When I was in high school, one of my favorite ice cream flavors was mocha almond fudge because it was like a portable coffee and chocolate sundae, with the fudge and nuts neatly packed inside. For some reason I have never really considered making it, perhaps because I was unsure of how to marble the [...]

When it comes to fudge recipes you'll find hundreds of variations on basically the same thing. I've also noticed that some very popular named fudge (like Mamie Eisenhower's) can be any number of recipes and someone tacked the name on it even though you can have 20 different recipes that all have the same claim to fame.I think basically what it comes down to finding a fudge recipe you like and make it no matter what it's called. This particular recipe is a mixture of traditional and modern as it uses the traditional evaporated milk and granulated white sugar, but also adds the German's chocolate bar and marshmallow creme. For someone who doesn't regularly care for chocolate, even I can't resist a cube of traditional fudge with nuts in it! YUM! Mamie Eisenhower's Fudge4-1/2 c sugar1/4 t

This is my mom's favorite fudge. I used to make it three or four times a year. Everyone has people in their lives that they don’t know very well, yet during the holidays or other occasions you would like to give them a small gift just to say “I’m thinking about you at this time”, “Thank You for just being around”, “Welcome to the neighborhood” or “Thank You for the job you do”. This might be elderly, lonely people in your neighborhood or church, people you work with, the postman, UPS/Fedex delivery person, paper boy, cleaning personnel in your office, new neighbors, etc. Because you don’t know a lot about these people’s likes and dislikes it is often hard to find an inexpensive gift for them that they won’t just chunk in a drawer and forget about for years to come. I think we all really struggle with our thoughts trying to come up with small

Even though you have probably already gone through this exercise in the self-evaluation phase of your career planning, it’s important to go through it one more time: know how you measure up against your competition. And this time take very specific note of your competitive differences. Don’t go along with the mistaken impression that you can sell based only on your own personal value—remember our discussion of product-driven marketing versus customer-driven marketing. Know what your specific advantage is for each specific employer. Be ready to articulate that advantage in very precise language.Success in interviewing involves being fully prepared. But it’s more than that—you must stand out in a world of plain vanilla job candidates. What particular strengths make you uncommon? What makes you unique? What is your competitive differentiation? What is your unique value proposition? Be ready to differentiate yourself. Be ready to show your “competitive advantage.” And be read
OK. Let us assume for a moment that the McLaren team is not corporately a bunch of liars, cheats and hypocritical opportunists, but a group of people very badly stung by the blows and disappointments of the last few months.
We know that this might be a controversial assumption just now, but stick with us.
Let us also assume that the team and its fans (and, in the interests of full disclosure we will state that we do count ourselves among them) may have some grounds for their feeling that they have been treated rather unfairly recently.
How so? Because, examining the results of various decisions taken during the season, there is room for the view that not every ruling made by the sport’s governing body has been taken on strictly sporting grounds.
There is, in short, a perception that political factors away from the track have overruled strictly sporting concerns.
This is not even to claim that this perceived unfairness has definitely taken place. Just that it is a view worth taki

One of several chocolate cakes which is a favourite among my family and friends, this cake has a really delicious fudgey glaze and the hint of bourbon doesn't hurt, either. Vanilla Fudge was one of the few American links between psychedelia and what soon became heavy metal. While the band did record original material, they were best known for their loud, heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs, blowing them up to epic proportions and bathing them in a trippy, distorted haze. Originally, Vanilla Fudge was a blue-eyed soul cover band called the Electric Pigeons, who formed on Long Island, NY, in 1965. Organist Mark Stein, bassist Tim Bogert, and drummer Joey Brennan soon shortened their name to the Pigeons and added guitarist Vince Martell. They built a following by gigging extensively up and down the East Coast, and earned extra money by providing freelance in-concert backing for girl groups. In early 1966, the group recorded a set of eight demos that were released several years later as While the Whole World Was Eating Vanilla Fudge, credited to Mark Stein & the Pigeons.Inspired by the Vagrants, another band on the club circuit led by fu

Ok, so maybe the title of this post could be worded a little better. Today I received a mysterious package. When Jenni handed me this small box I almost dropped it because it didn't look like it was going to be nearly as heavy as it was. I looked at the top of the box and observed that it was shipped from my good friend Mr. Fabulous.
Mr. Fab was here this past weekend for our Argus focus group and was an incredible contributor. Not only did he make me laugh my butt off, he had some great insights to share that will help us shape the platform in the future.
So what was in this mysterious box? It was about 20 lbs of homemade fudge! 2 Layers of chocolate with no nuts, 2 layers of chocolate with nuts and 3 layers of peanut butter fudge. It is one hell of a lot of food... enough for the whole team.
He even included a card which read:"Ted & Co. - Thanks for the tour and the lunch and the opportunity to get a sneak peak at Argus. Hope this fudge doesn't put a crimp in y'alls plan
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business. My name is Cherie and I make a sinfully yummy fudge that is packaged in a jar and eaten with a spoon, aptly called "Spoon Fudge." This is the second business I've started and I'm having a boatload of fun working my way through the food industry. I have a husband, Joe, and a 15 year old son, Timothy, who both are an immense help in the running of this business. Timothy is the one who labels and packages all the product and Joe handles the shipping side of the things. I'm left with the actual making of the product. My husband and I also run a web development firm from home - this is our "real" job and it allows us to get away as needed to run the fudge business. 2. Where are you located? We are currently in Tucson, AZ but are looking forward to a change of scenery and are planning to relocate in Seattle, WA this fall or next spring. Our families are in the general area there and my fudge will be much happier away from the h
Sometimes I jot down recipes by hand or take a photo of them when I'm sitting in the waiting room of a dentist or doctors office, or even having my car fixed at the dealership. Other times I scribbed down (by hand) a recipe I see online but I don't have my printer hooked up to my laptop at the moment... still other times I get recipes from friends and family. I don't always jot down where I got

