I've been drawing since I was 3. I've never taken a drawing class. Mom told me I, first, drew a mother putting her baby to sleep in a cradle.
Things have evolved since then, as I felt steered towards somewhat of a fashion-design-meets-manga hybrid. Lots of half-naked bodies, endless legs, owl-like eyes, full-fledged lips and size zero waists all wrapped up in a touch of ambiguous endurance of

I am always fascinated by pencil drawing and sketches. From the very young age I have passion for drawing and still now when I am a teacher, I love to teach simple and easy tips/techniques to my nursery class students. I enjoy the creativity and versatality of my student's art/drawings. From the web, you can find many resources or sites, which can teach you FREE lessons, tips about drawing. Toad Hollow Studio is run by by Carol Rosinski, who is an artist and basically teaches pencil drawings. She is author of "Drawing Made Easy", but at her site and blog, she is offering a lot of free stuff for drawing learners. The name of the site is very attractive and Carol says: "Since my artwork is inspired by the life I see around me everyday, I named my art studio "Toad Hollow Studio." Currently they are offering some really cool prizes that

The US military is drawing up plans for a "surgical strike" against an insurgent training camp inside Iran if Republican Guards continue with attempts to destabilise Iraq, western intelligence sources said last week. One source said the Americans were growing increasingly angry at the involvement of the Guards' special-operations Quds force inside Iraq, training Shi'ite militias and smuggling weapons into the country. Despite a belligerent stance by Vice-President Dick Cheney, the administration has put plans for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities on the back burner since Robert Gates replaced Donald Rumsfeld as defence secretary in 2006, the sources said. However, US commanders are increasingly concerned by Iranian interference in Iraq and are determined that recent succes

Volume two of Stephen King's seven part "Dark Tower" series is a very different beast to volume one. This is a good thing, as I found that the first book tried to hard to be an epic. You can read my review of that here.
In volume two, Roland, the Last Gunslinger finds three doors into other places and people. The book is entirely set on a seemingly endless beach. The beach that the Gunslinger

One of the best ways to organize your ideas and produce tangible results from brainstorming sessions is to use a mind map. A mind map is simply an organic way of growing your ideas from one central topic to many related subtopics; this branching process helps you step down from an initial, abstract concept down to more specific and concrete ideas. This screencast shows how to draw mind maps using SmartDraw.

Waking up to find your house is on fire is one of those nightmares that we all hope we never have to live through - but it happened to Justin Ruthven-Tyers (picture) and his wife Linda when they were living in an ancient cottage on the edge of Exmoor back in 1992. The house was 'upside down' with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living accommodation upstairs and Justin describes waking to a strange roaring noise, then reaching up to feel the ceiling above his head hot to the touch before making a hasty exit. Within minutes, the building was a blazing inferno. Despite having no practical experience of building or woodwork, Justin decided to rebuild it himself, and having done so, kind of caught a building bug which for some obscure reason resulted in a decision to construct a gaffer

This picture was drawn by a young Chadian boy in a camp for displaced persons in Eastern Chad. His drawing describes the attack on his village by Janjaweed militias from Sudan. On the top left hand corner of the drawing is written ‘ataque village’ (French for ‘attack of the village’). The attackers, wearing military uniforms and on camels are shooting civilians with machine guns and burning their houses. Bullets are coming from all over. Next to each civilian that is shot is the word ‘Morts’ which is the plural of ‘dead’ in French.More posts on The Road about DarfurPicture courtesy wagingpeace.info

We have had another birthday! My hubby works with someone who is a very talented artist. This is a pencil sketch of our daughter drawn from a photo of her. She loved his drawings and has said how she would love to have one so we asked him. It took about a month but he drew a picture of her and at no charge! Thank you Jonathan! Our daughter absolutely loves it, in fact, I think she was trying not to cry when she opened it. She was so surprised and happy!

Light is fundamental to photography. It illuminates the subject being photographed, and records its image on the film. The word “photography” comes from the Greek and means to draw or to write (graphos) with light (photos). From the 5th century BC to the present, we have been fascinated by images formed by light. An odd creature that relates on a familiar and personal level. At times I wonder if this piece is a self-portrait. Frank Thomas, at least in my opinion, still has some baseball left in him - this despite Thomas having notoriously slow Aprils lately. Apparently, at least one other American League team agrees; according to Buster Olney of ESPN The Magazine, the Oakland Athletics are debating internally as to whether they will sign Thomas to a contract - probably within the next 48 hours. Prior to his release from the Toronto Blue Jays, Thomas was batting only .167 in 60 at-bats, prompting talent evaluators to question whether Thomas' bat speed has regressed to the point of no return. While the A's are tied for first in the AL West, they are debating whether Thomas is worth the trouble; the A's want to ensure that their young base of core players continue getting their at-bats. But on the flip-side, they'r
Typically, complex circuits are not arranged in nice, neat, clean schematic diagrams for us to follow. They are often drawn in such a way that makes it difficult to follow which components are in series and which are in parallel with each other. The purpose of this section is to show you a method useful for re-drawing circuit schematics in a neat and orderly fashion. Like the stage-reduction strategy for solving series-parallel combination circuits, it is a method easier demonstrated than described. Let's start with the following (convoluted) circuit diagram. Perhaps this diagram was originally drawn this way by a technician or engineer. Perhaps it was sketched as someone traced the wires and connections of a real circuit. In any case, here it is in all its ugliness: With electric

This information was supposed to lead me to a new way of eating that would make my symptoms improve or go away. Well, it didn't work out exactly as hoped. I found out two of the meds I was taking were causing a lot of the symptoms. So now I have changed or eliminated those meds. Handicraft is the term given to an artifact made by using conventional methods and tools. It is characterized by minimum or no use of machines. Early civilizations witnessed the making of handicrafts for various purposes. A particular section of the people began making handicrafts for royalty or the influential people of the period, for trade and commerce and for the general public. Indus Valley Civilization in India observed the mass production of pottery and beads for the purposes mentioned above. The invention of the metallurgical techniques led to a great development in the production of metal handicrafts. Copper was the first metal to be discovered and numerous artifacts were made in copper and bronze. Similarly gold and silver and finally iron proved to be decisive in the metallurgic

Werner Pfarr is an artist friend who lives in Nice, France and makes great little drawings that he publishes on Awaiting a Drawing. What I love about Werner's work is his projects. One project is his Free Drawings. Werner offers a free drawing and sends it to the first person who requests it asking only that they make a photograph of the drawing in their home (or wherever) and email the photo back to him. Werner then makes a drawing of that photograph which he offers as the next free drawing. Above I have posted my photograph of his Free drawing #16.
