As many as 539,500 Corolla and Matrix vehicles from the 2003 and 2004 models will reportedly be recalled by Toyota. While General Motors (GM) will be recalling 122,598 Pontiac Vibe hatchbacks, which share the same platform with Toyota's Matrix and are a result of a joint venture between the two automakers. According to Toyota, it is likely that in vehicles equipped with power windows, the driver and front passenger glass bolts may loosen and cause the door glass to get dislodged from the window regulator. The company said that vehicles equipped with manual windows will not be affected by the recall. Mails will be sent to the vehicle owners by the end of April 2008 informing them about the recall. By ALEXEI BARRIONUEVO (From The New York Times)Published: December 14, 2007BUENOS AIRES — Argentina's new president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, lashed out at the United States on Thursday for meddling in Latin American affairs after American prosecutors in Miami alleged that a suitcase stuffed with $800,000 was intended to be a secret contribution to her campaign. Cristina Kirchner"There is some garbage in international politics that holds back development and seriousness in international relationships," Mrs. Kirchner said from the presidential palace here.On Wednesday, just two days after Mrs. Kirchner was sworn in as Argentina's first elected female president, American officials arrested three Venezuelans and one Uruguayan on charges of acting and conspiring to act as agents of a foreign government within the United States, without prior notification to the attorney general.According to the American criminal complaint, the four individuals, and a fifth who is still be
A glass-half-empty view of the Republican candidates:
Giuliani:
Giuliani doesn't provide a good role-model to the nation's husbands. To a small extent, voting for Rudy is a defeat for the concept of public shame. Giuliani seems to make "expedient" decisions.
Paul:
I've mentioned before that Paul is an ideological zealot. If one were to ask him about the effectiveness on a certain program or policy, he'd say, "The government shouldn't be doing that" or "The United States shouldn't interfere with other countries." It would be like going to an accountant and hearing him expound on the virtues of a flat tax when all you want him to do is get you a bigger tax refund or listening to a lecture from you podiatrist on the Hippocratic oath during a visit for an ingrown toenail.

From The Big Book of AA, Pg. 207: " Suddenly I could accept myself, faults and all, as I was- for weren't we all like that? And, accepting, I felt a new inner comfort and the willingness and strength to do something about the traits I couldn't live with".I think that this is a big key in getting well and living well. When we kick out and hide from who we are, most of our time is spent in either denying the truth, explaining it away, or being angry at ourselves and at G-d for the "lot" we were given, or for how we've messed up.This is a ton of energy being expended in a frustrating loop that never ends.So much is being written today in pop psychology books about acceptance leading to happiness, that I think it needs to be stated that most of this "acceptance stuff" really started right here with the program.Starting with step 1, and admitting that "I have an unmanageable problem", we begin our trek on this road to acceptance. But that is only the start, for soon we find ourselves on
If you failed to make past payments in time or were involved in lot other credit problems than surely a loan for buying a car may be harder to come. The lenders prefer avoiding such a borrower. But thanks to many lenders that even bad credit borrowers are now being approved for a car loan. This means if the borrower knows well as to what the lender ensures first in making loan deal, than it becomes a bit easier to get the approval. A loan for buying a car is both secured and unsecured. Lenders’ first concern is to reduce risks in offering the loan. To reduce lender’s risks and hence timely approval it would be better if you take the loan against some property. If you do not wish to risk home or any valued property than the very car you intend to purchase can be pledged as collateral. The lender will take car’s deal papers only to return at the time of full repayment of the loan. You can drive car till then. The advantage is that your bad credit is not a big factor in taking
Many women already know, if you have a physical feature that you don't want people to look at, you show them something else that's more impressive.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the overweight issue.
Here's some hints to deflect people away from looking at areas you don't want them to:
Wear solid colors
Don't wear things that cling, knit fabrics tend to show more faults than others
Make sure your hair and make-up are always perfect
Make sure your nails are always manicured
Wear trendy shoes (Christian Louboutin shoes, $550.00)
Buy trendy handbags (Marc Jacobs bag, $1395.00)
Wear Big Rings and Bracelets
Wear classic silhouettes with straight lines
Here are some things to avoid:
Stripes going around the area of concern
Bright colors on the area of concern
Small scarves or necklaces on a big neck
Small rings and bracelets on large hands and wrists

Everything (accessories) should look proportionate to your size. If eve
How much responsibility does an editor have when it comes to the condition of the work they are choosing to publish?Serious question. What do you all out there think? For some context: I am currently reading a novel that has a lot of mistakes that not only should never have been written, but should have been picked up by the editor, the writer, and the copywriter. There were POV violations all over the place, flat characters, character development issues and contradictions, and even a sentence in the book where a huge line of zeros randomly appears in the middle of a word. The last I might be willing to pass to printing error, but that's pushing it.So, how much of that should have been addressed by the editor before the book went to the press? Do you personally expect more from an editor?(Don't click the read more, there isn't any more after this)

FINDLEY LAKE, N.Y. — Paul Claxton and Michael Letzig each shot 66 Thursday and lead by one stroke over Jeff Wood, Bryn Parry and Franklin Langham at the $600,000 Peek’n Peak Classic at Peek’n Peak Resort as the Nationwide Tour reaches the halfway point in the 2007 season.
Letzig shot his fourth consecutive bogey-free round (his bogey-free streak stretches back to the 12th hole of the first round at last week’s Knoxville Open presented by Food City). The mistake-free golf more…
“Do not look at the faults of others as if you have been appointed to spy over them, but attend to the emancipation of your own selves, for you are slaves, possessed. How much water flows in a mountain without its becoming soft, and how much wisdom you are taught without your hearts becoming soft.” [...]
There are many weapons which cause harm to oneself, for example wine, sex, fame, benefit and power. Sword-play is also one of them. A minor skill does harm and is nothing to be conceited about.
According to Zhuang Zi, there are eight weaknesses and four shortcomings of men, which you must watch out for. These [...]
