I sit at my home-office, the olive tree peeps at my window, the birds are chirping, the sky is blue, and I read on the internet that Israel is rated as the fifth less-peaceful country in the world at the Global Peace Index (GPI) of 2008.
The Peace Index was translated on the Israeli news [...]
At Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Junior High School in northwestern Minnesota, three eighth grade students were suspended by their principal for not standing during the Pledge of Allegiance. Although students can choose not to recite the pledge, they are required to stand for it.It seems indicative of the school system to always punish those who don't conform. It starts getting dangerous when a certain behavior is required of someone that should be an individual's choice.Of course, some of the more insecure people in our country will be offended that these teenagers didn't properly show their patriotism for this country. Personally, I think patriotism is demonstrated by your actions and not reciting pledges, singing anthems or hanging American flags up. Those things are really easy to do and do
About once, twice a quarter I've been making it up to the elementary school for lunch with the kids. I haven't seen so much a change from the 1st graders, but oh my, have I seen a change from those kindergartners.
When I first went up and had lunch, Maya sat on my lap, held my hand...and we chatted. Now, well, as I've said before, I get to sit there and listen to her talk with her friends.
Now, there are only 17 days left in the school year, so the kids are juiced and ready for summer, and so are the teachers.
One little boy told me today, on reliable info, I'm sure, that if you eat your dessert first, then your vegtables, your lunch is now actually healthy for you.
String cheese makes you fart. Like beer does for XXX's daddy.
One little girl forgot to get ketchup for her sandwich. Ma
Every day a 4th grade boy walks home from school past a 4th grade girl's house. One day he he stops to taunt the little girl. He holds up the football and says "See this football? Football is a boys game and girls can't have one!"The little girl runs in the house crying and tells her mother about the encounter. She runs out and buys the girl a football. The next day the boy is riding home on his bike, and the girl shows him the football, yelling "Nah na nah na nah".The little boy gets mad and points to his bike. "See this bike? This is a boys bike, and girls can't have them!"Next day, th

This is probably one of the most disturbing news I've heard recently: Eleven Third Grade Students Planned to Attack and Kill Their Teacher!Where is our society heading? Wasn't there a saying before that goes like "Youth is the Hope of Our Nation"? Gosh, these kids aren't even "youth" yet, I mean, they are kids! And they are already doing this? (plot to kill a teacher? planned it's details?)I guess this news really disturb me because I have a son who is in 4th grade and a daughter who is in 3rd grade right now. And I cannot fathom the fact that some kids their age actually planned in detail an attack kill the teacher! Did these kids watched too much TV, played too much violent video games, or what?Maybe others will say that this is an isolated case and that it does not represent the you
Nine girls, boys apparently mad at veteran educator at Georgia school WAYCROSS, Georgia - A group of children ages 8 to 10 apparently were mad at their teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair, authorities say. That led the third-graders, as many as nine boys and girls, to plot an attack on the teacher at Center Elementary School in south Georgia. Police Chief Tony Tanner said the students apparently planned to knock the teacher unconscious with a glass paperweight, bind her with handcuffs and duct tape and then stab her with a broken steak knife. The scheme involved a division of roles, Tanner said. One child's job was to cover windows so no one could see outside, and another was supposed to clean up after the attack.... This from MSNBC, Video from the Today Show
A group of third graders at the Carter Elementary School in Georgia wanted to demonstrate that they've become adults by concocting a plot to attack their teacher with the Bag O' Weapons pictured above. The kids were arrested before they were able to do the deed. The plan was to knock out the teacher with a crystal paperweight, bind her with handcuffs and then stab her with a knife. The kids ranged from ages 8 to 10. Yes, third-graders hatched a rather complicated plot that required coordination and teamwork. All for the sake of committing an act of of violence.Something tells me that maybe the authorities who arrested these kids may want to look into how they were parented to reveal possibly why they are so fucked up in the head. The reason these kids had for doing this? The teacher made the

If you see a chartered jet at Fort Wayne International Airport with an NBA logo on the side, don’t get too excited about the Dallas Mavericks or San Antonio Spurs being in town to scrimmage against the Mad Ants. No, these players are a little younger – in fifth grade, actually. The jet will contain members of the Texas Titans traveling team, who are in town to compete in the Martin Luther King Classic on Saturday and Sunday at Spiece Fieldhouse. The Titans boys basketball team is backed by Texas billionaire Kenny Troutt and often gets a lift to tournaments on a jet that NBA teams use. The team was featured in a recent Sports Illustrated article. The team has flown on the Arizona Diamondbacks’ plane, stayed at Caesars Palace for a tournament in Las Vegas and practiced at the Mavericks’
ELIZABETHTOWN — An Elizabethtown Independent Schools committee has turned in its report about a possible restructuring of the district’s schools, but it probably will be awhile before it receives a grade......The district is contemplating using a “school centers” approach in its schools’ grade configurations. Along with a planned building for preschool and kindergarteners, a possible “center” approach would place first- and second-graders in the Helmwood Heights Elementary building, and third- through eighth-graders on the Morningside Elementary/T.K. Stone Middle schools campus.Elizabethtown High School’s structure would remain the same. This is one variation on the center model other districts have used.No matter how schools are configured, the preschool and kindergarten center already is in EIS’ facility plan, which lays out all potential plans for construction and renovation in the district...This from the News-Enterprise.
