We've had our hands full today mulling over what should we play -- Mario Kart Wii or Metal Gear Online, both titles we weren't expecting until the weekend. We were going to use the snaking joke regardless of the headlining game, but then we realized that you will not be snaking in either game. We've got a rather hefty This Week in Review today. With the chaos in the Democratic Party, it’s ironic that Clinton acolyte Sidney Blumenthal’s book The Strange Death Of Republican America was launched this month. As a matter of fact, the pub date was April Fool’s Day.
Blumenthal says correctly that President Bush’s legacy weighs heavily on the shoulders of the GOP and its candidate. But [...]

The government's flagship program to give struggling homeowners relief from overwhelming mortgage payments has left hundreds if not thousands of callers frustrated by long wait times, lack of follow-up and relatively minor loan modifications that have failed to help.A story last week on msnbc.com generated hundreds of e-mail responses from readers who have called the heavily promoted hotline. The Soviet Russian Buran orbiter, which never orbited, designed to plant Cold War cold space mines among other things, is being put to rest at Germany’s Speyer Technical Museum, of all places. Business-savvy museum technocrats figure that Buran will be better off drawing admission fees here than gathering dust in some long forgotten Russian warehouse somewhere. And I’m sure that they’re right.
I am a bit surprised at all of the sudden space race curiosity here in Germany, however. The Germans have always been a bit sceptical when it comes to space exploration and space racing and space militarization. And I don’t blame them, either. After all, they invented it.

John Himpe has an excellent explanation of why Tom Lukiwski’s comments from 1991 don’t pass the “it was OK back then” test. This will not go away for him until/unless he explains WHY he’s changed his mind over the last 16 years. What brought his epiphany? That we’ve not heard what it is by now, [...]
Am I just being an old fuddy-duddy because April fool's day is the one day that I most dislike of the year? With all the infantile tricks and clever pranks, and now including the 'virtual' pranks, I'm sorry but must admit, 'I'm all 'fooled' out! I can take a good joke as well as anyone else, as long as someone isn't truly offended or hurt in the process. However, after all the jokes and pranks are over for this year, allow me just a moment to explain what I would rather 'celebrate' on April 1st and see if you will agree. I would like to change or redirect the emphasis off of jokes and pranks and in turn mark the day as the end of the first leg (quarter) of the year. Are you up to date on the goals and aspirations you set for yourself this year? Back during New Year's, you and I as well as

Novak Djokovic remains on the #3 position, position he is at for some time now. Novak earned 130 points playing in Dubai Semi-Finals last week. This will be a tough month for Novak in North America as he defends huge number of ATP points. Last year Novak played in the Final of Indian Wells and won Miami so we can't expect for Novak to progress much up in the ranking. And the clay (Rafael Nadal's) season is coming!? The main for Indian Wells has not been announced up to now. Interesting thing about Indian Wells is that both ATP and WTA tours will be played at the same time there, another Novak's memorable Maria Sharapova impression!? I'm torn between just throwing in the towel and trying my best to help things to improve, being the absolute best I can be. There are many reasons behind why I think I should do both. Kentucky faired well in a recent study about junk food sales in the nation's schools. Here's Education Week's glass half-full spin on the story:Junk Food Survey Gives High Marks to Standout StatesOregon and Washington can brag about being most improved when it comes to states with the healthiest school nutrition policies, based on results in a Washington-based consumer-advocacy group's latest annual report card . For the second year, the Center for Science in the Public Interest graded states on whether they restrict the sale and consumption of sugary sodas and items such as candy and chips purchased from vending machines, school stores, or along with the regular school lunch. Oregon moved from an F in the group's 2006 report to an A-minus this year, joining only Kentucky with that grade, the highest achieved this year. Washington state moved from an F to a B-minus... And with their glasses half-empty, this press release from the Center on Science in the Public Interest who prod
I should of pointing this out earlier but then better to be late then never. There was a debate about which is better, having www or without for your domain address. I'm not so sure which one is better but I know that it is not good if you have both. If you start out to have your own domain and hosting services, your blog will automatically having 2 addresses with or without www. From the view point of Google search engine, that is 2 separate blogs. That means separate PageRank for the same blog but different addresses. That is bad because all your effort of building your blog ranking will be split, imagine having to split the backlinks that you built into half.
Thus it is best to choose your domain address either with or without www before you building up links or backlinks. This is how you do it.

