Hi. Here I am, being depressing again.
Almost seven weeks since it started; we’re still stuck. Would now be twelve weeks. We are still not sure when we’ll want to try again. Sooner or later? Some days, I think, “NO.” Other days, I think, “maybe?” It is confusing. Afraid to chance it. What if it happens again? So soon, I might break. Then again, it seems no matter the length between, the pain won̵

Well holy moly, what do we have here? That’s right folks, I grew bored with that bland layout we had before (TOO MUCH GREY!) and decided to slap together something new that used more than two primary colors. Of course, I might have gone a little overboard with strong colors, but for now this [...]

The most depressing day of the year
I was sat in front the TV on Monday this week, eating my cereal whilst getting my dose of BBC Breakfast news as normal, when low and behold the news reader announced that Monday 21 January 2008 was officially the most depressing day of the year.Mondays are probably quite challenging for most of us as we drag ourselves out of bed to begin the new working week, couple that with some financial upheaval this week and severe flooding, all on Monday, and I can see where they are coming from. However, this “most depressing day of the year” is not a new claim.A couple of years ago, a scientist at Cardiff University, Cliff Arnall, developed a formula for calculating the most depressing day of the year. His formula expresses the relationship between poor weather, post-Christmas debt, time passed

      Do Vitammins Have Anti-depressing Effect?
Any emotionally-nervous stress exceeds the consumption of vitamins, and their deficit increases the impact of stress on the body, and first of all we need to fill the Group B vitamins supply, which play an important role in the nervous system, as well as antioxidant-vitamins (C, E , beta). But, if the body gets the necessary dose of vitamins, do not expect additional effects by increasing the dose.A very important factor in the fight against stress manifestations is your diet.Avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs, which can cause bad mood. It is not a secret that an ideally balanced diet can be achieved only with the use of biologically active food additives. Active components of food additives (vitamin supplements) correct diet in a way that, first: activate the body's own anti-stress mechanisms; secondly: implement elements with properties to suppress the stress effects.Remember: Taking vitamins does not mean it will help to handle stress. Its cause can be in many other issues - so find

      Less Depressing News
Sure I could talk about Sean Taylor but I think there are much better sites covering the whole situation and frankly I'm too divided on the whole subject to be much help. On the one hand a guy who has seemingly turned it around is someone you want to root for. On the other hand a guy who has a huge track record of being an asshole even though he's turned the corner always has that reputation and that history following him around. The reports that I have read are so confusing that it reminds me a lot like the news coming out of the Chris Benoit situation (although hopefully not as dire) in that it's obvious that nobody knows what they're talking about so why put much stake in the story. I hope that Sean Taylor is alright because I would never wish for anyone to be killed when they seemingly have started to get their life in order but that's all I'm going to say about that subject. The other major news story floating around these interwebs this afternoon is the divorce of Linda and

Movie Review: Enchanted- Delightful and depressing
There's no other word to describe Enchanted but "delightful" for the first 80 minutes of the movie and then you can switch to "demoralizing" or "depressing." In Enchanted, Princess-to-be Giselle (Amy Adams) shares a cottage in sub-suburban Andalasia with various woodland creatures including Pip, a spunky and helpful chipmunk. Giselle dreams of princes and Love and her enthusiasm for these two desires manifest themselves into a homemade prince mannequin, the construction of which makes for a lovely animal collaboration scene. One day, as she sings with her animal friends and the prince is out hunting trolls, they overhear each other and instantly fall in love. The wicked witch Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) doesn't approve of her stepson's romance, however, as it would mean the loss of her crown, and, in an allusion to Snow White, disguises herself as a witch to fool the innocent Giselle into falling down a well and thus away from the story book kingdom. Giselle then finds he

Take tax losses by November in order to aviod the depressing impact of tax-selling in December.
A substantial body of research has been devoted to what has come to be known a the January effect. According to these studies, stocks that had been depressed at year-end tend to rebound in January. Stocks whose prices are depressed in December may be beaten down by tax-selling. Investors often seek to reduce their tax liability by realizing losses before the calendar year ends. Indeed, they may be selling their losers to such an extent that the selling pressure pushes the relevant (already depressed) stock prices down even more. After the year ends, the selling pressure abates and the stocks that had been depressed by tax-selling may rebound somewhat. Harvesting tax losses is often advantageous. An investment that is not working out as planned can at least be sold to realize a capital loss and thereby offset the tax liabilities on more successful transactions. If the stock is never destined to recover, the tax shelter provided by the tax loss is the only thing that is left to be sa

      Depressing...
Gosh, it's only a couple of months and my confidence and everything is COMPLETELY GONE! I was told I have average creativity only. AVERAGE! Do you know what average means? It means I'm a incompetent designer. Average is like I can't design anything that people would go "wow". The "best" reaction I'd hope to receive for my designs would be, "ok lah". That is a complete insult to a designer. Furthermore, I'm not a "fresh" designer. This has been my freelance job for 9 years. Sigh. 9 years! Pathetic. My Creative Director dreams is completely dashed. A person with just "average" creativity can NEVER be a Creative Director. /me kicks and screams... NOOOooo...!!! I had the right? Since when did I have the right? Please enlighten me? I never had the right/authority to do anything. That is basically why I don't do anything in the first place. Everytime I try to suggest something you make me feel as though I'm talking rubbish. Duh. Advertisement: Continue reading...

