There are numerous sabermetric pitching stats available. In fact, I probably check out more of those than I do for hitting, but there are a few that stand out in my opinion. VORP is computed for pitchers in a similar way that it is for hitters. Replacement level starters are different than replacement level relievers so there are 2 sets of replacement numbers. To briefly explain the process for finding what replacement level is for a pitcher, the easiest way that I can explain this is that all the pitchers are given a numeric label based on the number of starts they made. Another couple of stats that I really like to compare players is BRAR (Batting Runs Above Replacement) and FRAR (Fielding Runs Above Replacement). These 2 stats are basically the number of runs the player has produced above a replacement level player in both batting and fielding. It's not the same as VORP for offense, but it's relatively close. A-Rod, as you recall, led the majors with a VORP of 96. His BRAR was 86. His FRAR was 16. A-Rod was worth 102 more runs than a replacement level 3rd baseman.

In the 8.45pm incident on Monday, police personnel in a passing patrol car spotted the couple locked in intimate embrace in a car at a hypermarket car park in Tanjung Agas. As the patrol car neared them, the couple sped out of the car park for the Muar-Tanjung Agas road. INTRO TO SABERMETRICS: OFFENSE While the stats that most of us grew up with can do a good job at helping us to compare the relative value of players, many of them are quite flawed and team dependent. The RBI is one such example. Teammates have to get on base to drive them in and over the course of 162 games, there is going to be a big difference in runners on base between many players. Some of that depends on the spot in the order they hit, but most of that depends on the offense surrounding individual players. For example, A-Rod led the majors in RBIs with 156. He also led the majors with runners on base when he came to the plate with 530. Aramis Ramirez led the Cubs in RBIs with just 101, but he only had 395 runners on base. Had Ramirez had 530 runners on base when he came to the plate, he would have driven in 126 runs. Ramirez had an OBI% (Others Batted In Percentage)

I can’t believe I went this far with my music recommendations without featuring one of my all-time favorite bands, ever!
It puzzles me why the indie English alternative rock band, Embrace, have not received such world-wide recognition and appeal like similar bands such as Coldplay, Keane and Snow Patrol. To date they have released 5 studio albums. If you were to ask me, I’d say Embrace’s signature style of music, mostly based on piano rock, is a fabulous one that produced some fine collection of mostly amazing and well-crafted songs (check the recommended songs below). In fact, today’s featured song, Nature’s Law, is a true testament to that.
Nature’s Law is the leading single from Embrace’s latest 2006 studio album, This New Day. It was released a week prior to the album release charting at number 2 in the UK Singles Chart, the band’s highest chart entry to date (although there’s some controversy that it should have been a number 1

The preferred fuel choice across Europe has been diesel for many years, it has been slow in the US but they are starting to embrace diesel as they have faced fuel price increases over the past few months. However drivers in Japan have never embraced diesel, but Nissan hopes to change that with the introduction of the X-Trail SUV which is diesel powered.
The Nissan X-Trail SUV Diesel is expected to hit the market sometime halfway through 2008, this will be the first diesel powered Japanese passenger car sold locally since the 1990s. The Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI is the only diesel passenger vehicle in Japan at the moment, but with the introduction of the Nissan X-Trail SUV, and Honda promising diesel vehicles sometime in 2009, the Japanese could be set for a diesel renaissance.
Diesel did not hit it off well in Japan as the exhaust levels of toxic nitrogen oxides and other pollutants were very high. Now we have clean diesel which should help the comeback of diesel in Japan.

1. Will Felix Pie still be property of the Cubs on Tuesday night?
According to MLB sources, that's becoming a reasonable question as the Cubs continue to show signs of playing in October. Lou Piniella is not exactly a long haul guy, nor is the Tribune Co. in it for the long haul anymore. Those circumstances could help influence GM Jim Hendry to trade the talented center-fielder to make the 2007 team a little better.
Am I the only one who feels faint at the idea of trading Pie for Gerald Laird and Eric Gagne? What are we going to do next year? We'd have to go out and get another CFer anyway. And please don't suggest to me that we re-sign JJ to play CF next year.
I'm actually really disappointed in Lou in that a) Pie is still wasting away down at AAA while Murton and E6 are up here, and b) that he's even being mentioned in trade talks. I would hope that he would have been labeled "untouchab

Here's an interesting one – an ad campaign aimed at advertising creatives. The execs were invited to a competition where they were given one hour to come up with a campaign for a charity.
The entire push of the “Embrace your ego” campaign seems to be playing at the narcissistic nature of the creatives. Most of these execs are worryingly likely to be more than willing to jump themselves at any given opportunity...

Strange as it may seem, the Amish who have always turned their back on technology and other advancements that we all take for granted, have apparently seen solar power as their preferred source of electricity.
Famous for using horse drawn buggies, instead of cars the Amish in Holmes County, Ohio, one of the largest Amish communities, have installed solar power units to around 80% of their homes, granted that their need for power is slightly different to the rest of us, but they do have requirements for light and for household appliances, whereas they were using gas etc, but solar power is safe, clean and it serves as another way for them to keep off the grid so to speak, they can remain cut off from the mains and continue to live their lives how they choose.

Today, Barry Bonds inches closer to breaking the home run record set by Hank Aaron more than 30 years ago. Baseball fans—according to some, divided along lines of race–hotly debate Bonds’ record book eligibility. And, because Major League Baseball has backed itself into a corner, it is doing the only thing it can do: nothing.
MLB cannot embrace Bonds because, while he hasn’t been found guilty of using illegal steroids, he is surrounded by the BALCO controversy and associated with others who have pled or appear guilty. The long-term risk is untenable.