Whether believers see the erect penis of Siddhartha Gautama the Awakened One or the silhouette of Waldo Weatherbee the principal of fictional Riverdale High School the recently discovered water stain has become not only a source of inspiration and hope but a powerful reminder of the how objects bearing an image that might be a religious figure or a beloved comic book character can serve as a divisive element between groups who traditionally follow the convictions of peace, love and frolicking high school hijinx.
Thousands of Buddhist Monks and Archie Comic enthusiasts are flocking to the upstate New York home of famed blogger and former Jiffy Lube attendant Bill Gathen to pray to, weep before or to just catch a glimpse of what has quickly become perhaps the most famous water stain in recorded history.
Upon discovering the watermark early Monday morning Mr. Gathen immediately contacted the Institute for Water Stains, Comic Books and Religious Iconography. “It was like that picture of
CHANGELINGIt is true that everyseven years we change.Turning fourteen I startedthinking poetry.I am now twenty-nine andsafe for six more years.15 December 1988A romantic notion exists which states that our bodies renew themselves every seven years. I first heard this from my father and of course everything our dads tell us is the truth. I never questioned this growing up even though I could see flaws in the logic. I've since heard that some of our body parts do exactly this only not always every seven years. I've also heard that it's bunkum.Personally I don't care but it did start me thinking about what exactly might change every seven years. Certainly people do change as they grow older. Much of that has to do with their upbringings and experiences but I wondered if the seven year rule might affect me in ways other than refreshing my spleen. What if the change subtly altered who I was?I cannot explain what it is like to think in poetry. There are people who suffer from a condition
I took some time off in October and early November to get married. If you're interested in the details then you can click over to the blog and read a longer post about it all there. I'll resume updates on DGN next week. My apologies for my sudden disappearance, and thanks to everyone who stuck around.
Hello there Adie supporters,Again i apologise for not posting in the last week and a half but trust me i have a very good excuse this time.On October 13th me and a friend of mine planned a day trip to Universal Studio's and house of horrors. I have never been before so i was kind of looking forward to it. However i did have a gut feeling it wasn't going to be good or something was going to happen.I hope i'm not the only one who has ever expereinced that, the sense of "i've got a bad feeling about this" but you have no idea why.Anyway it is about a 3 hour drive from fort myers to Orlando and we are about 20 minutes away. We are driving in the fast lane on the I4 and suddenly a black SUV swerves infront of us and quickly swerves back into the next lane. A table is on the road so swe try to a
It appears that my views of the candidates are shared by a majority when Zogby conducted a poll on acceptance of each candidate. People were asked which candidate they would definitely not vote for. Bill Richardson did best in terms of least number saying they would not vote for him, followed by Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Chris Dodd. (Richardson, Obama, and Dodd are the three candidates I’ve been most interested in.) Clinton has the most negatives on this list, which does differ from my ranking. I started out following the campaign with an “anybody but Clinton” attitude which has been replaced by “anybody but Edwards, but preferably not Clinton.”
On the Republican side, not surprisingly Ron Paul is the least acceptable. Mike Huckabee is most acceptable, leaving both parties with long shots as most acceptable candidate.

Barron's identified the prison operator sector's recent weakness as a buying opportunity. I agree that the prison population is more likely growing at the 13% forecast by the Pew Charitable Trusts than the incomplete Census report of a 4% growth. We all know how reliable government data are…just look at other statistics like the Jobs Data. However, with the stock up 70% year-over-year, I wanted to take profits. With such an amazing run and with some increased near-term risk, I'd like to see some consolidation or pullback as these issue
Courtesy of Home Run Derby, here's Freddy Sanchez facing off against Jim Balian, a pitcher who won the MVP of the USPPBA (The United States Perforated Plastic Baseball Association). Federal agents thought there was something fishy about Leroy Carr. On four occasions since last December, Carr either crossed the Canadian border or was found near it with thousands of dollars in cash, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court. He also sometimes carried night vision goggles and a GPS device programmed with coordinates for a well-known drug-smuggling trail. But Carr refused to speak with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and they let him go — until he called to ask if they had seen his cocaine.

