In order to deal with inflation, Mexico has frozen food prices. The new pact which will remain in effect until the end of the year freezes prices of more then 150 food items, including flour, tortillas, and many other staples. Large Mexican companies, who currently have profit margins as high as 30 percent, will eat most of the costs; however, the move will also hurt several small manufactures.

Norio Owada keeps things in his freezer that normally don't freeze well, like cream cakes and fish. When visitors stop by his lab, he reaches into one of his freezers and pulls out a cake lowered to 25 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. Once it thaws, it looks and tastes as good as new.
Owada has achieved an amazing feat. About a decade ago he developed an invention called the cells alive system. Owad
Blogs and forums are already aflame over Grand Theft Auto IV freezing during or after the opening cutscene. According to several rumours this happens on both Playstation3 and Xbox360, but not to every gamer. Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed the problem and there is no fix released yet. Most of the crashes happens on Playstation3s with 60 Gb hard drive, though several Xbox360 owners have the same problem. The 9+ pages on the Playstation Forums recommend that Playstation3 owners delete the game data from the harddrive and then reinstall the game, but according to Rockstar support, this isn’t a guarenteed solution. They also recommend that you run the latest firmware and have space on your harddrive. This is probably the worst launch for Rockstar ever. The Xbox360 version
Ok we have all been there and done this am I correct?Things are moving along and then bam you're stuck and about punch a hole in your monitor. This is most likely cause by getting to click happy if you don't have the memory or ram to do so mucho clicking. What do I mean? I mean that when you click to start a program and it doesn't respond as quickly as you like , you click it again, which is going to slow it down more, als while doing this your demanding a certain amount of ram to do this and if its not there, your computer will freeze or crash. Also if you have just opened a program that is slowing you down or not responding, you can type Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end that program. This is nice because it could keep you from having to restart.Another reason for freezing or crashing is having 2

This is just wrong, investors punished for mistakes of the management team. ING, one of the larger fund management firms based in Australia has frozen all withdrawals from 2 of their credit instrument based funds. The reason given, lack of liquidity. Lack liquidity, that just means ING has had a hard time selling the damn things off to others at adequate prices. The supposedly highly qualified fund managers at ING had made decisions on the trades/investments knowingly. They even had the balls to claim the 2 involved funds as "low risk", when they had absolutely no clue how these instruments would perform in a bearish environment. Irresponsible and clueless, with the early warnings last July, ING could have adapted much more conservative strategies to prevent this dire stage. Having associa
From the Oregonain:When Sharon and Ray Sinclair listed their little ocean view house in Yachats for sale in May 2006, they assumed it would sell in a flash. Or, as Ray Sinclair puts it, "Poof. That's what we expected."But in six months, only three people asked to see the house. The couple dropped the price from $599,900 to $575,000 and took over showing it themselves, hosting open houses five days a week. They lowered the price again, this time to $539,000. And still, it didn't sell. Finally, on one of many sleepless nights, Sinclair devised a plan. In January, he announced an essay contest to win his house. Pay $200, write 100 words -- and you could be the lucky dreamer to walk away with the deed to a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house right across the street from the Pacific Ocean."This is