The romantic, funny, and depressing ways people are finding Romance Tracker
Romance Tracker’s regular visitors and RSS subscribers are increasing every day, but as a newer blog most of our traffic is currently coming from people who type in romance search terms in engines like Google and find us among the listings. I try to scan through at least some of the hundreds of search terms that visitors use to find Romance Tracker each day and wanted to share a few of the more amusing . . . and depressing! . . . from the list. A few of the search terms that people have typed in to find this site are downright funny. It’s amusing to know that Romance Tracker ranks on the first page of Google for people searching for information on “being clingy,” “apathetic relationships,” and “how to stop being obsessive after a break up.” But I can’t say that I ever expected this blog to rank high for unenviable phrases like “avoiding boyfriend,” “things to do when your boyfriend’s gone” and&nda

A splash of colour on a very dull and depressing day...
And it was, a very dull day. The snap below sums it up, with a mist hanging over the town from early morning. There was even some dense smoke around lunchtime, somewhere near to the Heritage Centre. Maybe a fire, perhaps just starting up one of the old locos ahead of the Easter reopening? I just hope that nobody was hurt if it was a fire. Elsewhere the railway is in the news for the wrong reasons. The front page of today's Sentinel announces that vandals will be tracked down as the region gets set for the holiday surge in damage and trespass. Apparently, the school holidays account for the worse spells and Crewe is one of ten trouble spots set to be monitored in the North West. Indeed, a friend of mine who lives close to the rail footbridge off Parkers Road (where the Crewe and Nantwich Circular Walk passes) often has to call the police because of kids throwing stuff at trains! So, to cheer you up, an image of Bromiley's fancy dress shop window on Edleston Road where they seem to hav

      Depressing Weather And Random Thoughts
Not much to post today. The weather sort of got me all bummed out especially when I woke up and saw this on my backyard: I am hoping to have better weather next week because I think the kids are getting tired of looking at my face all day. Cameron's only solace was to look at videos of him and his sister on tv, while Ava continues to chew on several of their children's books. Shana asked me once last year (before having Ava) if Cameron liked eating his books. I said, no, he was never into it . Little did I know that Ava would be the one to enjoy turning the book corners into pulp. These are just some of the books she got her hands on: I'm afraid she might have even swallowed a duck or two from this book. Although I haven't seen it pass through her system so I guess that's a good thing. (Sigh...) The joys of motherhood...

It's Fall. (And this is depressing).
It’s Fall alright…the air is cooler, the sky is darker, and town fairs/festivals are in full-gear. This time of year brings back a lot of memories of my past. I remember listening to David Crowder’s new cd a year ago…I still find it hard to put down at times. I remember my good buddy Jason winning Third Day tickets a year ago and taking me with him to see the show. What a great show that was in Jax. I remember college beginning to have it’s exams this time of year and realizing that I’m really growing up and I only live once. I remember traveling a year ago a lot and feeling alone at times. I love Fall, I love the cooler air, yet something about it is dark to me. That may sound odd, but it’s just how I feel. A close friend of mine lost her father this time of year about 5-6 years ago. It’s something I’ll never forget - I was 19. It was devastating to her, her family, the community, as well as me - recently the community I live in ha

An Interesting but profoundly depressing comment
Blogger user Ish left the following comment against one of the entries on my 'poetry' blog:If there is "no one home in the universe" (we are castaways on planet earthwithout a God to love and communicate with) then Buddhism is a reasonablepalliative care alternative to ease the pain of that. But Buddhism also comes asa religion with several versions, each with their own set of hoops to jumpthrough.Quite why he left it there is an interesting mystery in itself - he clearly read far more into the poem than I wrote. I guess that is why poetry can be so personally interesting. It can be a verbal Roschach allowing the reader to project all sorts of inner turmoil onto an all embracing vacuity. How sad, how utterly deeply depressing that he dismisses humans and all other forms of sentient life so lightly - that is you and me who are tossed aside as 'no one home'. Actually it seems his knowledge of Buddhism is clearly insufficient or distorted by the tight corset of the rather shallow '

This Life + 10 - excellent and so depressing
Back at the beginning of December I was distinctly wary of the 'This Life + 10' reunion. Of course that caution was based on the American idea of what a Christmas TV special is like. What they came up with was televisually brilliant, but I also found it profoundly depressing.Amita Dhiri looked a little older but still absolutely stunning. Unsurprisingly the rest of the cast also looked less fresh faced (except for the new-comers, the fly-on-the wall video documentary maker and the predatory trophy wife). What was depressing though was not the aging - natural and to be expected - but how the characters were still essentially stuck in the tar-pit of the life scripts which they had inhabited ten years previously. The program ends on the appearance of them all having breakthroughs, but I was not convinced. Since the original program had a continuing thread of the therapist/confessor - very 1990s - that the reunion was supposed to act as a kind of 'closure' to the previous chapter
