Sternberg's Diagnostic Surgical Pathology Review by Pier Luigi DiPatre and Darryl Carter is a wonderful review of surgical pathology. The questions are extremely high quality. It is obvious much time was spent in their construction. The answer explanations are lucid, complete, and consise. You really do not need to own Sternberg's in order to benefit from this book. It is also a great companion to Rosai, the WHO books, or AFIP fascicles.These days, it is really impossible to know everything in pathology which can be very frustrating. With this book, however, it has actually been entertaining to study for the surgical pathololgy portion of the boards. If you are a pathology resident, it is highly recommended getting this book.This multiple-choice question-and-answer review book is an excellent study aid for candidates preparing for board certification. A new chemical compound which could remove the need for patients to undergo certain invasive diagnostic tests in the future has been created by scientists at Durham University.Research published in the academic journal, Chemical Communications, reveals that this new compound could be used in a 'chemically-sensitive MRI scan' to help identify the extent of progression of diseases such as cancer, without the need for intrusive biopsies.The researchers, who are part of an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded group developing new ways of imaging cancer, have created a chemical which contains fluorine. It could, in theory, be given to the patient by injection before an MRI scan.
