Man I wish I was leading that dive. I was up on the boat and just as my divers went down a few whales went by. They (the whales, the divers had no idea what was coming) turned themselves around and passed outside of the divers as the divers hit the edge of the reef at "Hoover's" then turned around again and headed directly to the divers. A female and her calf went directly overhead while an escort whale passed about 50 feet outside of Cathy and the group.All were thrilled. 2000 or so dives here and I've yet to see a whale underwater, bummer.Anyway, it was a good day of diving. The whales were definitely the highlights, but Cathy also found a yellow frogfish she's been watching grow over the last month or two... and at the end of our second dive (at an undisclosed location) she came up

Part of the Long Island University Marine Biology group, here for 3 weeks, these girls had only just been snorkelling for the first time then one night at dinner decided they wanted to learn to dive. After only 2 days they had already established themselves as the loudest and most troublesome members of the 22 students, so I thought, “hmmm, this could be interesting.” It turned out to be one of the funniest PADI Open Water courses ever.It was a bit slow at first, with both girls trying to convince themselves that they weren’t actually going to die. For sport or safety, hurtling to Earth from space without the protective shroud of a heavily engineered space vehicle seems like sheer lunacy—a hellish descent punctuated by intense heat and terminal. But the physics actually works out. With a heat-resistant space suit and the right kind of chutes, such a daredevil plunge should indeed be possible. Future space divers will need a suit able to withstand the high heat of reentry and provide adequate oxygen to the diver. This handbook is fun, yet very important! It is fun to practice the signs, but I've also learned many emergency signs for diving, I feel more secure knowing that my buddy understands me underwater.
Vitamin doses can reduce ill-effects of scuba diving on divers' circulation, a study suggests.The scientists from Croatia and Norway gave vitamins C and E, which work as antioxidants, to divers, the Journal of Physiology reported.The vitamins stopped ill-effects of the dive on the cells lining blood vessels, which can lead to high blood pressure and other associated diving problems.But diving experts said the vitamins would have a limited impact."The intervention showed a positive effect" said Ante Obad, lead researcherThe researchers, from the University of Split School of Medicine in Croatia and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology carried out the study on seven professional divers before a 30-minute, 30-metre dive.They performed two dives 24 hours apart, with doses of vitamins C and E administered two hours before the second one.Six of the divers took part in a second trial eight months later, in which some were given antioxidants while others received a dummy pill.Th

Fishermen diving for shellfish in the Firth of Clyde last month discovered a 19th century Italian sculpture by the Italian Rinaldo Rinaldi buried in silt. The bust is believed to have been lost during a shipwreck 130 years ago. It has been perfectly preserved and it estimated to be worth £45000. However the fishermen will have to wait to receive a salvage award.