Often when your desktop freezes, or the taskbar disappears when you close a program, you don't normally have to restart your computer, as often this just the case of explorer not responding. To fix this, open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Click on the Processes tab and look for explorer.exe. End it if it's there and go back to Applications. Click on New Task and type explorer in the box and run it. Your desktop should reappear in a few seconds.More cool XP tips & tricks HERE!
It is nice to see that we exchanged one incompetent Attorney General for another. This is the latest saga in 'As the Justice Department Turns'.The Justice Department asked the House Intelligence Committee on Friday to postpone its investigation into the destruction of videotapes by the Central Intelligence Agency in 2005, saying the Congressional inquiry presented "significant risks" to its own preliminary investigation into the matter. The department is taking an even harder line with other Congressional committees looking into the matter, and is refusing to provide information about any role it might have played in the destruction of the videotapes. The recordings covered hundreds of hours of interrogations of two operatives of Al Qaeda. The Justice Department and the C.I.A.'s inspector general have begun a preliminary inquiry into the destruction of the tapes, and Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey said the department would not comply with Congressional requests for informati
Last week I got a short message from my good friend Jay Boyle (you have seen his posts here).
Simply put, it said China will stop all loans.
At the time I wasn’t sure what that meant in the grander schemes of things .. and I stil don’t.
But Jay put it to me in terms I could understand.. CPI must be much higher than is being reported.
and HE WAS RIGHT
In an announcement that is sure to make a lot of investors ask themselves how strong the foundation of the Chinese economy is. After all, one of the primary functions of a bank is to LEND MONEY.
However, with “rampant investment” flowing into China, and a number of failed regulatory, tax, and other measures, the CBRC decided to pull the emergency brake.
according to the WSJ article China Curbs Bank Loans To Cool Investment Fever
A China Banking Regulatory Commission official in Shanghai confirmed that local and Chinese subsidiaries of foreign banks have been requested to ensure that loans outstanding at year e
Yesterday, while I was redoing the inside of my place, 3 Stars and a Sun, in Scaramanga, my computer froze for no apparent reason. I waited for a few minutes but getting no activity after that I booted my system. I still didn’t know what happened. I assumed that it was just some random quirks. So, I loaded Second Life again to continue with my work and after a few seconds my computer froze again. I repeated it a few times but got the same result.
Thinking that it could be my computer that’s having some problem, I did some test to find out. I cleaned my registry, scanned for viruses, defragged my hard drives, etc. I also cleared my Second Life cache and even downgraded my Second Life client. Nothing worked, my computer still keeps on freezing. Even OnRez freezes my computer.
Other more resource intensive games like Guild Wars and City of Villains ran smoothly but with Second Life it freezes and this only happened yesterday.
Since nothing was working, I stopped trying. My pl
People love to feed their freezers. The question the San Francisco Chronicle Food section gets most often from readers is, "Can I freeze it?''
The short answer is yes. The longer answer is, it depends.
It depends on what shape the food is in to start with, how you wrap it and how long you plan to freeze it. It depends on your expectations. To get the best results, use your freezer mindfully: It's not a purgatory for food. Sources:San Francisco Chronicle May 18, 2005
As two Congressional committees prepare for hearings this week on the state of affairs in Lebanon, the U.S. Treasury has announced the designation of four individuals who are assisting Syria's efforts to undermine Lebanese sovereignty. The designations freeze any assets those individuals might hold under U.S. jurisdiction, but the primary impact is to signal the Administration's intentions to keep the heat on the Assad regime during Lebanese presidential elections. From the Treasury press release:...(read more)
Now you can emulate Windows without Parallels — at least the crashing part. Apparently the snazzy new iMacs Apple recently introduced are having some issues with UI freezes.
Three front page threads on the iMac support forum highlight the issues (here, here and here). I’ll bet there are others, but these are the [...]
I ran across this and thought you might like it!A thermodynamics professor had written a take home exam for his graduate students. It had one question: "Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof." Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: "First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So, we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since peop

Wall Street fell sharply again Thursday after a French bank said it was freezing three securities funds that struggled to find liquidity in the U.S. subprime mortgage market. The Dow Jones industrials were once more down by triple digits. The announcement by BNP Paribas raised the specter of a widening impact of U.S. credit market problems. The idea that anyone -- institutions, investors, companies, individuals -- can't get money when they need it unnerved a stock market that has suffered through weeks of intense volatility triggered by concerns about available credit and bad subprime mortgages.A move by the European Central Bank to provide more cash to money markets perhaps intensified Wall Street's angst. Although the bank's loan of more than $130 billion in overnight funds to banks at a bargain rate of 4 percent was intended to calm investors, Wall Street saw the step as confirmation of the credit markets' problems.

According to Iran’s top negotiator Ali Larijani they will delay the release of the female sailor if Britain addresses this issue to the United Nations Security Council or if they halt relations. Britain is now trying to get condemnation of Iran at the UN.
The capture of the 15 British sailors happened inside Iraqi waters according to a Foreign Office official. He said, “There are some plans to say something on behalf of the United Nations but they have not been finalized.”
Ali Larijani spoke on an Iranian state radio saying, “British leaders have miscalculated this issue,” and that if Britain continues with its current policies on the captured sailors then “this case may face a legal path,” which means Iran could prosecute the British sailors in court.
Britain has asked the UN Security Council to allow for a release of the British sailors, saying that the sailors where in Iraqi waters under a UN Security Council mandate from a request by Ir
Potentially hundreds of Montrealers on the West Island were victims of a banking card fraud last week in which their cards and personal identification numbers were copied and used to make purchases. The so-called “skimming” of customer information occurred at a West Island business, bank officials said, but they declined to say whether [...]

ICICI Bank has frozen the accounts of many non-resident Indians (NRIs) in the UAE after they failed to submit personal documents demanded by the Bank. The Bank had asked for the documents after the 2005 Mumbai floods damaged documents originally given by the customers, including papers submitted for opening savings and current accounts, demat accounts for trading and investing, NRI home loans and auto loans, and ICICI Direct online trading accounts.Apart from NRI customers, the damage has also affected several account holders in India. While the bank had given its customers in India until December 25, 2006 for submiting the required documents, NRIs in the UAE were given a deadline of January 31, 2007."Several accounts of customers who have failed to meet the deadline have been deactivated," an official at the ICICI Representative Office in Dubai said. The official, however, said that the accounts would be reopened after the documents were submitted."It will definitely affect our customers