Yeah, don't get so excited, Ingrid. I'm not sure for how long. What becomes evident pretty immediately is that, not only does Ingrid not know how to cook, she apparently doesn't paint either. She lets her friends do it for her, while she's in the kitchen "cooking." She freezes the action, while she runs to get the meal ready. She’s making Arroz con Pollo. She puts oil in a skillet. (Actually it’s a sauté pan.) And it’s almost as if she heard us talking about her. Her hair is back, there’s a special board for the chicken, and hand washing after handling chicken is highlighted. She begins to brown the chicken, skin side down for 5 minutes. “I need my thongs again.” “I have a thong problem”. At first, I had no idea what she was talking about. She's trying to turn the chicken with a “thong
I don't understand why some people close themselves off to options. I mean, why does a student have to choose between X's class and Y's? Why can't she do both if she wants to? I get it if the choice is restricted by time or money, but if both options are open, why not choose both?I am a "both" kinda girl. If I can't decide between ice cream and cake, I will have both. If I can't decide if I want to vacation in Cambodia or Vietnam, I will go to both. If I can't decide between the new red costume or the green one, I will take both. Same with people. If I like A and B, I want to be friends with both, so why should A mind or try to force me to choose? I really don't like that. That's not my way and I don't appreciate it when someone tries to force me into their way of thinking. The world is big enough for both, so let me have both. Nobody loses a thing by my choice of both. And that, I think, is the crux of the problem. There are insecure people who really believe that if you hav

If your visitors have a good experience at your website, they're more likely to come back again and again. Why not give your visitors a great experience instead? It's fairly easy to turn a website that offers a good browsing experience into a website that offers a great browsing experience. All you have to do is give your visitors what they're looking for, and then you give them more.Websites like SEOmoz and LifeHack don't focus on giving their visitors a good experience - you shouldn't either. Instead of focusing on giving visitors a good website experience, SEOmoz and LifeHack give their visitors a great experience by having the things a typical visitor would look for on their website, and then giving them more.Once someone finds themselves at the SEOmoz site, for example, they have the option to look around at all of the typical search engine optimization firm options - types o

I stumbled across this story at The Daily Telegraph, and while I like to be a “the glass is half-full” kind of person, frankly, I don’t know if I’m buying it.
Reports The Daily Telegraph:
“The one-and-a-half-month-old chihuahua stunned the owners of Pucchin Dog’s shop in Odate in northern Japan when he was born on May 18, as one of a litter, but the only one to have such a remarkable coat.Shop owner Emiko Sakurada said that this is the first time a puppy with these marks had been born out of a 1,000 that she has bred.”
I’ve brought the (Daily Telegraph credited) photo here to show you why I’m being a bit of a nay-sayer on this one, and you may certainly go read the rest of the (short) article over at their site.
Seems to me, that at some point, someone just might discover that heavens… but somehow that perfect heart-shaped coloring was deliberate. I mean… doncha think it’s just a bit too perfect? I mean… n

