Making beef stew in a slow cooker is a long journey. I managed to take a few snapshots last night after filling up the pot with the many ingredients. I think I went a little overboard with the ingredients and the pot was filled to the top. I also threw in some fresh parsley to add some flavor and awesome aroma.I let the beef stew slow cook overnight, for about 8 hours. When I woke up this morning,

Pressure Cooker and Quicker Preparation of Food
      Q. What does pressure have to do with quicker preparation of food in a pressure cooker?A. Apart from pressure, water and steam also have their roles to play. Ultimately, though, it is the pressure that matters. Here’s what result in quicker cooking. Ordinarily, water boils at 100° Celsius. The temperature rarely rises higher because escaping steam carries excess heat away. If a container of boiling water is sealed, however, the heat is trapped and pressure starts to rise. This force pushes down on the surface of the liquid, preventing water molecules from breaking apart from one another to create steam. Thus, far less heat is dispersed from the container and, eventually, from the food. The result of all this is the temperature of the water greatly exceeds 100° Celsius, cooking the food

Slow Cooker Chili Recipes - The Easiest Way To Spice Up Your Cooking
Slow cooker chili recipes are one of the easiest ways to enjoy the benefits of spicy fresh food cooked using a variety of spices. Many amateur chefs or home cooks are scared by the prospect of cooking spicy food. Such cuisine is often perceived to be the domain of professionals or cooks that have grown up in regions famous for spicy foods such as Asia or south America. This could not be further from the truth.Spices such as chili, turmeric, garam masala, all spice and cumin offer a very simple way for the inexperienced or amateur cook to liven up an otherwise bland dish. Buy Slow Cooker
In food preparation, slow cooker or a crock-pot (also called crock po) is the name of cookware to cook the food slowly. Slow cooker is a counter top electrical home appliance that is used to cook stews and other dishes containing water at relatively low temperatures, with correspondingly long cooking times (several hours). Many recipes simply call for the ingredients to be put in the cooker with little preparation. The slow cooker can then safely be left to run unattended, making it a convenient cooking method. The food is placed inside the pot, immersed in water, the lid applied, and the unit switched on. Cooking times vary with the recipe and with the food quantity, but are typically several hours thats why it's used low temperatures. If you willing to buy this slow cooker, first you can

      a slow-cooker, a microwave and a coffee pot…
…all walk into a bar and the microwave says… *ahem* Oh. Um. That’s a different joke altogether!! ~~~ The title, however, is NOT a joke when that’s the all you have to cook with! And I didn’t even think about the daggone slow-cooker til this morning! The tile. Well, it’s… um…. it’s …. here. That’s about all I can tell you right now. Now wait. There’s a little more than that to it. It’s here and Tommy and I worked til almost 2am (from about 6pm) last Friday night on trying to just get the pattern we want worked out. Remember me telling you he not only doesn’t want to lay it the usual, plain-ol’ straight pattern, not only does he want to lay it in a diamond pattern but not just a regular ol’ diamond pattern. He wants to lay it diamond and bricked! Bricking is when the joints are staggered by half the width of the tile and you know what diamond is. So he’s like doing two patte

I should know, I have succeeded in blowing the lid off or more that one. Some folks should just stay away from pressure. For me the world famous "pressure cooker" is by far the most frustrating pot I have ever used. Not that I never get it right, because I have been known to, but not often. As a matter of fact there are a lot of pressures I don't do will with. But the pressure in a cooker isn't one of them. When I was a little girl I remember my Gramma, Aunts and my Mama using a pressure cooker. Oh, they made the most wonderful foods in them. I can still taste the crispy fried chicken my Gramma made., and the beef stew, ham and beans and soups. Then there was always my favorites like rice pudding, bread pudding and fruit cakes. I always knew when I came home from school and there was a pressure cooker on the stove hissing away, that dinner was going to be fantastic. Lots of our meals were cooked in a 4 o

      Pakistani Pressure-Cooker
Assuming Pakistani police reports are accurate (a big if) that the attack on returning former Pakistani premier Benazir Bhutto's convoy was not a car-bomb but a suicide bomber, it would be the deadliest attack by an individual suicide vest so far. The massive throng that turned out to see Bhutto was a perfect target for a suicide bomber, and there were warning in advance. Bhutto has refrained from blaming the Pakistani government, but she has stated that security was inadequate. As I've noted before...(read more)

Using Your Slow Cooker to Make a Low Fat Meal
The slow cooker or crock pot is one of the greatest inventions known to man. With little or no effort, you can have a hot, delicious and nutritious meal whether you worked all day or were out running errands. With most slow cooker recipes, you cut and chop in the morning and turn on your crock pot to the required setting and let it simmer all day. When you and your family return home after a long and busy day you will have a delicious hot meal waiting for you.A slow cooker can make a low fat meal simply delicious. You begin by spraying low fat spray into the ceramic insert and you are just about ready to make a low fat meal. Adding fresh vegetables and lean cuts of meat cooking for hours can make flavor rich and satisfying, even if it is a low fat meal. The flavor comes from the liquid you add, and you can use tomatoes, broths and wines as your base when you are preparing a low fat meal.If you really want a low fat meal, dont use as much meat and replace with whole grains and beans.

      The thermal cooker rocks!
I spent yesterday doing laundry, cleaning, all that boring stuff that goes by the wayside when Jim’s home. I’m much rather be having fun with him than cleaning! But I put off re-organizing the storage space under the bed, and in the closet. It’s a disaster zone! I also didn’t get my quilt borders cut out. I really was going to work on the storage under the bed, until I opened it and found my large cutting mat had somehow slid UNDER the storage compartment during our last trip, and was all bent out of shape.I did my best to salvage it, but it’s creased beyond repair. I’ll have to see if I can find another in town before I can complete the quilt top.I used the nifty Nissan Thermal cooker again yesterday, I am so impressed with it! While we were in Branson, we had lunch at Cantina Laredo, where they served this fantastic spicy bean soup. I thought I’d try and make something like it. I didn’t come close, but it was delicious anyway. I sa
