The advantages of shopping for groceries online significantly outweigh the disadvantages – 9 distinct money and time saving considerationI personally dislike shopping for groceries. Tired of the increasing costs of everything? With gas around $4 per gallon the cost of almost all goods and services seems to follow the upward trend. The closer we get to summer the likelihood of prices increasing more is inevitable. The worst part is that salaries don’t seem to be increasing with the cost [...]
A carbon tax in Canada, whose details have yet to be revealed, is speculated to be neither carbon neutral or good for the economy. The measure, a plan to add a tax to carbon consumption, would drive up grocery prices and hurt the economy.

One thing I’ve noticed lately is that the price of groceries is skyrocketing! So much in fact, that people have started stockpiling staples such as rice and flour. Personally, I think the media is playing a role in this and people are overreacting. But the fact remains: grocery prices continue to rise.
While I can’t stop [...]
This week I had to do some major shopping. For a variety of reasons that all came together at the same time our freezer, pantry, cupboards and refrigerator were almost empty. Part of that was due to about $1500 worth of unexpected bills last month, partly because we were trying to save money to pay for vacation and lastly, because we were going on vacation for a week and I tried to use up everything we had on hand so nothing would go bad or needed to be thrown out while we were gone. Monday I left the house around noon and got back at 5:30 pm from shopping at both Costco and SuperWalmart. Did I stock up on anything in particular? Nope. Did I hoard certain foods or purchase huge amounts of canned goods or dry goods like flour or rice? Nope.Did I buy flour and sugar in bulk at Costco?

A Vacuum food saver is a must for the large family. The cost of groceries has steadily been on the increase throughout the United States, yet salaries have not necessarily been increasing. As families begin to feel the financial strain from higher food costs, there is one, money saving tool on the market [...]
American families, already pinched by soaring energy costs, are taking another big hit to household budgets as food prices increase at the fastest rate since 1990.
After nearly two decades of low food inflation, prices for staples such as bread, milk, eggs, and flour are rising sharply, surging in the past year at double-digit rates, according [...]
The Tennessee Grocers and Convenience Store Association is launching a public relations and lobbying effort to try to get the state legislature to approve the sale of wine in grocery stores.Using the slogan “Red, White and Food,” the group says the measure would benefit consumers and help their businesses. The group points out that 33 states currently allow wine to be sold in food stores. The move to bring wine to grocery stores would not change the law in dry counties in the state. In the past similar measures have died in committee. Grocers say that lobbyists for liquor store interests have been able to beat back the bills.
I have never liked grocery shopping. It was a necessary evil.....one that sucked hundreds of dollars from my wallet every. single. week. I have two hungry boys, and one hungry hubby to feed, other than myself. Our grocery bill has climbed from $400 a month two years ago, to $600-$800 a month now. I'm not happy about that, as we seem to be getting less and less, as the prices go up and up. (I don't believe people in finance these days who say we aren't headed for a recession......have they EVER been to a grocery store?!?)So, I used the trusty internet to scope out some money saving options and I found The Grocery Game! It is a service that matches coupons and sales together so you can get rock bottom deals. It gives you lists by store available for your zip code and tells you the sal
Good stories come during a blogging strike! Former Medinge Group Brands with a Conscience winner Whole Foods Market has done something which we think is excellent thinking. During a computer outage, a West Hartford, Conn. branch decided to not charge its customers. It estimates that it gave away $4,000 of groceries, and had no repercussions from its top management. ‘It was clearly a snafu on our end, and it didn’t seem right [to make the customers wait],’ said manager Kimberly Hall. The call was made by assistant manager Ted Donoghue, so it seems this customer-first focus isn’t just lip service from Whole Foods—something we were conscious of when the company won its Brands with a Conscience award at this time last year. The go

At Shop N Save, you spent S$10 and you get a stamp. Collect 12 stickers and you get S$6 voucher. That was a year ago. This year, they had changed their policy. You have to spend S$15 in order to get a stickers. Collect 12 stickers for the particular month and you get S$9 voucher.
Incentives Attract
This is indeed saving. Imagine I buy the same things at Cold storage or NTUC, I would not have cashback like that. At NTUC Fairprice, I get to accumulate points. Rebates or points accumulated can be used to exchange for shopping vouchers or other things. These are the things that attracted me to these store. They are near my home too.
Money is not the only Motivator
That does not mean that I don’t shop at Cold Storage. I love cold storage. They are so much better than Shop N Save and NTUC. Clean, spacious, nice to shop — just that there are no incentives there. But I love to buy hot dogs and Sushi from Cold Storage.

