This is more difficult than digging for worms in the flower beds but is more rewarding as it drives the gardener berserk! The technique I use is to dig my beak into the lawn then thrust forward and up at the same time. This flings great clods of earth and turf up into the air causing unsightly scars in the once pristine lawn. I then have approximately four seconds toeat whatever I've uncovered before the gardener races from the house screaming abuse at me. Once he's returned inside the process starts all over again. Plenty of bread on the bird-table this morning, there goes the diet! Usual bun fight (pardon the pun) to get at it though. We all wait in the trees that are around the bird-table until she b

No, digging to find something in the piles of cards, letters and notes I still have from when Lou died, now 18 months ago. I found what I was looking for, but I also found so much more. I realized it is impossible to fully read and absorb the notes of sympathy that are sent after the death of a loved one. It is too hard to. And, it was too hard for quite some time, for me, anyway. The words are meant to comfort, but they are oh so hard to read, at the time. So painful. Today, I went through every card and note in that basket. Many, I did not remember having read before. I'm mature enough to handle knowing I only want one to help me raise my credit score in case I want a house or need a small loan in the future for a car, etc. Thanks for any help. The Answer : To take it another step, secured credit cards are a PERFECT way to rebuild your credit, especially if you're able to come into a significant sum of money because the major difference between regular and secured cards is that you have to put a deposit that's used as collateral to establish a credit line in the same amount. @You can also control the credit line by increasing it when you add to the deposit. Digging For The Truth About Real Estate Search Portals
The truth is worth digging for, even if the ground is hard and your shovel is dull. Late last night I put up a post entitled, “Craigslist Delivers Viewers In Large Numbers.” It was based on server data that I collected over a week ago and I had been staring at ever since. The numbers indicated more incoming links from Craigslist than Realtor.com and Trulia and other Web 2.0 search portals. The numbers were so cartoonishly disproportionate that they left me scratching my head and asking a lot of questions. So I decided to put the numbers up and ask the questions in public. The answers, in part, were staring me right in the face and I was just too close to the data to see them. Jeff Weir, from Tour The Triad, pointed out what is now obvious about the numbers. The way Craiglsist displays information automatically generates a referring link, because all of the information is being pulled from our servers. This is not true of Realtor.com or Trulia. The 104th Carnival of Debt Reduction - Digging Out Edition Getting out of debt requires intense personal action on our part. Sometimes we like to try and dig our way out of debt by using a small shovel, but the best results will come when we make drastic life changing actions. Instead of a shovel, use a back hoe or a bulldozer! Be willing to make major changes, and bury that debt. My editor’s pick is an example of a bulldozer decision, freezing your credit cards! What I've Been Digging: August Edition
Akira Yoshimura - On Parole: Sadly, this is only one of his twenty books that have been translated into english. Though he focuses on Japan and Japanese culture you can still find yourself understanding and knowing the characters in his books. They are so real and vivid I found myself thinking I knew the guy in real life. This was my second time reading the book and I still found myself going nuts over the end.Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars: The experience is better live, but their mix of reggae and African music styles is up beat and positive without being overly sentimental. Whenever they sing about heavier issues they do it without any sense of feeling sorry for themselves. Even though they did form in a war torn country.Sagami: I only go there once a year for my birthday, and it never disappoints. The sushi chef's are top quality unlike a lot of the junk you get in the supermarket. They know what they are doing and know how to make a great presentation. I recommend w

How to Stop Your Dog Digging
In this article I hope to help you learn how to stop your dog digging. Or at least to stop him digging where you do not want him to! Like your rose garden or in the middle of the lawn. First things first, you need to find out why he is digging. The major problem here is probably boredom. Most dogs either dig because they are bored or trying to escape. As always you should set aside some time each day to play with your dog and take him for a walk. You would be pretty bored too if you spent all day locked up in the same yard day in day out.If you can, set aside a place where your dog is allowed to have a dig. A disused sandbox would be ideal or even make him a sandbox of his own. You can train him by burying his favorite ball or toy just below the surface and then letting him dig it up. Praise him for digging in his special place. If you come home from work and find a hole there is no point yelling at your dog, he will have no idea what he is in trouble for since he probably dug the hole h

Take a look at this: FTTH made cheap & easy. Kabel-X touts 'Copper to Fibre without excavation'. Taking excavation (or really: replacing it with some other labour) out of the equation will "save your business up to 200,000 euros per kilometre compared to conventional digging". Besides, the copper can be sold at 20-30 $/meter and will no longer attract individuals with unhealthy intentions.

