Windows hibernation background services use a very large amount of system resources. If you are like most people you don’t use the Hibernate feature very much so you may want to disable it to give Vista a performance boost. To shut down Hibernation: 1. Click the Start button 2. Select Control Panel 3. Click the Classic View on the left hand side 4. Double-click on Power Options 5. Select Cha
Under Windows 98, Me, or 2000 there was an option in the shutdown dialog box to enter the computer into hibernation (where all the content of the RAM is copied to the hard disk). The shutdown dialog box of Windows XP doesn't offer any longer the hibernation button. Some users may get confused about how to enable the hibernation mode. If this mode is supported by your motherboard (ACPI) you have to

When you put your computer into hibernation, everything in computer memory is saved on your hard disk, and your computer is switched off. When you turn the computer back on, all programs and documents that were open when you turned the computer off are restored on the desktop. To put your computer into hibernation, you must have a computer that is set up by the manufacturer to support this option.

my middle name must be "bear" because I didn't want to do anything for the past 3 days. last night, I DID manage to go out to the lobby late. but that was it for the last 3 days.the lobby was pretty empty when I got there. a few lounge lizards trickled in and out over the course of a few hours. first there was the barber, the bookkeeper, then, timberwolf, and general patton.the surprise of the night was - the handsome man, and patrick o'brien are back in town again. the last time either of them were here was about 3 months ago. I got word that da brain is coming back next month.harrison ford is still in pattaya. yai ming is here from singapore. he comes here so often I don't look at him as being a visitor anymore.while the lobby was slow, the parking lot was in full swing. Whew! I've been underground these past few months kasi naman i've been so busy! You know naman, in demand ang beauty ko!Kung ano ang mga ginawa ko within my absence, it's none of your business. But because I'm so mabait, and I want you naman to be updated with my life, i'm gonna share few bits and crannies of what I did recently.1] I was able to watch the quite funny but super touching indie film, Transamerica. It talks about a transgender (or popularly known as tranny) and his/her son. Basta, just watch nalang the movie, I'm not good kasi in writing a synopsis eh... It stars Felicity Huffman as Bree the Tranny; and the super **hott** Kevin Zegers as Toby the Tranny's Son. (*Parental Guidance is advised in watching this film, it

By this April AMD will roll out its long famed Barcelona Quad cores, onto the retail market. They were supposed to do this by the end of 2007 [read here], but unfortunately, some issues like Visualization problems and breakdown at high workloads kept them from going. But, now they have filled in new silica and are all set to challenge the blue chip maker. Barcelona is the code name for the new quad series of Opterons, and is a continuation of AMDs quest for dominance in the multicore market. Though most feel that AMD is trailing by an year, they are confident and proud about their offering. AMD says this gives better performance and have a cleaner and compact instruction set, and even does not have extra heat dissipation compared to its earlier dual core variants. Already the Barcelona has

WASHINGTON: New evidence has suggested that the sleeping patterns of hibernating animals have been altered due to rising temperatures from global warming, which could bring them to the brink of extinction. These abbreviated hibernations are part of a growing body of evidence suggesting that hibernating animals are waking up earlier—or not going to sleep at all. According to a report in National Geographic News , this new finding was done by researchers at the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab in Crested Butte, Colorado, who took the case of the change observed in the marmot's hibernation patterns. When these animals were studied in the 1970s, it was seen that rarely awoke before the third week of May.But these days, according to the scientists, marmots regularly end their winter naps a m