Wishbone Ash - Locked In(1976)320kbpsEither the mid-'70s or the addition of Ted Turner's replacement, Laurie Wisefield, brought about a severe identity crisis for Wishbone Ash. No longer were they the self-conscious band that evolved from their blues-based debut to their prog precursor Pilgrimage to their progressive tour de force Argus. While Wishbone Ash was still a guitar-oriented band, Locked In provided no originality and, save for a guitar refrain in "Rest in Peace," no memorable passages whatsoever. While his credentials are impressive, producer Tom Dowd was not the man for the job. He was much better suited as a producer of Southern rock, jazz, and R&B acts. Again, Wishbone Ash suffered from inadequate lead vocals, but that wasn't as serious a problem as their atrocious songwriting. Locked In is the album that clearly signified the downfall of this immensely talented and promise-filled band. They never seemed to recover, both from a creative and popularity standpoint, from t
Or make it clear that you haven’t.
When people vote, they’re not entirely voting for the person, they’re voting for the set of ideas that the candidate says they represent. A lot of people don’t vote based on how well they think a candidate can make a choice; they vote because the candidate has decided to believe in the same viewpoint as the voter’s. When a citizen changes their mind on an issue, they might choose to vote for someone else as a result, but when an official changes their mind in between being elected and being inaugurated, where does that leave the voters? All of a sudden they might have a leader who doesn’t believe in one or more of the reasons they were voted in.
Regardless of what my views or your views are on abortion, I’d like to at least know what a candidate’s are before I vote for him/her, and, more importantly, I’d like to know what they’ll be during his/her term.
With Mitt Romney, for instance, apparen
Like an infinite loop, it stretches and its never ending. Henry to Barcelona rumors have become so common a news on sites that nobody bothers to read them now..! Does these rumors have any substance..? Some say yes and some say no. Some say that Arsene was in Paris, meeting some Barca official to discuss a possible move for Theirry in exchange for Eto'o or just cash. It maybe true and it may not be.It all took a new turn when Henry had an interview in which he said he was shocked by Dein's departure and that it was a big mistake. He went on to say that he is an Arsenal player. But the words "I'll stay" that many Arsenal fans expected didn't come from him. The news papers picked on this and brought up a story that Henry wants big money signings at Emirates. So we are trying to keep Thierry happy so that he stays..!We have a 40m warchest and we're trying to sign Trezeguet and Babel and Malouda just to keep Henry happy.!Many Arsenal fans are disgusted with Henry's response to the ru
Neighbor problems are not my favorite thing to tackle, on my blog or in my life offline, but tackle them we must. #686: MUCUS RUNS DEEPMy head feels either very large or very heavy. I can't quite decide which it is. It's not both, or I am sure that I would be bobbing head-down on the floor like an upside down Bozo the Clown bop bag.I am leaning toward heavy rather than large, and I do mean leaning. I am leaning on everything. Right now it happens to be a coffee mug on an old desk. Earlier, it was a shopping cart in the personal hygiene aisle of the grocery store. The bed has been my best support thus far. I cannot complain about the bed. It's fluffy. When I was at the grocery store, I spent a long while in front of the pharmacy counter, checking over all the boxes of medication. I wanted one with everything in large doses. It couldn't be for colds and not flus. It couldn't be for allergies and not colds. It had to be a cold and flu and allergy medication. Also, it couldn't have ibuprofen, because ibuprofen makes me an easy bleeder when combined with the anti-depressant I am on,
With the vast number of creams and lotions available in the local pharmacy you would think that they could get rid of acne, but not all of them work. Every person is different and the cause of their acne may also be different. So this means that for you to get rid of your acne you would need to try many different creams and techniques, unless you knew exactly what was causing your acne. Then you could buy exactly the product or service that could eliminate your skin problem. For example, to get rid of acne caused by infection, you might need to use an antibiotic cream or antibiotic capsules. But, to get rid of acne caused by excessive oil secretions, you might try Azelaic acid cream. Or, if your acne was caused by poor diet, then using a cream that had a form of vitamin A might help you get rid of acne. But if hormonal acne was your problem, then internal cleansing, supplements, including fish oil, could get rid of your acne. Even though teenagers, and indeed, anyone affected by acne w

People were shocked to hear that Sen. Barack Obama - a black man who speaks so well…he's such a good speaker - said that he had trouble getting cabs on 60 Minutes. How could a senator and a presidential candidate possibly face discrimination from taxi drivers? But it's a tale as old as rhyme for most black men in this country. I work and live in New York City, and the sight of an empty cab sailing past my outstretched arm is a common occurrence.
Thank God New York is truly a 24-hour metropolis. Trains run well into the wee hours of the morning, and even though you may have to wait a half-hour for a train, you'll hardly ever be stranded in the armpit of the City for long. Not so for London. London tubes stop running around 12:30 and 1 am, leaving bar stragglers and late-night party goers lining up for black cabs. When I was in London last week, I spent an evening with friends in Soho and missed my window for the tube back to my hotel in Earl's Court. I was fo

