It's that day again, and I haven't posted all week, and I'm sorry. So here's what I've been thinking about instead of posting:- Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I know it only ran one season, but I love it. We watched the whole season over the past week and a half or so. Amanda Peet is so gorgeous, isn't she? Current favorite meal: 1/2 cup brown rice, 1 diced hardboiled egg, 2 cups of steamed red cabbage and onions, and balsamic vinegar drizzled on top for flavor. It was less than 3 minutes after he got into the car on his way to school this morning that he wished me 'Happy Valentines, I love you'.Such sweet message to my ears when I was so hesitant to even smile or talk early in the morning. I 'questioned' him to test his sincerity (wicked me!), 'Are you sure you love me?I nag you almost every minute.' I hope he is not expressing his love just to please me. Although I have a bit of a problem with the whole idea of one day to celebrate your love, surely that’s every day of the year! And I do think it’s a bit of an invention of the card industry to fill the gap between Christmas and Easter. Apparently 1 billion cards are sent each year, so the vast majority of us take part in some way. I’m not adverse to a bit of romance myself so will be celebrating too, despite my reservations about this particular holiday.

Well folks, it’s nearly offically Valentines Day. Earlier today millions of lovers were rushing to stores all over the country in a last minute bid to find whatever is left on the shelves the perfect gift for their partners. My question is: WHY?
Why does it take this over commercialised day of the year that is supposed to be romantic, not shopaholic in it’s nature, for people to express their love? Shouldn’t every day be about that? It's kind of funny, what this holiday means at this point in my life. First of all, it's NOT a big romantic occasion. That's not to say I don't adore my hubby, cause' I do! It's just that we do not normally spend big bucks (or even little bucks) on each other on Valentine's Day, because we seem to be always under a tight budget raising two beautiful children and living in this wholesome/pricey country place. They wanted all the kids to get dressed is red and pink. The teachers of the daycare stated that they were going to have a party all day. She put her personal touch on each card by placing every sticker on by hand. I've been planning today in my head for a few weeks now.In the past valentines day has been more about Tim and I getting away for a date... and we hope to still do that next weekend or sometime... but this year I felt God pressing on my heart to make today about our family. About my boys - all FIVE of them. He had the Filet and I had the Salmon - both superb. The best part was that they brought this fresh baked french boule bread to the table. Warm and yummy!Ali wasn't able to finish his steak (after the Clams Atlantic appetizer which was enormous I can understand him being so full) and we asked if we could have it wrapped up - the nice waitress included a whole new loaf of bread with it.
