It is lamentable to see the current state of decadence of the educational systems, not only of the United States, but of most nations in the world. No longer are students encouraged to discover the sincere satisfaction that knowledge brings, nor the enthusiasm that comprehension provides, but are instead subjected to innumerable educational atrocities such as “standardized tests” that seek to
In times of change and adversity, we are all challenged to make choices and to make decisions. You may not be responsible for the circumstances or changes, like the breakdown of our financial system, but you are responsible for the decisions you make within those circumstances.
During his inaugural speech in January of 1961 John Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask w
You’ve probably already heard about the bad property news from Spain. Unfortunately, most of them seems to be factual and backed-up by reliable data, and most of the good news is just promotional materials.
However, the things are not as bad as they seems. The truth is that the Spanish property market is not dead, it [...]

I just read an interesting perspective on the currently most asked question of 2008. So, Is now a good time to buy? We have written many different posts stating why it’s an excellent time to buy in the Bay Area. The main reason is that we are seeing negotiating opportunities for our buyer clients while [...]
I took this picture a couple of months ago now but I am quite impressed with myself because I think that this is the first arty photograph I have taken. Amy and Lilly were playing near the wall and the sun was just coming through the window. They started to play with the shadows ( and fight a bit about who could get nearer) and I managed to run upstairs, grab my camera and take the shot. This is amazing really because usually as soon as they see me taking a picture, they start to walk towards me wanting to touch the camera.Anyway, I like the picture. I have entered it into a competition for a laugh at The Twinkies blog.
There are things you're supposed to do. You're supposed to look at the art when you're in an art museum. You're supposed to look at the animals when you're in the zoo. You're supposed to look at the merchandise in a store. You're supposed to look where everyone else is looking.Because there can't possibly be anything else interesting going on. Could there?

A boat docked in a tiny Mexican village. An American tourist
complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked
how long it took him to catch them. "Not very long," answered the
Mexican. "But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?"
asked the American.
The Mexican explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his
needs and those of his family.
The American then asked, "What do you do with the rest of your time?"
"I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta
with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends,
play the guitar, and sing a few songs . . . I have a full life."
The American interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard, and I can help

MENTAL STATUS: "Foggy". Went to bed early--I don't know what time but I'm sure it was before ten. I should be well rested, but I had a dream I was shopping in New York City and had my purse stolen. So a good part of my sleep was very stressful as I went through the nightmare (no pun intended) of trying to cancel all my credit cards and such. (I hate it when my mind double crosses my body like that)I had offered my time and eyeball services to judge a writing contest recently. It was the first time I had ever judged a writing contest--or ANY contest, for that matter--but I found the experience enlightening.I wanted to do an extra good job with them, so I tried to devote at least two days for each entry--one day for just reading through the partial and synopsis and the other day for looking over the score sheet and making comments. Judging was extremely difficult since almost every entry I read was fantastic. In fact, one was SO good and SO funny, I was actually excited for the author
In March of 2007, I posted my views concerning the war. I have always been of the opinion that deposing Saddam Hussein was in every nation's best interest. However, the Bush Administration made a terrible blunder.By not pursuing Al-Qaida into Pakistan, the Taliban and Al-Qaida have been allowed to regroup and re-organize. Saddam Hussein could have waited for a more convenient time of our choosing (See "The Iraqi Blunder"). Recently, I discovered an article concerning America's war against "Radical Islam" in Iraq. The writer of this article views our involvement in Iraq from an entirely different perspective. I have included the article in this post in its entirety.America’s Iraq War: Lost Before It Began Four years have passed since the United States-led invasion of Iraq began—a war America lost before the first shot was fired. The U.S. and Britain, with operational support from approximately 40 other nations, invaded Iraq and forced Saddam Hussein and his regime into hid
If you are from Iowa, then I know you've heard of the Solon girl, Ashley Truitt, who was on vacation with her family in Florida, gave birth to her baby and then threw it down a trash chute, right? Solon is only about 10 minutes from where I live and...
While trolling Google to find if anything has said anything about me recently (hey, I’m a writer, it’s something we do), I found an interesting blog post that directly referenced Toy Bender. The post was titled “Why I Hate Toy Collectors and Toy Traffickers” so I had to bear down before I read it, because a name like that makes me think I might be going through the wringer like in high school gym class. Yep, believe it or not I wasn’t a big jock back in the old high school days! I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it wasn’t an all out attack on me or toy collectors in general. Instead, it was a well put together reason for why this person doesn’t like us. By the way, I have no idea who wrote this as there aren’t any bylines associated with any of the posts on the site.
From the site:
He recently posted an article called “Toy Collecting is for Losers: Defending Toy Collecting.” The article is about how toy collectors are not a

No I am not ordained by any church organization but do have an opinion from my own experiences which have not been ordinary or trivial. The great thing about having your own site is that it can be used to be truthful about issues and if readers cannot respectfully disagree they are free to change the channel. I once was a big fan of Bill O'Reilly. When I learned what he truly stood for I lost respect and interest and I don't watch his show anymore because i don't see it as representing reality for most people. I won't say anything bad about him but I believe him to be too biased to be objective about serious issues. To the far right is Rush Limbaugh who is mostly a cultish figure almost to comedic proportions bordering on fanaticism. He caters to people who need something to believe in to feel better about themselves. You won't ever here me bash him but neither will I bother listening to what he has to say. He has a purpose
Taken from the Edleston Road bridge, just over from the Duke of Bridgewater pub. It's a strange angle, as it cuts out Oak Street that runs in from of the 1960s offices in the foreground. The colourful signage is of the controversial Manhattan lap dancing and pole dancing club on High Street, with Steam nightclub visible to the right. That has seen many clubs come and go with various name changes over the years (anyone know what it used to be, as it also has old lettering on one side that describes it as a restaurant). In the background is the unmistakable Christ Church (check out the new church page on Images of Crewe), visible from most parts of Crewe...
