I am now offering a line of fused glass rings. The ring pictured here has a 10 mm cabochon made with rainbow dichroic glass. The ring setting is sterling silver.
I also made a blue spiral dichroic glass ring with a unique square cabochon and a sparkly green dichroic glass ring.

Ha.... This week has given me a much needed rest. :) No classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as Friday. *woohoo!!!* :DSo, I went to Sungei Wang to get my Canon Powershot A70 fixed... yet again. T-T Yup, it's an ancient model. That's the first digital cam my dad got after years using the film-strip type of retro cam. This is like the 3rd time I'm getting it fixed. Each time, including this, it's the problem with the LCD, not the lens as I claimed in a post some weeks ago. This was according to the shop person.I'm not really that much into the techs of the camera. So long as I know how to get the effects I want and am comfortable maneuvering it, I'm satisfied. I don't use much of zooming, nor the thousands of modes available - night la, moving la, potrait la, scenery la, bla bla bla. Al

With the year winding down, the last few months have seen the addition of a number of new Stars to the QuirkStation. Including our new array of Trojan interns along with some fresh faces in the various departments, our reinforcements haven’t arrived a moment too soon.
While many workplaces start to wind down around the December period, at Quirk we don’t like to conform to the norm. As such we have hit a period of frenzied madness that has resulted in many a near-aneurism, and in many much-needed Friday drinks sessions.
I must admit, when the coffee machine finally kicked the bucket earlier on in the week, I did have my doubts whether we were going to make it. However, a short trip to find a replacement messianic device got us quickly back on track.
At any rate, I digress. Our new complement of interns are proving to be real lifesavers for both Tim and myself. They’ve helped us out quite a bit already, and Tim and I owe them a large measure of thanks for keeping our
The Metroid Retrospective Part 5 is here, from NES, GBA to Wii amongst others… “Ten games spanning eight missions undertaken by one space heroine. A galaxy protected by a girl who should have died when she was three. An ancient civilization that trained her to eradicate the existence of creatures it once created for protection. And an evil organization hell-bent on encompassing the creatures’ power. This… is the universe of Metroid!”
The story of Samus, from her Chozo upbringing to her battles across the universe all fused together in a timeline and showing spinoffs.
Run-on sentences are sentences that run on forever, they are sentences that ought to have been two or even three sentences but the writer didn't stop to sort them out, leaving the reader feeling exhausted by the sentence's end which is too long in coming. (Like that one!) Break the sentences up! This would be grammatically fine if we broke this up:Run-on: I’m going home, I’m done for today, I need a bubble bath.Right way: I’m going home. I’m done for today, and I need a bubble bath.Fused sentences occur when two independent clauses are put together without a comma, semi-colon, or conjunction. For example: "The pretrial conference resulted in a settlement but the defendant was unhappy with the terms." This one is easy. Just put a comma between "settlement" and "but":The pretrial conference resulted in a settlement, but the defendant was unhappy with the terms. The end result is a happy, relaxed sentence.
Every now and then I stumble upon designers (fashion or otherwise) that are hidden away somewhere in the woodwork (why hidden?) The other day was one of those “every now and then” occasions. I stumbled upon, Jo Downs, a jewellery designer located in Cornwall, I was searching for objects that stand their own ground and would fit a theme being developed for retailing men’s collectable fashion accessories. As the retro trend infects all markets areas, from cars to electric kettles, one of the first in the fashion industry to fall under its spell is cufflinks, and so it happens. Here, an opportune time to reflect, inspect and contemporise. Swank cufflinks from America are upon us as they were by the millions in the 60’s. To balance mass production with bespoke, enter Jo Downs. Jo is one of the world’s most prominent fused glass designers. She manufactures a rainbow of men’s cufflinks and a kaleidoscope of jewellery for women. Her advanced fusion techniques create abstract de
Do you need a dental crown procedure? Dental patients who need dental crown work have a few options to dicuss with their dentists, each with specific advantages and disadvantages. The information in this section is intended to give you a better understanding of your dental crown treatment options so that you can make a more informed decision. The different options for dental crowns (also known as tooth crowns or tooth caps) include porcelain dental crowns, gold dental crowns and porcelain fused-to-metal dental crowns.Generally speaking, gold crowns are the least expensive dental crown procedure since they are the easiest to prepare. Since gold is a very pliable material, most dentists and dental labs have been using gold to make dental crowns for years. The main disadvantage of this cheap or inexpensive dental crown option is that it is not as aesthetically pleasing as the porcelain crowns. Gold dental crowns were once the standard treatment procedure, yet porcelain dental crowns have
Since a friend turned me on to fused glass jewelry, I have not been able to get enough. Most of the pieces I have seen are glittering amalgamations of fantastic colors. Each piece is big, bright, chunky, and definitely a showpiece.
This pendant by Fusion Illusion is a surprising departure from this style of fused glass. A delicate, Asian-inspired flower in relief, set on opaque black glass offers a sedate example of fused glass. Don’t get me wrong; this piece is by no means boring. It is a blend of visual textures: the glossy black background, the shimmering silver petals, and the all-out red glitter that accentuates the delicate stem.
Whereas the previous pendant I wrote about might be better suited for a friend with a bold personality, this pendant is something your timid mother would be proud to wear. Gizmo sure is! The fine detailing on this pendant is something that you won’t see in many other pieces of fused glass.

If you have been reading this site, you will know that I often become obsessed with certain looks or designers. Well, I have a new obsession: fused glass. I recently came across Fusion Illusion, a home-grown Los Angeles company. This is a husband-and-wife team, who, together with their daughter, work out of the family garage.
Fused glass isn’t the same as hand-blown glass; not even close. Fusing glass is far more technical. I do not even pretend to understand the process, so I will steal this blurb from the Fusion Illusion website:
Most of our work contains Dichroic glass, which produces the amazing effect of having multiple colors as they shift when held in direct light. The 30 layer coating is produced in a highly technical process using quartz crystal and metal oxides released in an airless vacuum chamber. Though the coating is only 35 millionths of an inch, it produces magnificent effects through combinations of reflected and transmitted color. Glass is then hand-cut
Kimberly of Blue Lady Studios has created more beautiful PMC jewelry using some of the mini dichro cabs that I made for her. I especially like her piece, Kasbah Fine Silver PMC Pendant, shown here, but I’m also a big fan of Purple Daisy, a fine silver flower pendant with a purple polka dot cabochon in its center. Kimberly’s Moonlight Fine Silver PMC Pendant has subtle-yet-stunning texture and is accented by a clear blue dichroic glass cabochon. Be sure to visit Blue Lady Studios to see her entire collection!
