Knut, that adorable little polar bear cub who's being raised by hand at the Berlin Zoo, is getting a run for his money in the "cute hand-reared wild animals" stakes. Flocke, at the Nuremberg Zoo, is also being hand raised (after her Mom decided she was possibly a good chew toy) and has just opened her eyes. Her crossed-eyes, that is, which apparently makes her even cuter. The zoo is having daily press meetings to keep the public updated on her progress. Now if only people's interest in these adorable cubs would translate into a bit of mature action either on behalf of the species or at least with regard to how to behave in a zoo.
