The northern population of the jaguar is certainly threatened by the construction of a border fence but the problem is much deeper. The border fence represents poor planning and policy on part of the US government. Additionally, the border fence represents habitat degradation loss and fragmentation, which slowly degrades nature, her ecosystems and the complex relationships amongst organisms. The balance within nature becomes unbalanced when habitat degradation loss and fragmentation occurs.Biological laws do not stop with political borders hence nature does not abide by political borders. Well, it appears that on further review, the system is even more of a total failure, and it's being scrapped entirely: according to Kelly Good, deputy director of the administration's Secure Border Initiative program, Project 28 "hasn't come close" to meeting Border Patrol's goals. Tests of the virtual fence didn't lead to nearly as many arrests as designers had hoped, and the lag from sensor detection to transmission of an image to border agents was apparently a big part of the problem. We'd probably just finished the British War Poets, Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon and Rupert Brooke (Owen was a definite early influence) and were about to get introduced to Philip Larkin and Ted Hughes, who, probably for that reason, I have always paired-up in my mind even though they were very different people and poets. It is quite easy for them to see past the fact that Hillary is a female and see that she is a flip flopper who will say and do anything to get elected. However, surprisingly enough even some of the most loyal Democratic liberal females are coming to at least some clarity on the issue. The Los Angeles Times made the following observations.“While they struggled to break through institutional barriers in the workplace, Clinton hitched her star to her man and followed him to the top. When his philandering imperiled his political career, she not only pulled him out of the fire but helped orchestrate attacks against his accusers.”Other liberal women appear disturbed by Hillary’s support for the Iraq war and her reluctance to take firm stands on some important issues. On the Huffington Post blog, writer Nora Ephron included herself among the “Hillary resisters” and said these women “don’t trust her a

      THE PERILS OF FENCE SITTING
HILLARY IS IN TROUBLE Now the fun begins! [...]As Hillary Clinton huddled with advisers not long ago, she was pressed to stake a position popular with the party's left-leaning voters on one issue. But the presidential front-runner resisted. It wasn't her position. "If I do what you all want me to do, I'll look great for the next couple months," she said, according to one insider's account. "But what if I'm the nominee? I'll be ripped apart by the Republicans. And what if I'm the president? My hands will be tied." The New York senator's response captured the tension at the core of her 10-month-old presidential bid, and helps illuminate why she has hit a dangerously bumpy stretch as January's first nominating votes near. Sen. Clinton actually is running two campaigns at once -- courting left-leaning Democrats to get the nomination, but mindful even now of maintaining a sufficiently centrist course to withstand Republican attacks and win election next November. Take A Fence
A very odd story in the Telegraph of all paper... A drunken man broke into a central London park and attempted to have sex with a fence, a court heard. Although, to be fair, I guess in the right light those thin wooden slats could like like Kate Moss. [[ This is a content summary only. Want to Help those Fence Sitters to start Buying?
Folk have been worrying for some time if now is a good time to buy.  I, and others, would say with utmost confidence the answer to this question is YES!  Other than the fact that Interest Rates are at excellent levels, home prices have been coming down in some parts of the country, foreclosures are on the rise and it being a buyer's market...  Here is one more fact that should get folk to start getting serious about buying now!CNN/Money is reporting this morning on a Goldman Sach's economist forseeing a $2 Trillion credit crunch coming.  This would mean that banks will further tighten already tight guidelines.  Folk with less will be unable to afford getting into a house.  Fear should never be a reason to purchase a home.  Knowing the facts and seeing the writing on the wall should be sufficient to encourage your fence sitters to seriously look for a house.  This is huge!  There were warnings about the crunch that occurred back in July, but nothing like this.  Don't

      Residents Opposing Border Fence
Same Arguments Heard From All Public ProjectsFence Will Run Through Houses and Back YardsHighways, Interstates, Dams, Parks Caused Relocations TooA map obtained by The Associated Press shows that the double- or triple-layer fence may be built as much as two miles from the river on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande, leaving parts of Granjeno and other nearby communities in a potential no-man's-land between the barrier and the water's edge.Based on the map and what the residents have been told, the fence could run straight through houses and backyards. Some fear it could also cut farmers off from prime farmland close to the water."I don't sleep right because I'm worried," said Daniel Garza, a 74- year-old retiree born and raised in Granjeno. Garza said federal agents told him that the gray brick house he built just five years ago and shares with his 72-year-old wife is squarely in the fence's path."We want to be safe, but it's just that this is not a good plan," said Cecilia Benavide

