There were some tense moments at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Slope Oak Wednesday morning when, during a baptism ceremony, the Assistant Pastor, Father Axel Manheart, snatched the baby from its godmother and attempted to drown it in the baptismal font. The baby's mama, 17-year old Audrey Sweeney, knew in an instant that something was terribly, terribly amiss."We knew something was wrong rig

Oh no, we’ve only gone and done it! In a moment of sheer madness (fuelled by Pier pressure) we have decided to enter this year’s Birdman competition, which will be gracing Worthing Pier in all its colourful glory for the first time this year. Never mind that it involves ‘flying’ off a [...]
Whilst there are a host of underwater cameras currently available – such as the previously featured SeaLife SL321 ECOshot – these, in the main, tend to be hand operated but, for those that want to leave their hands free (to swim, for example, or gesticulate in sheer terror as a shark swims by) this swimming mask with integrated digital camera, billed as the world’s first, could be the answer
When its first quarter numbers came out last month, pawn loan provider and payday loan operator Cash America International Inc. (NYSE: CSH) said revenue from pawn loan and cash advance fees boosted first-quarter earnings higher than previously expected. The Fort Worth-based company said earnings rose 34 percent to $25.8 million, or 86 cents per share, from $19.2 million, or 63 cents per share, in
Not everybody gets to turn 47 with so much pizazz and added helpings of goodwill from dear friends. George Clooney who celebrated his birthday yesterday is lucky that way. A permanent fixture on any Hot/Beautiful People list, this salt and pepper actor has got dollops of charm that smoothly layers everybody Clooney meets. So he had John Mayer and Fergie singing him sweet nothings at the Costume Institute Gala last week, his very own birthday party Armani-style (the designer himself threw it) at Bungalow 8 and then a romantic dinner from his girlfriend Sarah Larson. Birthday wishes for the perfect man and his perfect life (may the happiness continue)! But did you know that Clooney owes his dishy looks to some help from plastic surgery? In an interview with his pal Julia Roberts las
Johan Santana’s Mets’ debut was nearly all that Mets’ fans could expect from the southpaw.Santana struck out eight over seven innings, giving up only three hits – one of them a two-run homer to right-handed slugger Josh Willingham.Santana wasn’t the only story down in Miami, as all of the Mets’ position players except for Brian Schneider reached base.Jose Reyes exorcized his season-ending demons from 2007 with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.Luis Castillo reached base three times, enabling David Wright to drive in three runs as a part of his two-double day.Carlos Beltran also notched two doubles and traversed centerfield flawlessly after off-season knee surgery.Newcomers Angel Pagan and Ryan Church each got a hit, scored a run, and drove in one as well. The bullpen pitched tw
If your stomach churns just at the thought of speaking in front of a group of people, you’re not alone. In fact, people rate public speaking as their number one fear - even ahead of death (hence the old joke that you would rather be in the coffin than giving the eulogy)! Think about [...]
I’ve been an “out” atheist since I was a teenager when I was put on the spot about the truthfulness of the Bible. Having grown up in the backwater areas of the United States the only other atheists I knew were my brothers and my dad. I was in my early twenties and [...]
It has gotten to the point where everyday we hear new ways in which Al Gore and the Global Warming fanatics have attempted to pull the wool over our eyes. One of Al Gore's assertions over the past few years is that anthropogenic global warming is reducing the polar bear population. Well, it turns out that the natives who live among the Polar Bears think Al Gore is full of crap. Sadly, this...

