It's also a popular location for weddings and film/tv shoots, and weekend painters. Walking the grounds transports you to Spain and Italy. It's an amazing atmosphere to paint on site.
La Noria is a par-33 golf course situated about 300 metres north of the resort of La Cala de Mijas. There is a good mix of holes, with some requiring distance and others providing an excellent test of a player's technical ability. A river and several lakes come into play on several holes. There is also a driving range in addition to the nine-hole course.
Noteworthy holes include the 2nd (par 4), which has an extreme left dogleg and a green guarded by a lake on the left and a river to the front. Behind the green is a pretty waterfall. The 4th (par 4) is tricky, with a large lake between the tee and the wide fairway. Another testing hole is the 7th (par 5), on which the green is surrounded by bunkers. The 8th is a very interesting hole, with the fairway replaced by a large lake. Thanfully though it is very short. La Noria has a maximum handicap of 28 for men and 36 for women.
