Whether we try to or not we end up putting down roots. It happens. I don't think you can live in a place for longer than 2 years without growing roots whether you intended to or not! LOL.
Today was our 20th Anniversary and we celebrated in part by taking the children on a train ride through some beautiful countryside. I can't believe we've lived just 45 minutes from this awesome tourist

Throughout history, science has changed lives and dramatically altered the way in which the universe is perceived. Focusing on the 100 most significant scientific events of all time--from Archimedes' discovery of the two fundamental principles underlying physics and engineering (levers and buoyancy) in 260 B.C.E. to human anatomy, Jupiter's moons, electrons, black holes,
It’s been yet another hard week of work on the job and blogging fronts, but there’s been plenty to show for it. I didn’t submit any articles to carnivals last week, so there’s not much to report in that direction, but there are a few sites that I discovered in the last couple of weeks [...]

INVENTION OF THE FIRST LASER
When the first working laser was reported in 1960, it was described as "a solution looking for a problem." But before long the laser's distinctive qualities-its ability to generate an intense, very narrow beam of light of a single wavelength-were being harnessed for science, technology and medicine. Today, lasers are everywhere: from research laboratories at the

The earliest evidence of technological progress in the Indian subcontinent is to be found in the remains of the Harappan civilization (4000-3000 BC). Archaeological remains point to the existence of well-planned urban centres that boasted of private and public dwellings laid out in orderly fashion along with roads and drainage systems complementing them. The drainage systems were particularly remarkable for the times since they were built underground and were constructed in a manner to allow for regular cleaning. Smaller drains from private homes connected to the larger public drains. Larger private dwellings were invariably multi-storied and all homes were constructed from standardized fired bricks and provided for separate cooking areas and toilets. Storage facilities for grain and goods

Just a couple of recommendations on bands that I've been listening to lately, typically discoveried late at night as always :-). All bands that I find very interesting and different in their own ways. I guess I'm in a sort of post-rock mode at the moment so many of them have aspects of that.Gregor SamsaSo first up, is this post-rock act from Virginia, US.A very nice and clean sounding dream piece, with focus on simplicity and pure vocal harmonies. This is what makes them quite different from many other post-rock acts. The usage of vocals, to this extend, that this band do, kind of makes them come closer to some of the nice lush & dreamy sounds you hear in for example Slowdive, The Zephyrs and even some Sparklehorse. The music really don't stop at guitar arrangements, but in fact lifts to
The influence of dreams on our civilization has quite various aspects and many scientists keep trying to explain them. They create and prove theories but all of a sudden the theories begin ruining and again and again wise men try to find explanations to what we see in time of dreaming.
The only fact that cannot be debated is that when dreaming you switch off your conscious and subconscious comes

There is a new way to treat lung cancer with four-dimensional protons. Sounds way out and kind of science fiction like, but there is some validity to the theory and on-going research. The 4D Proton treatment is different than that of the x-rays traditionally used in radiation type therapies. Protons can potentially obliterate lung tumors without damaging as much localized healthy tissue. There is currently lots of discussion of putting this new technology to work and it has been brought up at the American Association of Physicists in Medicine meeting in Seattle. In fact a small study was already done on four patients using protons to treat lung cancer. X-ray cancer therapies use multiple beams, which also go thru non-cancerous tissue harming the lungs and tissue as they exit. The positively charged subatomic protons only move a small distance thru the body. Right now it is a bit hard to control the Protons trajectories, however the science is a viable option in the future with further

By: Deon Melchior Discoveries made by scientists in the fields of the brain's ability to operateA variety of studies have been conducted that have given scientists further insight into the operation of our brains. By applying a variety of technologies that will enable them to reach a better understanding of these synchronizations, they are then better able to determine the specific functions of the individual brain being studied. Once the human is aware of the specific functions and state of his or her brain, it is actually possible, using a variety of stimuli and techniques discovered and developed over the past few decades, to use the brain itself to control, alter and/or promote these various states. Brain synchronization and the way it relates to the process of brain enhancement:The revelations of studies related to brain lateralization (that the right and left hemispheres of our cortex operate in differing modes and rhythms) led scientists to conclude that humans generally empha

For centuries, the "Mona Lisa", the world’s most famous painting, has been shrouded in mystery. There has been much debate as to its origin and meaning. Many have also speculated as to what kind of hidden references Da Vinci may have worked into the portrait. Now a French inventor has found some intriguing new secrets about the beloved painting.Parisian engineer Pascal Cotte used an ultra-detailed digital scanning device he invented to delve into the layers of paint, allowing him to "look" into the past of Leonardo Da Vinci's 16th-century portrait. One puzzle for art buffs is why the Mona Lisa has no eyebrows or lashes. But Cotte found that the world's most famous painting actually did originally included both brows and lashes. He used his 240-megapixel scans of the painting to reveal lost features of the painting that were obliterated by long-ago restoration efforts."With just one photo you go deeper into the construction of the painting and understand that Leonardo was a genius,"
By: Deon Melchior Myths established in creative learning for innate abilities and multiple-intelligence explained: Mythology lends itself to legends, folklore, and tradition and perhaps to the greatest myths of all. The myths saddle us up, preparing researchers, philosophers and anyone with peeked interest to explore the potential facts. The facts often string us along as it follows a series of beliefs. One of the common misconceptions that string us along includes the notion that all of us are predetermined and works on the same level of learning. Down through the centuries, educators would teach children that basic intelligence was proportioned and truly permanent. Myths from of old that carry on today state that if a child is born with learning disabilities, then surely the child cannot learn above the ability that normal children could learn. If we continue to let these myths hinder our abilities to learn regardless of notions, we would live in a world filled with failing souls. Th
Financial freedom discoveries about savings indicate that people lose interest because their goals are not exciting. Financial freedom may continue to elude may people, despite their efforts, because they are bored with the possibilities of saving and the goal does not titillate them.

Science is nothing other than discovery and understanding things. To some it’s a study to others an adventure. One of the earliest of sciences it fails to loose its place as the number one in research and development. Every year great minds mull over the year that has been and list what the top 10 or 20 science discoveries for the year are.
In 2006 leaders among science discoveries were:
1. A chance to know mankind’s primordial past by the study of comet particles brought back to earth by NASA’s spaceship Stardust. The comet particles are said to contain gases and dust from the formation of the solar system 4.6 billion years ago. Around 150 scientists all over the world are involved in the study of and discovery from the comet remains.
2. Paleontologists have found in Nunavut in Canada a 375 million year old fossil that bridges the gap between land and aquatic creatures. Names Tiktaalik roseae or fishapod the fossil may well solve many mysteries of evolution.

I am by nature a curious cat. Thus, I am always discovering new things. Here's some of my past week's discoveries which I think are fabulous, or at the very least, interesting.1. YotelAt last-- two affordable, luxury hotels will open in Spring, 2007 at Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. They are billed as "the world's most radical hotel." I like the idea of booking a room for a long, layover right at the airports! I hope this concept hotel works, and the idea spreads to many airports.2. Last.fm I have previously tried Pandora, and now I have downloaded this one which is somewhat similar. I am busy test-driving it now.3. Sonific This program allows you to choose music to download on your blogs, so I'm trying it out on one of my blogs: Moonlight Becomes Me. Having asked the opinion of various friends about the choice of song and whether they like music to begin downloading on a website, I have received mixed reviews thus far. I was hoping to achieve a mystical vibe by adding the music.