Just the mere mention of the word menopause will give any woman some jitters. For members of the female gender, this stage in their lives is as scary as nightly visits from Freddie Kruger. You too would be scared if you knew that you will be haunted by the symptoms of menopause, which include hormonal [...]
Conservationists were in tears last week as over 10,000 wildebeest drowned in a freak accident – that’s over 1% of the total species population and over three times the life-loss of 911. There was no unusual flooding at the time and no extraneous circumstances to the deaths, so what went wrong? SOURCE
Three Swedish nationals died in a local hospital Friday after being rescued by surf lifesavers from Kuta Beach, Bali. The dead were identified as Kent Jansen, 61, Anders Davist Lan, 70, and Eva, 58. The identity of a companion who was swimming with the three is yet to be revealed. An official at the Tourist Security Board, I Ketut Sudiana, said Saturday the four tourists were rescued by his team from Kuta Beach and rushed to a local hospital, where doctors were unable to revive three of them.
Al Gore and his Global Warming myths have officially reached a new level of absurdity. This time the arrogance and condescending ignorance surpasses anything anyone could have imagined. I advise anyone reading this to remove any sharp objects from your vicinity; this is going to get really ugly. This Saturday, we will all be showered with the best liberalism has to offer. On Saturday, Al Gore and a bunch of rock stars will be putting on a world Concert, “Live Earth.” This concert, of course, is going to cool the planet. Yes, after all the people around the globe are done getting stoned out of their minds at a rock concert, they are all going to help pass liberal policies that will save the Planet from Global Warming. Those who attend the concert will promise to pressure their country to sign treaties to cut global warming “pollution,” personally reduce carbon dioxide “pollution” (I assume by taping their mouths shut) and plant trees, among other things. Bishops in the Church of England recently admitted that God has attacked England.
One diocesan bishop has even claimed that laws that have undermined marriage, including the introduction of pro-gay legislation, have provoked God to act by sending the storms that have left thousands of people homeless.
While those who have been affected by the storms are innocent victims, the bishops argue controversially that the flooding is a result of Western civilisation’s decision to ignore biblical teaching.
Translation: God attacked members of the majority heterosexual community in order to provoke a fear-based revocation of all rights and privileges currently afforded to the minority gay community of England. God will continue such attacks until survivors get it through their heads that “If God doesn’t like it and the Henchmen of God agree, it must die”.
The old days were gone. The rivalry of the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings will be missed by many. Three years ago these were the top two teams in the NBA but now they are even struggling to get in the playoff.
Though the Lakers and the Kings are different teams now, the atmosphere of excitement and anticipation is still alive.
Sunday night, Kobe Bryant scored only 19 points. Yet the LA Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings in a balance scoring game.
Bryant was content as a facilitator dishing off 13 assists to his teammates. Maurice Evans scored 21 points to lead six Lakers in double figures. Walton had 18, Andrew Bynum 14, Smush Parker 13, and Brown 10.
It was a nip-and-tuck battle in the first half as the Kings tried to defend blue paint where they got pounded the whole game. The Lakers tightened up their defense and went on to 12-0 run to extricate themselves from the Kings.
Ron Artest led the Kings with 26 points and Kevin Martin had 23. Mike Bibby had an off night making onl
My lovely, darling, always sunshine of a daughter recently became opinionated. There are activities she likes and those she most certainly does not. She loves kicking the soccer ball, loves watching Dora, loves going shopping. She hates eating broccoli, she hates taking a nap, she hates brushing her teeth. We do all of these activities regardless of her passion for or against each one, however, she is more than welcome to voice her opinion. We listen. We nod. Then we make her do it anyway............

Beach at Tela, HondurasTela, like many of the north coast Honduran cities is aspiring to become a tourist mecca and has some big plans in the making for an ambitious tourism project. They see that as their only hope to improve the economy by providing jobs. Tela is a medium-sized city located about half way between San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba on the Caribbean sea. In a really tragic story the other day, the Honduran La Prensa reported that two vacationing teenage Honduran girls, their brother, a cousin, and a female friend of the family drown off a public beach in Tela. Apparently one or more got caught in the undertow and the others drowned trying to rescue them. This area has a very strong undercurrent and in the past 6 months there have been 10 drownings in that exact spot. The danger is so well known that the local fishermen call that area "el cementerio de los muertos" (the cemetery of the dead). The municipalidad (city government) cannot afford to post lifeguards on this city be