      Digging the Social Media Grave?
There is a shed load of people nowadays trying to reap benefits from online social media by performing the so called social marketing which basically involves promoting content through sites like Digg. Digg has now over a million of users reading, submitting and commenting on stories. Though the percentage of submitted stories is a smaller figure compared to the dugg and commented stories it is still a big number of stories to go through. You have to find the most unique, intriguing and exclusive ( why not shocking ) story and submit it at the right time filed under the right category. Otherwise you might be submitting stories that will never get noticed though they seem interesting to you. This mechanism and the expansion of the social media sites and Digg in particular has made a lot of people want to cheat or game the system so that they take their piece of the traffic cake. It has always been bothering me how the same users make it to the front page every single day. Some say they

UNITED STATES: Digging deep for new oil
Devon Energy Corp. is making a $100 million bet on a potential oil bounty this week, drilling an exploration well 33,000 feet below the seabed in some of the Gulf of Mexico's deepest waters. That's a lot to lose when the chance of success hovers around 30 percent, said Tony Vaughn, vice president and general manager of the Oklahoma City-based company's Gulf division. But potential from discoveries near Devon's Chuck field about 240 miles southwest of New Orleans, most notably Chevron Corp.'s Jack field, makes it worthwhile. "We still think there's about a 65 percent chance of this being a dry hole or a failure, but you're still willing to take quite a bit of risk when you're a step away from other wells that have been successful," Vaughn said.Devon Energy wagers $100 million on repeating Chevron's success drilling in the rockbed miles beneath Gulf waters Sharing the risk with Devon are its minority partners, ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil. Last year, Chevron illustrated the po

Tony Romo to judge the Miss Universe Pageant. Talk about digging out of a hole
Remember the guy, the guy who fumble the can’t miss field goal that would have propelled the Dallas Cowboys to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in years.  We let me remind you: Well, looks like he is slowly crawling out of the hole of obscurity.  First they took his butterfingers off of the holding duties.  Then we get news that he’s dating Carrie Underwood(She’s pretty hot).  And now we hear that he’s been invited to be a judge of the Miss Universe contest. If that’s not helping to pad the wounds of last season, I don’t know will. But Tony, you’re banging a hot chick and I am sure that you will be tapping a little ass at the contest too.  But I gotta do it to ya.  The video of you taking the hearts of cowboy fans young and old and dumping it in a sand filled box. Oh yes, Tony Romo Loses It. Oh so sad, so cold.  *Grins  Share This

If you are a great web 2.0 generation fan and have a great liking for web 2.0 social bookmarking services such as Digg Del.icio.us Technorati etc then you must also be a fan of various tools that enhance your social bookmarking experience. Digg users would certainly be aware that Digg recently announced the development of the Digg API which is now publicly available at Digg Services. The API will help developers interact with Digg in a web environment. Alex Bosworth, a loyal and innovative Digg user and developer has created this little tool online using the Digg API which tells you about who are you digging and who else has been digging you? The online Digg Whois Tool can be accessed here. All you have to enter is the username of a Digg user and it will tell you the Digg submissions of that user along with the users that have been Digging the submissions of that user. Indeed a very great online tool and as far as I can assume the first script ever to use the Digg API since its launc

A man began to sink a well, but having dug he could not find the least trace of water, so he selected another place. There he dug deeper, but even then he could not find any water. So again he selected another spot and dug, but it was also of no avail. At last in utter disgust he gave up the task altogether. Without shifting the site from place to place, he would surely have been successful.

Maybe it is because I'm tired, or maybe (and more probably) it is a testament to its greatness, but I am having a hard time pinpointing exactly what it is about Ice Station that makes it so great. Ice Station is the latest from a Chicago band called The Race. The band is vocalist/guitarist Craig Klein who (on Ice Station) had help from Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, Kevin Duneman (who has played with L'altra, Telefon Tel Aviv, Early Day Miners, and Ativin), and others. Ice Station is (loosely) a musical journey from Odessa to China and back again. It is a primitive futuristic Siberia with melodies that will stick in your head for days. Its a place that is populated by both buzzing guitars and vintage drum machines. A world whose inhabitants have (for centuries) sung songs of love and longing. Sounding like a combination of The Firebird Band, Joy Division, and The Arcade Fire, Ice Station will appeal to anyone and everyone that likes music. It will be released May 15th on the awes

