      Even If Earthquakes Come
I live in California where our three main concerns are fire, landslides and earthquakes. My daughter and I were talking about "the big" one and she reminded me that God is STILL in control. (Sometimes God speaks to us through our children, and I am forever grateful I am not too proud to hear that whisper!) Tonight I am meditating on Psalm 46 and I have this desire to write a poem to the

This is an example of mental instability in much the same way as the proponents of Global Warming.I was waiting for a few days to write on this but, in the light that the Des Moines Schoolmarm Club for the ignorant and confounded has endorsed Czarina and McCain for President, I thought to brighten up my evening by posting this link to the video of Israel creating earthquakes just to piss of the Arabs.Naturally, there will be people that actually believe this kind of crap just like they believe that the Federal Government is plotting the assassination of Ron Paul.

Endangered turtles wash ashore Malaysia after Indonesia earthquakes
About 50 endangered sea turtles have washed ashore with logs and debris in Malaysia, possibly due to strong currents after recent earthquakes in Indonesia, an official said Monday. Two of the hawksbill turtles, which landed Saturday on muddy Kuala Tunjang beach in the northwestern state of Kedah, were found dead, while four others were injured and being treated, said state fisheries director Sani Mohamad Isa. The rest of the turtles have been released into the sea, Sani said. He said that the logs and bamboo washed ashore with the turtles were not found in Malaysia, and that plastic water bottles and shampoo containers in the debris had Indonesian labels. "We believe the logs are from Indonesia" and washed over to Kedah by strong currents following recent tremors in Indonesia, he said.Indonesia News Blog: http://indosnesos.blogspot.com

He made the request when giving directives to dozens of district heads from across West Sumatra regarding the handling of the impact of recent earthquakes in the region. EARTHQUAKES’ MESSAGE AND HEAVY BURDENS
1- When the earth is severely quaked.2- And the earth throws out its heavy burdens.3- And man enquires, “What has come over it?”4- On that day, it will tell its information.99-The Earthquake, 1-4The Arabic word “zilzal” means “earthquake.” The above verses are quoted from the sura The Earthquake. These verses are believed to refer justifiably to the earthquake expected to occur in the end of the world; however, we should take due notice of its wider sense, depicting earthquakes in general. The fourth verse announces that men will be informed on that day. A terrible disaster like an earthquake associates in one’s mind destruction in the first place causing material damage and bodily injury, leading to a general terror and panic. This announcement must have astounded the public. To establish a link between earthquakes and knowledge of certain facts seemed inconceivable to people up until the last century. Today we have a great many data in our possession regarding the ground

Earthquakes, Hurricanes, & Tsunamis - Oh My!
Update: Looks like the tsunami watch for Hawaii has been cancelled. Thank goodness.  However, the devastation in Peru turned out to be worst than was first expected. So far, 48 dead and 350 injured. My prayers are with them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At about 1 pm HST, a 7.5 earthquake hit the central coast of Peru causing damage to some of it’s buildings. Luckily, no one was reported injured. Hawaii residents are now being warned that this earthquake could possibly generate a tsunami which may hit the Hawaiian Islands around 2am, Thursday. I’ve been watching the news all afternoon and so far nothing has been confirmed. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Hurricanes, Earthquakes, and Meteors; oh my!
Sitting out on my porch tonight, enjoying the lovely sunset over the ocean and waiting for Hurricane Flossie, I saw a freakishly close meteorite (at least I think that’s what it was since I’ve not seen anything like that before) go down into the water, probably about 10 miles out, if that. I could see the large fireball streak down through the dusky sky, in a sort of serpentine curve, leaving a trail of white smoke in its wake. We live at altitude so I had a very good view. What’s weird is, it seemed to break apart as it came down, and one of the pieces just hung there in the sky, burning like a bright white piece of smoke or something, I don’t know; not moving, just hanging there, gradually streaking out horizontally as it was pulled by the wind. Maybe it was the setting sun behind a dense puff of smoke, but it sure looked weird. I watched it for about 20 minutes, half-expecting it to suddenly take off or something.   Ok, maybe I spend too much time o

Hey, earthquakes, hurricanes... Hawaii's got it all...
So I'm frying up some italian sausage and the window starts rattling, for about 10 seconds. There's nothing else unusual going on anywhere else in the house, so I figure I'll check the time in case there was a small earthquake. 7:28. During "Fat Walk" on ABC a bit over a half hour later there's a hurricane update.... oh, and by the way, there was a 5.3 quake about 20 miles south of Hilo on the Big Island at 7:28pm.... any other day and that'd been one of the first mentions on the 10 o'clock news, as a 5.3 is a once every year or two or three event if I recall correctly. Here's the LINK to the USGS Hawaii earthquake mapAnyway, the current thinking is the hurricane won't hit the island directly, but might generate surf and 40-50 mph winds on the southeast side as well as surf on most of the east side. No talk about the Kona side yet. More updates later, if I'm still up (I'm getting to where I actually go to bed around night news time -10pm here), I'll update any new news I

      Welcome Back, Earthquakes
The MLS All-Stars will play Celtic tonight at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (pictured) in Denver (okay, actually Commerce City, Colorado). It should be an entertaining game if you believe the claims from the Celtic camp that they intend to take this game seriously, especially after Chelsea lost 1-0 last year in the All-Star Game. Unfortunately for Celtic, they will be playing in a heat they aren’t accustomed to as well as an altitude that perhaps none of the players have experienced. The big news out of Denver yesterday, however, is the announcement that the San Jose Earthquakes will return to MLS next season as an expansion club. However, for you NFL fans, the expansion will be similar to the Cleveland Browns brief absence from the league; the Earthquakes name, uniforms, and history (including the team’s MLS Cups in 2001 and 2003) remain in San Jose. For the most part, I’m happy about this. It shows the strength of the league to be able to return to an area th
