allowing it to appear in the menus when supplied on their networks, hoping that users will not notice. It is our view that moves like this will mean subscribers will vote with their feet and rather than the Operators losing some call revenue they will lose the subscriber completely. Overall this is a pretty backward view and Operators need to enhance new technology and prepare Tarrifs to encourage new technology rather than stand in the way of it

Singapore should not hold back from helping its neighbours in times of need.Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Balaji Sadasivan stressed this when the issue of aid for Indonesia came up during question time in Parliament on Friday."In view of the many negative comments coming out of Indonesia recently, many Singaporeans have asked, 'Should we continue to assist?'" Arthur Fong, MP for West Coast GRC, had asked. Dr Balaji said that periodic ups and downs in bilateral relations were to be expected, but Singapore should always respond in a mature manner. He said: "I can understand why some Singaporeans are questioning our continuing assistance to our neighbours despite their unfriendly remarks against us. But I do not believe that we should stop being helpful even when there are difficulties in bilateral relations."As Minister George Yeo said in his COS (Committee of Supply) speech on Monday - when he spoke about our relations with Indonesia - he said, 'We should still help
