A blonde is taking the driving portion of her driver's license exam. She handles most of the maneuvers quite well. She has a little trouble parallel parking, however, and winds up a couple of feet from the curb. "Could you get a little closer?" the examiner asks. The blonde then unbuckles her seat belt and slides over toward the examiner. She asks, "Now what?"

Concern over driving tests in the NorthAlthough this story from RTE last week led with the Minister for Transport's claim that driving tests will soon be available 'virtually on demand', more interesting was the information further down concerning an independent review of road safety in Northern Ireland.Of particular note was the fact that up to 5,000 people a year could be passing their test in the North without reaching the proper standard. The figure was based on the fact that significantly fewer people were seen to pass their test when the examiner was being overseen by a supervisor in the back seat. Also, it was revealed that some speed cameras in the jurisdiction had been set to record only severe breaches of the speed limit, as the police did not have the resources to handle all cases.

Then he planned to drive home — by himself again. The state's decision to give his father a driver's test took a lot of pressure off his 64-year-old son, Bill Couch, of Clinton. The son said he sometimes follows his father in his car to make sure his dad is driving safely."I feel a lot better about that," Bill Couch said.Alden Couch's new license that he received in the mail a little more than a week ago expires in 2012.During his recent driver's test, he admitted he wasn't bothering
