Jim and I made plans to go to Conway yesterday and do a bit of shopping, however the day was so beautiful, we decided to work around the house instead. We headed off first to Lowe's as I needed some shelving for the closet in the sewing room, and picked up various tomatoes, peppers and zucchini, the essentials of summer eating, and tons of potting soil. When we got back to the house, Jim scrubbed down the kennel outside (did I mention the former owner was a police officer with a drug dog, so there is a nice outdoor kennel in the backyard?) then proceeded to give the dogs a bath out there, while I mopped the floors inside and washed their beds.Jim potted all the new plants, and then we burned all the boxes we had in the garage from moving. Jim also installed some recessed lighting under

Just a friendly reminder that you should change all your batteries in the smoke detectors twice a year. Since today is the first day of Daylight Savings Time then it's a good time to change those batteries. Even if you have electric interconnected smoke detectors you still need to replace the back-up batteries. I'm glad to see Daylight Savings Time since it should mean spring is getting closer. After the winter we've had here in New Hampshire the warmer weather will be a very welcome sight!
Get off your duff and check your smoke detectors. If they are part of an overall alarm system, take the time to alert your alarm company and test them. Death overall kind of sucks but death by fire strikes me as too gruesome to even think about. So to avoid being a statistic check your smoke detectors. If you need new ones Consumer Search rates the First Alert Ultimate Series Battery-Powered Smoke
Radar detectors were first introduced in the 1970s as a way for speedy drivers to avoid tickets by outmaneuvering police officers armed with radar guns. The premise is simple: the radar detector senses the radar gun’s signal and provides a beeping warning for the driver to slow down. Of course, police equipment has become more [...]
Photosensors or photodetectors are sensors of light or other electromagnetic energy. There are several varieties:
Most optical detectors are quantum devices in which an individual photon produces a discrete effect.
* Chemical detectors, such as photographic plates, in which a silver halide molecule is split into an atom of metallic silver and a halogen atom. The photographic [...]
There's a party in my blog! So yummy! So yummy! (That's right, I am insistent that Yo Gabba Gabba! is a rockin' show for the drunk toddler in you. Do you still dare to defy me on this?)
Happy 100th post to me! Or 101st post, but whatever. Blogging Rules state that I am now obliged to post 100 things about me that you didn't know, didn't want to know, could care less about, and will probably skip with the hope that I'll stop posting about Bill Maher, boobs, and get back to regular posting soon. Well, first of all, don't tell me what to do, and second of all, I'm not posting tomorrow, either. Nope, it's the first day of my Saturday Squatters and I've got one of my favorite bloggers lined up, so you and Bill Maher can both suck it. ;)
Do you like how I make it to 100 posts and start talking serious smack to my loyal readers? And then my loyal readers mutter, "Start talking smack? She's got to be kidding.&q

1.)Photographic Platei.)The detection of X-rays is based on various methods. The most commonly known method are a photographic plate, X-ray film in a cassette, and rare earth screens.ii.)A photographic plate or film is used in hospitals to produce images of the internal organs and bones of a patient. Since photographic plates are not generally sensitive to X-rays, phosphorescent screens are usually placed in contact with the emulsion of the plate or film. The X-rays strike the phosphor screen, which emits visible light, which exposes the film. The emulsion still needs to be heavily doped with silver compounds and can be coated on both sides of the film or plate.iii.)The part of the patient to be X-rayed is placed between the X-ray source and the photographic receptor to produce what is a shadow of all the internal structure of that particular part of the body being X-rayed. The X-rays are blocked by dense tissues such as bone and pass through soft tissues. Those areas where the X-rays
I recalled visiting a shopping mall in Australia many years ago and had an interesting experience of having to walk through metal detectors as there had been several bomb threats and other terrorists scares at that time. Though I expect to see those metal detectors which are likened to X-ray and Gamma-ray screening in night entertainment places, schools, government agencies or embassies, or airports, I believe they were necessary to control certain safety situations. Rapiscan Systems were the people who designed, manufactured these walk-throughs and hand held metal detectors you noticed from time to time and it looked this was a specialized industry. Usually, I wouldn’t bother about things like these but it was just one of rare occasions.

How many times have we heard it said, "Oh, Lord, give me a sign!" Alas, too often the reply is vague and ambiguous: the phone rings at an opportune time, a feather falls from out of the blue, a water stain appears that resembles a religious image. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping. Maybe it's a mother thing but I often have nights where I can't get to sleep or when once asleep I'll wake up in the middle of the night, my mind racing with important stuff like, "I forgot to put muffin wrappers on the shopping list. I need muffin wrappers. If I forget to pick them up on Thursday I'm dead. DO NOT FORGET MUFFIN WRAPPERS."I've even devised a sophisticated memory tool to help me remember those midnight panics. I throw one of my bedside books on the floor accompanied by the thought "If I throw this on the floor I'll step on it in the morning and it will remind me to remember to call the insurance company." Forget a simple thing like writing it down on the handy pad of paper I keep at my beside table because if I make all the noise necessary to get the paper and pen out of the drawer and then write the item down it will wake Andrew. And it usually works. The next morning I step on the book and *bang* on go the memory lights and
