While at CollegeFest this past weekend I was introduced to the Mimoco company. The company was selling their mimobot flash drives and they were also giving away stickers of mimobots as well as little plastic toys called Vimobots. Vimobots are actually Pure Vinyl Art Toys. I ended up with a ton of the stickers as well as two of the vimobots. I didn't get a flash drive but that would have been cool.The flash drives that they sell range in capacity from 512MB to 4GB. The next time that I do a backup of my computer, I think I want to use a flash drive or other type of external storage. The last backup that I did, I used an online service. The backup went smoothly for the most part. I did lose a few files and had a problem with files being renamed and containing data from other files. For example, I’d open up file1.jpg only to find it to be corrupt, open up file2.jpg and it was actually file1.jpg renamed, etc. Kinda frustrating but I dealt with it. I didn’t lose too much.

If you use your USB flash drive only with Macs, you may be able to increase its speed by changing its format to Mac OS. Just like any other drive, flash drives can be formatted for use on either Windows or Macs, and almost always arrive formatted for Windows. (Macs can read Windows-formatted drives, but Windows requires a third-party utility to read a Mac-formatted drive.)
You can use Apple’s Disk Utility (in Applications:Utilities) to reformat the drive for Macs. Under the Erase tab, choose Mac os Extended from the Volume Format pop-up menu. You can also give it a name - using your phone number is a good option in case you lose it. When you click the Erase button, all the data on the drive will be erased and the drive will be formatted for Mac OS.
The next time you copy files to or from the drive, you should see a speed improvement.

Buffalo, a company that has been creating waves in almost every field of technology nowadays, has just unveiled a lineup of USB drives that sport licensed Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, and Stitch. Not only does this drive have just 512MB of capacity, but due to its shape its not something you can tuck in your pocket.
Hence it’s fairly clear that these are aimed squarely at Disney fanboys (and girls) who just can’t let the opportunity to own a “limited edition” Disney item pass them by. Releasing late next month, only 5,000 of each character will be available for sale, and while we’re not sure of the exact prices, we’re certain they will be a bit overpriced due to its short supply.
