A few weekends ago, Mikey and I took the kiddos fishing. Since a small boat wouldn't fit all five of us, Morgan and I got a boat to ourselves. The boats have small drop motors on them; therefore no rowing was involved (sigh of relief).I have to tell you something. I stink at driving a boat. I kept doing the weaving motion. Martin's Goose, feast of St. Martin of Tours.
Due to Byzantine influence in Christianity, the holiday of the saint Martin was at the start of the Lenten season on November 11th. Before Lenten people wanted to feast properly. From the year 354 AD onward, a 40 day fast started, which stopped rigth before the birthday celebration of Christ.
Martin's day is celebrated in the Alps with many traditions, including a classically prepared Martin's goose. Allegedly this feast comes from an experience from Martin's life: When he was appointed bishop, he hid in a goose stall, because he was frightened of the high responsibility. The geese cackle was so loud so that Martin has been found. At his memorial day, alls geese are eaten – waht a punishment, for a little noise.

I told you’s I write about where I was on Saturday, well I’m sure you’ve guessed right I was arsing around with my usual shenanigans ‘On the Buses’.

A visit on Thursday to Nottingham Goose Fair...The plan had been to find some interesting fairground stands with good signs, soft toys, balloon's etc that were at last year's Nottingham Goose Fair. Although some came close, the displays on the stands or the subjects which had been very colourful/colorful, didn't appeal as they had done the previous year. Leaving that idea until another time, thankfully the setting sun provided one or two interesting subjects for future paintings.After sunset the Nottingham Goose Fair takes on a different feel with the lights of the rides and stands coming on plus the every increasing numbers of people. It's then time to play with a camera and almost 'paint with light'. A suspended University of South Florida student facing explosives charges regarded American troops and U.S. allies as invaders of Arab countries, an FBI agent says in federal court documents filed this week.

Current Mood: Nick called me yesterday afternoon to see if it was okay for him and his dad to come over for lunch. I let them. It was the perfect opportunity for him to see the hickey.