Fog is trying hard to keep the city in bed. I’m not one to fight. Responsibility lies somewhere beyond that mist. My obligations are trying desperately to reach me, but right now I’m screening my calls. One of the greatest moments in cinematic history was when Peter spent all day in bed during Office Space. Today I'm living the dream. Ok, so I’m not really going to stay IN bed all day. As much as I wish I could, I just can’t sleep that much, and I can’t count on daytime television to keep me riveted either. Still, I’m not getting dressed, not leaving my apartment, and not going to do anything that anyone might consider even remotely useful. I’m noting this for posterity because I’m pretty sure this moment is the one I’ll remember later when I am wishing I hadn’t wasted my day. But fuck later. I never liked him anyway. Now, where’s my coffee…Tags: Fog Office Space Responsibility Slacking
You may have noticed a few weeks ago when I put a nifty little link in my blogroll for Bronx Bloggers. Me being among the evil empire haters club elite, I am sure that seemed out of place to you. Honestly, it sent shivers down my spine.
And now, you may think that I have totally lost control of CGBB by renting to Bronx Bloggers for an entire week!!! I may have lost contol. But hey, regardless of the team they follow, us sports bloggers gotta stick together.
Besides, Steve posts a lot of interesting stuff over at Bronx Bloggers. Click on the thumbnail when you have a chance and take a look.
Christmas is just around the bend, and if you've been in a mall since the fall equinox, you've no doubt had your eardrums vibrated with the staples of consumerism and pushing people over at Wal-Mart for $99 laptop computers: Christmas songs. Yes, it's the time of year where all people, black and white, rich and poor, Christians and Jews, pull out the dusty old CD's emblazoned with falling snow and proud pines to listen to some great Christmas music.
However, sometimes Christmas songs are not all they appear to be. They also can carry a dark side. For example, "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" tells a story of innocence lost and bitterness gained anew.
I'm sure you know it, but this song allows us adults to have a small joke at a child's expense. After sneaking downstairs, the aforementioned child, in this case played by John Cougar Mellencamp, sees his mother kissing Santa Claus. Of course, we recognize that Santa Claus is actually his father, and therein lies the jo

Wal-Mart (WMT) is at it again. They are cutting, well slashing actually, prices on many consumer electronics in an effort to do anything to get people into the stores ahead of the holidays.
Since the company just announced it expects flat same-store-sales this isn't out of the company's strategy. They used to slash toy prices around Thanksgiving to use them as a loss leader to draw customers in and keep them out of Toys R Us. This is not any different.
It is essentially a scorched earth or poisoning the well strategy. Reuters said that the price cut on a Panasonic 42" Plasma TV was down $500.00 to $1,294.00. If it is an apples to apples comparison it seems like it is going to be hard for them to do this and make any money. This is just an attempt to drive up the same-store-sales in my opinion.
Bext Buy (BBY) is down 1.5% at $52.25, Circuit City (CC) is down 2% at $25.55, Radio Shack (RSH) is down 2.5% at $17.10, and even Conn's (CONN) is down almost 3% at $23.00. Other large

It would be entirely wrong to describe Wesley Clark as having been idle during 2006. He has travelled extensively, making appearances, campaigning, fund raising and generally doing good work for the party in an election year. But he has yet to be the focus of much media interest in his presidential ambitions for 2008. Perhaps that's because he was a bit of a disappointment in 2004 - he had plenty of promise but, through disorganisation and lack of forward thinking, entirely failed to deliver. "One thing he wants to do is avoid the mistake he made last time of jumping in when it was too late," Associated Press reported of Clark at the end of November. Ironically, unless he gets moving very soon, it's a mistake he may already be repeating.
Just when I thought I was through with posting about John Amaechi and his "revelation" that he is a retired gay basketball player, Tim Hardaway, formerly of the NBA hisownself, drops a few bombs on a Miami radio station regarding his feelings towards gay people.
