Font style is an essential part of an Office file, especially when used for Presentations or on Reports. When used properly and effectively, it makes the output more interesting to the intended viewers. However, due to increased mobility and sharing in computer technology, it is sometimes difficult for a document to maintain its style when passed on to different users or opened on different computers. The use of files in PDF format is a very effective way in preserving font styles in a document. But the idea of using PDF (I think; at the moment) is still limited to selected individuals.Luckily, the new Office 2007 (by Microsoft) provides an easy way to maintain the font styles used in a document (Word, PowerPoint, or Excel) even if the computer where you'll open it doesn't contain the fonts you used. Here's how:1. Click the Office Button (the round button on the upper-leftmost corner of the interface)2. Select Word Options (or PowerPoint Options or Excel Options). A new window appears.

As everyone knows, gaming today, whether it’s in hardcore or particularly casual form, is big business. And now myspace is set to enter the casual games business . . . at least in one way. The giant News Corp.-owned social networking phenomenon has entered into a deal with Oberon Media to create a new “gaming” channel on their site.
This will allow users to select from hundreds of casual games which can then be added to their myspace profiles. Just another thing to ensure that myspace users never leave the site! These five-minute distractions will appeal to myspace users of all ages and even allow them to test their wits against other online players.
The “Myspace Games” channel will launch sometime in 2008. — Via Kotaku

Google has finally made embedding a google map as easy as embedding a youtube video. By following these steps you are just a copy and paste away from placing a google map into your web site or blog.Nice feature, google! One of the keys to youtube's popularity has been the ease of adding youtube videos to blogs. Now, placing a google map into your blog is just as easy. I'll be using a map from my NC triangle hiking blog as an example. I have previously not embedded maps. I would take a screenshot and link to my map. Like this example, clicking on the picture would drop one into the google map shots. Here is how to actually embed that map instead of just linking to it.1. Go to the map that you want to embed (my example)2. Click Link to this page in the upper right hand corner3. One of the useful things that you can do in MySpace is to post on comments over at your network peers’ profiles. If you are the creative type, you can even embed pictures in those comments. This is not to difficult to do, however it requires you to know a bit of HTML.
Here’s a quick tutorial that can help you to put a picture in a MySpace comment:
First you need to find the picture you would like to embed in the comment. I strongly recommend that you mind copyrights.
In order to be able to embed a picture in a MySpace comment, you should first upload the image (in JPG, GIF or PNG format) to an Image Hosting service or directly to MySpace. I recommend that you use FlickR or Photobucket as your image hosting services. Both are reliable and easy to use.
Now, you need to locate the URL of the image you uploaded. You can do it by right clicking the image you uploaded and then click Copy Link Location (in Mozilla Firefox) or by righ
You can now embed a Google Map on your site in a similar manner as a YouTube video, rather than having to deal with the API. For novice webmasters, this will likely become a very popular thing to have.
Full details and screenshots can be found on Google Maps Mania.
Now, you can embed Google Maps into your blog or website, just by Copy Pasting, same as we can do for YouTube videos.
Go to Google maps, select you final destination, location which you need to view. On the right hand side you shall find a “Link to this Page” link with a symbol of a ‘link’. Click on it to get the iframe code, which you can just copy & paste into your blog or website.

Blogger Template Design: Tutorial 12Tutorial 11: Starting Your Own Blogger TemplateIf you look at these templates - Lasik, JournallRed, and Minimalizt - you'd notice that the background is not of a plain color, but made from a repeating pattern of an image. This image is called a background image. It can be a single large image that fills up the screen or a small image (say 50 x 50 pixels) that repeats horizontally and/or vertically. The neat thing about using, or embedding, a background image is that you can create any image you like and use it in your blog to make it unique and different from other blogs.A background image can be placed in any container - either inside the Body container (which fills up the entire screen), inside the Post, Sidebar, Comment, or even on a header container (say, a Comment Header). For example, if you look at the Minimalizt template, you'll see that the Comment Header below the post is a rounded green button - which is an image embedded inside the Comm

The leading SEO (Search Engine Optimization) sites will tell you that placing an ad after the first post in your blog's home page is particularly effective. This is because the ad is essentially embedded in the blog content, hence your readers are less likely to develop "ad blindness" and skip over the ad as usual.

When I get the exact same question from two people in the same week, that’s a question that probably needs to be addressed to a larger audience.
The question? Can you embed a Google map right into your Wordpress blog? As you can see below, the answer is, “yes.”
The plugin you need to install is called Geopress. It can not only embed a Google map, but also a Yahoo map as well. For each you will need the respective key. For Google, that is the GoogleMaps Key, and for Yahoo it is the Yahoo AppID. I prefer Google maps, so I opted for the GoogleMaps API registration route. It takes just seconds to get your own GoogleMaps API Key.
Once you’ve installed the plugin, you can configure Geopress to set the default map zoom level and map size. You can read more about the Geopress plugin here. And, even if you don’t want to embed a map into your post, this plugin also adds location information in the form of GeoRSS to your RSS output.

Alice Marwick at her blog tiara.org has a step-by-step set of instructions for downloading, converting and embedding YouTube video clips into a PowerPoint presentation. I haven't tried her technique or downloaded the tools she suggests using for this process, some of you might find her ideas worth pursuing.
One comment she makes struck a chord with me " All this rigamarole should be completely unnecessary soon, as I'm sure Google's PowerPoint clone will include YouTube video embedding as standard." If it does it could be yet another reason for some transition away from PPT to other presentation tools.
