Mokara Orchid, Khaw Phaik Suan x Kultana in Full Bloom!
This is my first Mokara Orchid. Khaw Phaik Suan x Kultana is the name and it is a Vandaceous orchid. The Mokara Orchid is a trigeneric hybrid between the Ascocentrum, Vanda and Arachnis Orchids. Created in Singapore in 1969, Mokara is now as popular as its parents. The first Mokara hybrid was called Mokara Wai Liang, named after C.Y. Mok of Singapore. This hearty hybrid has a unique flower shape and an intricate patterns within the petals of some varieties make the orchid look as though it is smiling giving it the common name "Smile Orchid". I purchased this for $25 a few weeks ago from Heathcote and have been taking pictures along the progress of the spike to the full bloom, so here is another slide show of the process.Come Watch my Plants Grow

Spring Trends: Skirts in Full Bloom
During a Sex and the City: The Movie reunion on Oprah last week, Sarah Jessica Parker looked positively lit from within wearing a bright floral frock. I think it's a sign that I need to buy something floral, too... that, and the fact that my neighborhood has literally come to life with an eruption of colorful spring flowers including dogwood, magnolia, crabapple, and cherry trees as well as flowering shrubs and bushes like forsythia, azalea and now, lilacs. Of course, I know florals are huge for Spring, but it seems like lately, the entire universe is conspiring to make me take notice of this trend, take the plunge and actually buy something with a floral print - and it's working! Forever 21 is in on the scheme as well with an incredible offering of unique, fresh takes on florals. I th

She was unflatteringly labelled a '4x4' after announcing she was expecting a fourth child by a fourth father. But Ulrika Jonsson's latest pregnancy is clearly agreeing with her, given her blooming appearance in these latest pictures. Cherry tree blossoms in full bloom - Laurelhurst park
This is the time of year when Cherry trees burst into full color with their extravagant blossoms. In some countries, such as Japan and China, observing Cherry trees in bloom is almost a national pastime. These images come from a Cherry tree that I found a few weeks ago in Laurelhust park (Portland Oregen). The day was a bit overcast and it was about an hour and a half before sunset so the sunlight was not overhead. The tree was also shaded by some rather large Sequoias and Douglas fir tree which made for a pretty soft light.Portland, Oregon has a number of great park similar to Laurelhurst of which my favorite is Mount Tabor park, located near 60th and Yamhill in southeast Portland.

Sathya Sai Baba’s Megalomania in full bloom
Note that five Prime Ministers of India, including the present Manmohan Singh, have accepted Sathya Sai Baba and the Indian Government protects him militarily and the judiciary from any court cases against him! Also the past three Presidents of India! Are all these people living in a deranged wonderland?  Excerpt from Dr. G. Venkataraman’s fabulating Radio Sai “But Bhagavan had said He would go. And so, on the due date, He set forth with a few dignitaries to East Godavari. When they approached the river it was in full spate. The district officials tried to dissuade the party from attempting to cross the bridge. They insisted that Swami had to give a declaration that He is taking the journey at His own risk. Consider the irony of the situation where God had to assure them of what He does. “Nothing Will Happen To Anyone Who Is With Me!”Bhagavan wrote there: “Nothing will happen to anyone who is with Me!” Who can give this assurance except the Lord of the Universe?

2007 Cherry Blossom Festival In Full Bloom
The famed cherry blossoms surrounding the tidal basin in Washington, DC were in full bloom this weekend. The Festival kicked off Saturday, March 30, with tens of thousands of locals and tourists from around the world descending upon the National Mall to enjoy the day. Upon exiting the Smithsonian metro station (which puts you on the Mall, halfway between the Washington Monument and Capitol Building), I was immediately struck by all the kites in the air. Apparently April is also national kite month, and it was one of the first events of the festival. I circled the tidal basin, completely open to the beautiful blossoms and kaleidoscope of languages being spoken. I unleashed the options on my digital camera for the first time, snapping pictures in a wide array of settings, mostly with super fine (1600×1200) resolution based on a great post I read recently. Below are my unedited favorites, in the order taken, which was between 2:30-4:30pm. It was mostly cloudy, and as the afte

And I love the funky and quirkly details like the purple silk chiffon ruffle detail on the neckline and hoody. The dress is versatile too--I think it would look great alone or over a pair of wide legged trousers!

      Baguio City in full bloom
After all those years watching the parade on television and seeing photos of the colorful floral floats published in our national dailies, I finally saw the Panagbenga (Baguio Flower Festival) with my own two eyes. It was late when we decided to actually trek up to Baguio City to brave one of the biggest crowds that jampack the city annually.Since hotels would have been fully-booked and buses filled to the hilt, we decided to drive up on the morning of the float parade, just in time to find a good vantage point for festivities. We left Pampanga at about 12 midnight. It was a sleepy but smooth drive given that heavy traffic was factored out of the picture. So we made it to Baguio close to 3:30 a.m. if I'm not mistaken. We took a quick nap at a place where some friends were staying and at 6 a.m., we were off to Session Road for breakfast. Our plan was to try out the breakfast meals at Swiss Baker. But since they had a catering service that morning, they did not offer breakfast that day a