In Windows operating system environment such as Windows XP and Windows Vista system, there is always a file named hiberfil.sys created and existed in the system root drive on boot disk. The hiberfil.sys is large and big in size, always as big as your system physical memory (RAM) size. For example, if the computer have 2 GB of DRAM memory, the hiberfil.sys file size will also be around 1.99 GB in size, taking up precious hard disk space, and in worse case increase fragmentation on the drive.hiberfil.sys is a file that Windows system creates whenever the computer goes into hibernation mode. When system hibernates, the system state of the computer is preserved by storing a copy of all data in the memory in hiberfil.sys file located on your local disk, so that when the computer restarts, the information can be read into memory to restore the state as of exact state when computer starts to hibernate. That also explains why the size of hiberfil.sys file is always same size with computer’s
For most people this function might be good, but personally, I leave my computer on all the time, it's always downloading, or working at something, and it isn't practical for my computer to take a little sleep. So, here is how you shut off this little hibernation feature:Go to your Control PanelGo to Performance and MaintenanceClick on the Power Supply OptionClick on the tab that says, "Hibernate"Unclick the box that says "Enable Hibernation"Click Okay That's all there is to it and now your computer won't go into hibernation mode when you're away from it. I've often thought that maybe those of us who suffer from seasonal depression aren't truly sick at all. Perhaps we're just a slightly different species. Within the animal kingdom, I'm can't imagine that lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes and others go around criticizing black bears, badgers, bats, chipmunks, fat-tailed lemurs, ground squirrels, hamsters, woodchucks, prairie dogs, and raccoons just because they go to sleep for a couple of months in the winter and awaken in the spring. Why do we get such grief for similar behavior? What if it wasn't considered a bad thing to just need a brief respite each year? What if we knew that it was okay to eat more, gain a little weight, prepare to have a long snooze, and awaken in the spring when it's sunny and nice?Bears prepare themselves. They rake leaves, twigs, and other plants to make a nest of sorts. They make dens in burrows, caves, hallowed-out trees, and crevices. They go to sleep with their loved ones, and wake up months l
I was running around all over Vista trying to get my Hibernation mode back on - since for some strange reason it disappeared all by itself. An even stranger thing is that I could not pinpoint where the setting which controls it really is. I knew it was around Power Configuration somewhere but dammit - no sign of it for me tonight. It turns out there's a really easy way to do this, so if you want to turn the hibernation on or off, simply do the following: 1. Click Start, All Programs, and then right click on "Command Prompt".2. From the context menu click on "Run as administrator".3. If User Account Control prompts you to allow the action, click on Continue.4. In the command prompt window, type "powercfg –h off" (or "on" without the quotes) followed by Enter button.4. Close the Command Prompt window and you're done :) Via: http://vistahelp.blogspot.com/2007/01/disable-hibe...
My heartfelt apologies to all my regular readers. We had two snowstorms out here at Nebraska. After the storm, I had this deep urge to tinker with Wordpress.
With that, comes this version of Chilligavva. I was toying with some kind of logo for Chilligavva, but couldnt quite work the shell theme into it, which for the new readers, was ancient currency. So the compromise, is the “hol(e)y coins” which denote currency.
Some of the wordpress learning that I am proud of is

By now you might be wondering if Mr. C is still in possession of his testicles after Friday's heating fiasco. I decided to let him keep his balls but I'm reserving the right to use them as punching bags when the mood strikes me. And, no, I'm not speaking figuratively. Here's what he said in response to my bitching about not having heat on the coldest day in the past two years (5 degrees, but -
Showtime for FeliCa Networks : the DoCoMo-Sony JV will provide chips for all Japanese MNOs. KDDI signed the agreement last September and Vodafone KK just joined suit right after one more lousy month (their market share is not likely to improve dramatically until they replace that problematic 2G of theirs with a reliable and comprehensive 3G service). Just to remain one step ahead, DoCoMo announced at the same moment a deal with East Japan Railways around this mobile payment enabler developped by Sony Corp but with a specific branding ("mobile suica"). When 3 fierce competitors on a major W-CDMA vs cdma2000 market decide to use the same solution for such a key entry point, one can expect a big boost for mobile commerce. We're talking about Vodafone, DoCoMo (who as usual insists on the packaging of the solution with i-mode), and KDDI (a relatively small player but the herald of the CDMA Development Group in a huge market). This surely is bad news for such competitors as Moneta (time will
