Ernie Cline, the co-writer of the controversial movie, “Fanboys,” has just sold a spec script entitled “Thundercade” to Lakeshore Entertainment. The story centers around an adult video game phenom who embarks on a journey with his best friend to reclaim a record which has recently been broken by a younger gamer. Cline says he was inspired [...]

Earlier today we wrote about how Star Wars fanboys were planning on boycotting The Weinstein Co's Superhero Movie due to the way the company is handling the release of Fanboys. I just received a press release from The Weinstein Co, announcing that they would be releasing both cuts of the film on DVD "with the Company exploring options for its theatrical release." But I’m calling bullshit… this press release is well designed corporate spin, which gives the impression that the Fanboys have won, when in fact, this is not a win. The press release reads: “Star War fans nationwide have built a multi-tiered grassroots effort to voice their strong support for one of the earlier versions of the film, including a campaign which generated over 300,000 emails in support for the film. Based on
In the ultimate showdown between the Apple Fanboys and PC Fanboys, this is what happened to one of the most visited Apple weblogs. Glenn Wolsey,a 15 year old prodigy from New Zealand , whose blog glennwolsey.com is thronged by millions of Apple addicts and even those who aren't, everyday, has been hacked by someone called malcor. The site shows the following screen now.As expected, when many fans and avid readers of the blog(which includes me as well) are disappointed, there are also thousands who are pretty excited about the whole event. Read the comments on Malco's blogs here and find out.Just be prepared to read a lot of geeky foul language from anonymous techies from both ends(Mac as well as PC ie).UPDATE: The blog now shows a blank white page, and well as the image read, the blog had been hacked for 24 hours. So we can expect it to get back online quite soon!
This just in - Breaking news - HOLY SHIT!Apple would have been crazy to try and stop 3rd party applications forever but in a milestone announcement today, Apple says they will have a SDK out in February... And the crowd goes wild!!!! On top of that the same SDK will work with the iPod Touch - Double Score. Here you go right from the horse's mouth on the Apple Website... Thanks JOE!Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February. We are excited about creating a vibrant third party developer community around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users. With our revolutionary multi-touch interface, powerful hardware and advanced software architecture, we believe we have created the best mobile platform ever for developers. It will take until February to release an SDK because we’re trying to do two diametrically opposed things at once—provide an advanced and open pl
The anonymous blogger who has claimed to have developed a Mac OSX worm for money has raised a ruckus in the Apple Mac world with people saying “Show me the Code”. Really, an anonymous blogger states they have code, being developed that is a worm, against an exploit that was patched last month. Not a big deal, depending on how often Apple folks update their system against exploits. Just like with any other operating system, updates are important, but should we believe the blogger?
That is the real question, it is great that this guy has developed code, but without seeing it, knowing how it works, it really puts belief at a disadvantage. We do not know anything other than claims, although security focus has said that they have seen or developed something similar as a boundary condition error in Mac OSX.
The other really fun issue is the polarization of the two sides of the fence, one that adamantly refuses to believe that Apple could have flaws (hint: that is why they push security
The Internet is ripe with accusations of “fanboy”, sometimes spelled “fanboi”. Really, the term fanboy is a handy name to call anyone who doesn’t like the same thing as you do; it’s used as an insult and an epithet. And usually directed at the supporters of the second-to-least popular product. Intel users fling it at AMD users, Photoshop users fling it at Gimp users, Windows users fling it at Mac and Linux users, and so on.
In fact, the fanatical devotion to products is found in the user base of the MOST popular product, and furthermore, it is not a “religious” issue of zealotry but a very practical way to act for very logical reasons!
It’s the top dog, not the underdog, that feverishly defends their position. Anybody with a large group of pets can attest to the same herd politics: Cats and dogs have a pecking order based on who was the first pet. Latecomers will meekly accept their place in line, whereas the first pet will v
There is a movie coming out soon called “Fanboys”, starring a whole bunch of unknowns (At least to me) and Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame.

In 1986 Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons came out with a little 12 issue mini-series that promptly set the comics world on fire. The Watchmen re-invented the genre for the next decade, and today remains a seminal influence in the hearts and minds of creators of such luminary status as Joss Wheedon, Darren Aronofsky, and Niel Gaiman. It is widely reguarded as a literary masterpiece, and a natural for film adaptation. In 1989 Joel Silver, the producer behind The Lethal Weapon franchise, and the Die Hard cash cow, teamed with Arnold Schwarzenegger to try to get The Watchmen movie into production. Armed with no script, and hamstrung by their choice of Terry Gilliam (who has a James Cameron-like grasp of budget, and plays really well with the other children) as director, the movie disappeared in a mess of studio infighting. Then in 1991, President Regan's evil master plan of matching the Soviet "defense" budget until their economy tanked, effectively ended the Cold War, (at least in the po
