This comes right after a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision involving the same school district over similar charges. Fifth-grade teacher Lorraine Hill, who is black, is claiming that she was denied a transfer to a school closer to her resident solely because of her race. The lawsuit states that the JCPS policy of Singleton Ratio is a discriminatory quota that limits the hiring and transferring of African-American teachers to 15-percent.

According to allAfrica.com, a handful of consumers have been caught filing false claims against pet food companies after the pet food crisis. UNSCRUPULOUS consumers are trying to milk local pet food producers after the recent contaminated dog food scare. Foodcorp CEO Justin Williamson said the company’s Nola brand had received five claims of a suspicious nature between the end of March and May 25. The claims were all later found to be spurious . Nola said that in each case there was either no dog food to test or no body on which to perform tests. In cases where tests on products were done, it was found to be negative. […] Brian Durham, a consultant with Feedit, said that while fake claims of dead dogs were not widespread, the company had investigated claims on the Nola product that were suspicious. An example of ‘false advertising’ that is given is the advertisement of dog food as though it is people food when in reality the proteins inside the bag are coming from leftover hooves, chicken feet, feathers, heads and bones considered inedible by people. Another complaint is the usage of the confusing term ‘meal’. It sounds good and most dog owners don’t know what this means exactly. The Stinson family in Charlotte Harbor, has filed a lawsuit on behalf of their 14-year-old daughter who was mauled by a pit bull on March 17 while she was walking home from school. According to the Sun Herald a pit bull named Diesel attacked the girl causing her to receive stitches for the defensive wounds. The owner of the dog, Michael Davis and property owner John J. Steger are both named in the lawsuit for allowing the dog to roam free. The pit bull was put to sleep by Animal Control officers on March 30 after being deemed a menace. Davis also faces criminal misdemeanor charges for reckless disregard in this same incident.