      Fence me in
Some people don't like the idea of fences around schools. The public, they say, should have access to the playgrounds and fields when classes aren't in session. A story coming out of Seminole County reminds about the importance of fences. And it has nothing to do with child snatching. The Orlando Sentinel reports that Seminole school officials will be taking a closer look at their elementary school playground fencing after an autistic student walked away from campus during recess . Luckily, the boy wound up at a nearby house, where a passing county fire crew found him. But the fact that the boy could just slip away has superintendent Bill Vogel concerned, beyond the poor oversight by an aide who faces discipline. He wants to make sure that all the schools have proper fencing that keep kids in, as well as others out.

Is the grass always greener on the other side of the fence?
They say the grass is always greener but, of course, it never really is because sometimes there’s a whole lot of moss in amongst it. Take for instance the off and on popularity of Brits moving to France…. The majority do it because they are trying to get away from the bad things in British life these days. They don’t like the rising crime and the bad schools and the too fast pace of life. So, they look towards France and it seems like the UK was maybe 30 years ago. It is, but would you really have wanted to go back to the UK of 30 years ago? Yes, there’s not that much crime in the areas in which Brits habitually move but then there’s not much crime in the UK countryside either. The schools are certainly more book based, but is that any better. Perhaps the best example for a Brit considering such a move is that the English teachers in France can barely speak English because of their own schooling ie it’s largely bookwork rather than the conversationa

      On The Fence
I’m torn. I’m on the fence and don’t know on which side to fall. Or to at least lean. Being a gay guy, and having personally been on the pointy end of the queer-fear stick in the workplace, I should probably support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, ENDA, whole-heartedly. I would definitely have been a gung-ho [...]

      a white picket fence?
Never in my life did I dream I’d want a white picket fence. Seriously. Me? Old two-story house with a white picket fence? Can I say that enough times? Sorry, repetition isn’t pretty but it certainly makes a point. Our fence is utilitarian. Dogs in, strolling passers-by out — then I picked up a can of white exterior paint (Ace is the place) as primer for windows and doors because we’re getting ready to paint the exterior this year (also parts of the interior if Val keeps planning our “new bedroom” and gets her way — which she will.) Well… I came in the house a while ago to check email and thought I’d brag on my work. After scraping and priming the living room windows, I just kept going and now we have a white picket fence in the front yard. No photo this time because the Sony needs AAs. Now I get it. Climbing yellow rose bush? Check. White picket fence? Check. Old maple tree in front yard? Check. Front porch with rocking chair? Chec

Fireman’s job - Girl stuck in steel fence
This picture shows the kind of work you could be doing if you had chosen to be a fireman. All joined in a team effort to rescue a young girl stuck in steel fence,  and it took several hours to extract her from her predicament. Fire Chief Stiffie said, “This was a pretty tough rescue, it took us quite a while to come up with a plan to safely extract her from the fence.” Although the girl’s entrapment was never life threatening it did take careful planning and gentle handling to safely remove her.  She was taken to an area hospital where she was examined by several doctors and finally released the following day. “Poor thing, this  just about broke my heart” said the Chief!  “I just wanted to reach out and help her”

      Don't Fence Me In
When the Magoffin ranching family hauled 1,000 gallons of water per week - in a truck without brakes - to the stock pond where one of two ranch locations of Chiricahua Leopard Frog, they were lauded for their efforts to save this endangered species.  Later, with funds raised by the Malpai Borderlands Group (MBG), a non-profit consortium of ranchers and scientists, the Magoffin family was able to install a well and pump needed to build a permanent water source for the frogs. But the ironic twist of endangered species policy has left other ranchers in southeast Arizona hesitant to follow suite:  If you improve habitat for a listed species, your way of life may become endangered if an area is recolonized or the animals die.  That's understandable considering some reactions to a U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Safe-Harbor Agreement in New Mexico and Arizona which would hold ranchers who accepted or attracted frogs immune from added regulations if frogs arrive or subsequ

Nancy Pelosi: United States-Mexico Border Fence A “Terrible Idea”
The answer to some questions is so clear they don’t deserve a nuanced response.