As a kid, I loved hot fudge sundaes. The only problem was that you had to go to the ice cream parlor to get one. Oh sure, people would try to make them at home using a can of Hershey’s syrup, but the syrup was runny, especially when it was heated. Then, as the ice cream melted, the syrup would dissolve to make very rich (thanks to the ice cream) chocolate milk. This isn’t hot fudge—hot fudge sauce needs to stick to your spoon and refuse to pour at room temperature or colder. Where do you get such a sauce?
The selection of hot fudge sauces you can buy at specialty and gourmet stores has increased only slightly since I was a kid. Meanwhile, your average supermarket generally carries magic shell, Hershey’s syrup, and other national brand sauces. Occasionally you can find an interesting local chocolate sauce in a specialty/gourmet store. I’ve tried a wine-infused cabernet chocolate sauce that was quite good, especially after an afternoon of wine tasting in Nap
While rap’s young guns are appeasing critics and vowing to keep it clean, one of hip-hop’s elder statesmen isn’t about to let Al Sharpton, Oprah, or anyone else for that matter tell him what he can and cannot say. In a recent interview with SOHH, Ice-T said that he’s going to continue to use the N-word when he’s got the mic in his hand, claiming that the word’s OK when used by someone from the ‘hood.
“I’m (going to) say ‘nigga’ til the wheels fall off,” said the Original Gangster. “My daddy used to say it. I believe that, if it doesn’t apply to you, don’t say it. If you ain’t from the hood, don’t say nigga. That’s where it lies.”
Ice-T then went off on sellouts, saying that he thinks “a lot of black people are too overly concerned with what white people think about them.”
I wouldn’t exactly word it that way, but I’m kind of on the fence about thi
Neapolitan Kisses
I heard about these Kisses recently thanks to a reader and I immediately began a quest for them. The quest didn’t last long since they were being advertised by my local CVS Pharmacy. Seems like these days there’s another new “Limited Edition” candy practically every day - and Hershey’s Kisses seem to be leading the pack. Perhaps their small size, and short ingredient list allow the folks at Hershey to experiment, test, and sell flavors at a faster rate than a more complicated candy would allow.
The next two iterations to come along are both ice cream themed: Neapolitan and Double Fudge. I always break up my Limited Edition Kisses into two categories: filled and flavored. The “filled” have a liquid-y center, while the “flavored” are simply flavored differently than the traditional Kisses. These both fall under the flavored category.
The Neapolitan flavor is basically a combination of two other Kisses: the regular
How do you know when a candy has reached the height of popularity? Sales, marketing, limited edition versions and the “test of time” are all good ways to tell, but you know you have a real winner when devoted fans start incorporating the candy flavors at home. That’s exactly what Joe over at “Culinary in the Country” did when he made some delicious looking Snickers Fudge.
The recipe looks difficult, but it isn’t as involved as it first seems. The only catch is that it’s takes a long time to make since you create four different layers that need to individually set. Joe is a Snickers connoisseur and says the recipe accurately captures the flavors of the beloved candy bar. Be sure to visit Joe’s blog for the recipe. This is homemade candy making at it’s best!

Good Friday to you all! It's time for another Favorite Ingredients Friday recipe exchange! Before we get started, I have a quick question. I'd like to do a St. Patrick's Day themed FIF, where we all post either Irish recipes or even green food recipes. Since St. Patrick's Day is on Saturday, 3/17, I can either do this themed exchange next Friday (3/9) or the following Friday (3/16). So, cast your vote on which day you'd prefer. Also, I won't be able to visit all of your recipes until after I get home from work. The base where I work at has tightened their security and I can no longer get to my blog or anyone else's. Rats! But I will stop by to visit your recipe eventually!Okay, so I'm in the mood for cookies, so I'm going to share one of my favorite recipes that I found on joyofbaking.com. It's heavenly! Oh, and one of my secret to making great cookies is to slightly undercook them so they're soft and chewy. So, in this recipe, I only bake them for 11 minutes, instead of 12

Yesterday, our office manager sent us this simple and amazing email:"Marisa Shreve sent us a box of peanut butter fudge! No picture, no card, just FUDGE!"Are you serious!? Peanut Butter FUDGE! Let me tell you, it was pretty amazing. You could taste the love- except for Marty. Marty is incredibly allergic to Peanut Butter, and so even inhaling it is cause for alarm- and also, death. So when it comes to the fudge, Marty is a wet blanket, but the rest of us? Muy delicioso!Take that, scale! Britt stared longingly at the fudge, but is completely devoted to her diet and would NOT give into temptation. Me? Who am I to turn away a delectable gift? I had 24 pieces- but, they were little pieces! Marisa, your gesture is tremendously appreciated. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and that was an awesome present! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Ted was glad to be back in the good ol' US of A, and nothing says freedom like a mouthful of scrumdidlyumptuous peanut butter fudge! Sinc