Digging The Archives: XFiles Spin-Off Writers Saw 911 Before The Rest of Us?
If Rosie O'Donnell would zip it and instead use her ill-gotten soap box to ask questions that are not based on idiotic, paranoid delusions and stupid rants about a conspiracy for everything under the sun, she might want to watch this clip, if she hasn't seen it already. This might be old news to some, but fellow bloggers have been buzzing again about this clip that is six years old. Probably like many of you, I was unaware of this particular precursor to 9/11 that appears to predict the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Centers on Sept. 11, 2001.The Lone Gunman, a X-Files spin-off TV series, aired a pilot show on FOX on March 4, 2001. The theme of the pilot was based on a story of 747's being hijacked to be used as flying bombs to attack the World Trade Center, eerily similar to the attacks that took place six months later. This video is a clip from the pilot itself.WARNING: Anyone affected by what happened on that day may not want to watch this not because it contains inappropriate ma

      Tag! 7 Songs I'm Digging
Just 7? Come on Whiskey, why only seven? Where's the fun in that? Considering all the music I listen to in a given day I am not sure I can pick just 7 for just right now. Sigh, ok, I'll try my best. The Pogues - If I Should Fall From Grace With God - Seriously, is there any real suprise why I'd pick this song? I'd been playing Pogues music all the time the past few weeks and usually this one'd be on the top of the list. Though it sounds negative, I think there is a deeper metaphor than God and me falling from grace. Considering the brilliant poetic mind of Shane Macgowan I don't think I'll ever truly get it.Christ Tomlin - Amazing Love - Probably one of my favorite praise and worship songs. It was Chris Tomlin wasn't it? It's hard to tell sometimes since a bunch of these guys sound alike. Anyway, one of the most moving and original worship songs out there. The Hooligans - Black Thorn Stick Set - One of my other favorite bands. They put on a great show and this is one

      Digging Up The Past
Most people that I know do not know how my mother died.A lot of people that I know do not even know that my parents are dead.Whenever anyone asks, I usually just kind of skirt the question, or say something about how we don't get along.I don't really know why this is. I guess it is because I don't want their pity, or to hear the ever present "I'm so sorry." I don't want to see the look they would give me if I told them that my father died of a heart attack when I was seven, and that my mother killed herself when I was sixteen. She had left me and my little sister at home one day to go to work, and never came home that night. Or the next. Or the next. Apparently, she was done with us, and decided to stay at a boyfriend's house in the town that she worked at, rather than come home to her kids. Two months went by. I heard from her once, when she called to say she was coming by to pick something up. (I was living with my grandmother by now, and my little sister was living with my aunt

Still digging for answers to 9/11? PART II
CBS is reporting that a third of American people feel that the government was behind 9/11. The past few weeks there have been mumblings of conspiracy, but is the thought gaining ground? Seems so. Just a few days ago, here is what CBS had to say: According to a July poll conducted by Scripps News Service, one-third of Americans think the government either carried out the 9/11 attacks or intentionally allowed them to happen in order to provide a pretext for war in the Middle East. The Internet has had a monumental impact spiking the interest in the truth of 9/11. The article goes on to describe the stirrings that started it: The Truth Movement's recent growth can be largely attributed to the Internet-distributed documentary "Loose Change." A low-budget film produced by two 20-somethings that purports to debunk the official story of 9/11, it's been viewed over the Internet millions of times. The recent interest in the topic has peaked in the past few weeks as blogger on all sides ha

Digg this: Still digging for answers to 9/11?
Nothing in my life shocked me to my core as much as the morning of September 11, 2001. NYC's twin towers crashing down broke the hearts of a nation. And nothing wells up as much emotion and heartbreak as that day America wept... except when I hear mumblings suspecting fowl play. The humdrum of conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 has died down, or so I thought. When I hear people or blogger (well, they are people too) talk of 9/11 as a conspiracy, as one big sheet pulled over everybody's eyes, I shudder. Can this be so? Who could have done it? President Bush? The media? Most people keenly believe that since Nixon went down for his woolly conspiracy, it must be impossible to pull of another. Should we live in such confidence? Since the days of Lyndon Johnson and Lady Bird we have known that war makes money and stimulates the economy. The government and the media are supposed to keep each other in check. It sends chills straight through my body to think of them teaming up and spinning
