Recently, a Now Smell This reader from Canada asked me what I thought of the Burberry fragrances for men. I had to fess up: “I’ve never tried any of them!” Shocked by my ignorance, my friend from the north braved the post office (and its rigmarole for shipping liquids across international borders) and sent me generous samples of Burberry for Men, Burberry Touch for Men, Burberry Brit for Men and Burberry London for Men. Burberry For Men is the oldest Burberry scent but has been reformulated several times since its release in 1981; the current version contains lavender, bergamot, thyme, mint, moss, cedar, amber and tonka bean. Escada has launched Moon Sparkle, their yearly limited edition fashion fragrance, and as they did last year, they are including a version for men. Moon Sparkle for women (shown) is a fruity floral with notes of strawberry, blackcurrant, citrus cocktail, red apple, sweet pea, freesia, jasmine, rose, musky notes, sandalwood and dry ambery notes. Moon Sparkle for men is a “unique and sparkling aquatic, citrus woody” fragrance with “iced woods”. The notes include bergamot, mandarin, pepper, ginger, violet, green grape, floral aquatic notes, georgywood, cedarwood, marine amber and vetiver. Annayake has launched Tomo, a new woody oriental fragrance for men. Tomo is meant for evening wear — “exciting evenings and long nights”. The notes include rosemary, lavender, citrus fruits, clary sage, coriander, tonka bean, benzoin, palisander and teak woods, tobacco, cistus and musk. Annayake Tomo is available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette for around 65€. Davidoff will introduce a new fragrance for men, Davidoff Adventure, next February. The ad campaign will feature actor Ewan McGregor: “The fragrance is about what I’m about,” said McGregor. “My greatest passion is motorcycling, which I see as a huge adventure. This fragrance appeals to people’s sense of adventure, and I am very flattered to be associated with it.” Davidoff Adventure is a “fresh, woody and spicy” scent, and was developed by perfumer Antoine Lie. The notes include mandarin, lemon, bergamot, black sesame, pimento, cedar, vetiver and white musk. It will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. Lush has launched a new fragrance, Go Green, and a range of solid perfumes in many of their most popular scents. Go Green was… …inspired by environmental activist, Rebecca Lush (honest, that really is her name) who now works for Transport 2000, heading up Road Block […] It`s a refreshing blend of grapefruit, bergamot and neroli, with calming smoky vetivert. Herby scents of fennel, thyme and cedar wood make you smell like you just walked out of a forest, carrying a basket of citrus fruits, rather than you just got off a squashed train or a bicycle.
