So getting my hair to do anything decent can take me up to two hours. No joke. as I've said before, my hair is literally a cocktail of wavy frizz grossness when left to it's own devices. I've tried to embrace my waves, but I find I have to put so much product in my hair to get rid of the frizz, and by that point my hair just looks greasy.So I usually stick to flat ironing it.Still, that is damaging to the hair (I have breakage galore) and getting all the flyaways and frizzies straight is ridiculously difficult.So thank god for Frederic Fekkai's Glossing Creme ($19.50-$26.50 at Sephora). This project uses some interesting modules that take heat and output electricity. “I used two of the Marlow SP2348 modules in series for the heat to electricity converter. I used white heatsink grease to make a good thermally conductive bond between the two heatsinks. Actually, the bottom heatsink (the hot side) was just a flat plate of aluminum, about 1/16″ thick. Originally intended to provide refrigeration in 12 volt portable coolers, these modules will also generate electricity when heated on one side and cooled on the other. And a handsome quantity, too–not just microvolts. Together, they will produce about 3.2 volts open circuit with the grease burner under them. Powering the jeep with drive wheels raised, that drops to about 2.4 volts–the same as two NiCD AA’s.”

In Northern California, plans are underway to combine regular diesel and greasy food waste into an alternative fuel source. Bio diesel producers, Energy Alternative Solutions, Inc is partnering with cafeterias, supermarkets, and restaurants like KFC, to produce alternative fuel from food waste. The bio diesel produced will be a blend known as “B20″ which is a mixture of 20 percent bio diesel and 80 percent regular diesel. Per a press release from EASI, the EPA states that, “using B20 can significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions and smog”. A 200 pound bear was rummaging through a subdivision outside Clarksburg, West Virginia, and to catch it the Division of Natural Resources, DNR, used a trap, a honey bun and some bacon grease. According to Gary Foster, a wildlife biologist with DNR, the bear rambled through garbage cans and went on peoples’ porches for three nights.  The residents of the subdivision called DNR, which just told the people to keep all of their garbage inside and to leave the bear alone.  This did not work so DNR decided that they needed to come remove the bear. Foster said, “It just appeared he was going to be a problem so we had to capture him.”  So they baited a trap with bacon grease and a honey bun.  Foster said, “You just use what you’ve got.”  The bear was caught and moved Monday morning.

In the course of 12 hours this weekend I made two new commitments. First, I was asked to join a worship team at my church. I've been on one almost my whole life, taking a break in the past years to finish my Master's degree and have a baby. I'm excited to be back. Second, I just became a Master Course Writer for Judson College, where I have been teaching courses as an Adjunct professor. I had a few things to say (when don't I?) on the faculty evaluation about the text that went with the first class I taught. Next thing I know, I've been hired to re-write the class. How fun is that? I'm feeling a bit daunted. And excited. And daunted.

Just wanted to share the ultra cool 'Grease: You're The One That I Want' reality show which should be a one off kind of thing. The video here is the final performance from the eventual winners Max and Laura winning the role of Danny and Sandy respectively.For both the winners, the win was somewhat unexpected and more so for Max. Austin and Ashley looked more like the part with his mucho looks and her blond hair. Nevertheless, Americans decided to go for the underdogs with enormous talent that more than makes up for it.I only wish Laura was in American Idol this year... she would have given Melinda a great run to the finals I'm sure.