Usually for the long Thanksgiving weekend I make the drive up to Lompoc to be with my parents. This year, however, they let me know they wouldn't be available because they're going on a week-long Senior Thanksgiving Cruise. My boss, Mrs. Pooches, invited Mannon and I over for her formal, catered, Thanksgiving dinner (she usually has about 30 people over) but when I told Mannon about it, he was adamant that he didn't want to go. He said it would be "boring" and that instead he wanted to pay me back for allowing him to stay with me by letting his new girlfriend (of one week) cook Thanksgiving dinner for all of us. He said she is an "awesome" cook and would love to do it. He told me that her apartment is really small and that instead of having it there, they would buy all the groceries, do all the cooking and cleaning-up and we would have it at my house (oh, and her roommate will be coming too). He assured me it would be a traditional dinner and not pizza or anything. He s
Check this cool invention. Cruise around with your baby in style and get some excersise at the same time. You can also go to the grocery store with this one. A lot of people use the car for the grocery errands because they need the car trunk. With this bike carrier bike there is a solution to use the car less when you need to haul the goods.
The bike can haul 80kg and will cost 2065 UK pounds. I imagine it is only available in the UK. It made in Denmark. They got to mass produce these!

My fiancée and I talked about the fact that we can probably use each other’s credit cards to purchase things without getting caught. We realized that many times than not, we aren’t asked to show our IDs when we use our credit cards. We decided to brainstorm where we have bought something using our credit cards without showing our ID and came up with this list.
• Anything online
• Restaurants
• Groceries via self checkout
• Gas Stations
• Drug store
• Convenient stores
• Coffee
• Tons of entertainment venues
* note that this is based in United States since some other countries handle credit cards very differently
We concluded that we can live our lives with someone else’s credit card without ever showing our ID. Even without all the online stuff because we can virtually get anything over the internet nowadays, we can still get food, gas, coffee, and have fun with someone else’s credit card without fear!
Now, what about the places that asks you for ID?

We currently spend $50/week less on groceries than we once did — and that’s between two adults and a spoilt kitty.
We still eat all the same things in the same quantities and we spend barely half an hour more shopping each week than we once did… but we pay $50 a week less for the privilege.
Here’s how we did it.
Shop in cheaper areas
Believe it or not, you can pay up to $1 per item extra to shop in one area rather than another — and it’s not necessarily the areas or stores that look really fancy where you’ll pay more.
We used to shop at the Broadway shopping centre, right in the middle of Sydney. We now shop at Ashfield mall, ten minutes drive away. That knocks about $20/week off our grocery bill immediately, because everything costs just a smidgen more at Broadway, and it all adds up.
There are probably similar areas near where you live. Take a drive to all the nearby shopping centres and check the prices. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Lists have a certain rhythm to them. After reviewing the receipt for groceries I purchased over the weekend, I felt inspired. Think the Choose Life speech at the end of Trainspotting or even the part...

When we used to go shopping next door at Carrefour, we would just load up a shopping cart and push it right up to our front door. This was not the best policy as you would find Carrefour shopping carts scattered around Mokdong. There is a 100w (10 cent) deposit for the cart, but come on, 100w for hours of fun is totally worth it.However, with the change to Homever, their shopping cart policy changed. We are no longer allowed to leave the premises with a cart because the parking attendant dude stops us every time. I've managed to outwit him by mumbling random English phrases quickly a few times and running away, and one time I even gave him my watch as a deposit for the shopping cart. Now we just buy groceries in small batches at a time (getting down to the grocery section of Homever involves going underground two levels) to avoid using a cart.Today we will be talking about shopping carts. In Korea, most shopping carts have seats for your little tikes to sit in. But some carts don't
