Woven Flesh is a beautiful store from Scandinavia, selling some amazing shirts. Their designs are inspired by Japanese kids books and eastern European fairytales. The goal is to produce 4-5 collections each year and each collection has a special theme. I personally loved their designs for their meticulous innocence. Having said all these, I know you'll hate me when you'll find out that these shirts are not the cheapest around. They cost € 46,75 (taxes included) which is about $72 (apparently this is considered a pretty normal price in the Scandinavian countries). I was hanging out with a friend of mine and he showed me a new card game he got recently called Zombie Fluxx. I had quite a bit of fun playing it and it's a very cool idea for a card game. Most card games have some set goals and rules that you follow, leaving you shaking in your boots when you look at your cards and see you have nothing of any use. Not Zombie Fluxx--in this game the goals and rules can be completely turned around in a single round, but don't let yourself think that makes it confusing. It certainly makes you think a bit, but it's a very ingenious way of doing things.

We've been fans of the show Dog the Bounty Hunter for years now. It's one of our favorite programs on television. It's cool to watch the Chapman family bust criminal ass in Hawaii. Unfortunately, the recent news about the Dog's inappropriate and tape recorded racist rant about his son's girlfriend has tarnished the show. In fact, the whole thing is quite disturbing to say the least. Online dating is a great invention for those who don’t want to get all dolled up for an evening of getting-to-know-you small talk, or pay for an uncomfortable encounter where the only sparks are the ones coming from the restaurant stovetops. Online dating lets you set up shop in front of the computer screen in the comfort of your home where you can look through potential candidates for your next relationship. There are no awkward silences or panic attacks because you have run out of things to say. You just float along picking and choosing people who you click with- the ones who leave you interesting messages and ask you thoughtful questions. The catch with this seemingly perfect dating alternative is that no matter how long you talk online, or how much you seem to know about this person, you really can never be sure that who you see on the computer screen is who you get in the flesh.

It's fruit-basket-turnover in our house this week as we turn Corrie's nursery into a "big girl room", and the boys (not wanting to miss out on the action) have decided this is the week to rearrange their rooms as well. And I, being in a winter rut and therefore eager for any excuse to rearrange furniture, have agreed. So our upstairs is a disaster: mattresses in the halls, toys pushed up against the walls, hang-up clothes stacked on beds...lovely. If I can find my way back to the computer on Monday, I'll resume normal posting then. Until then...another day, another post from the archives.
