Recently I was out walking with my baby girl. When we entered our favorite forest path, she rapidly nodded off to sleep as the carriage softly swayed back and forth. Lucky me, I thought, time for a photo shoot. It was a beautiful day and I had my camera ready with a 100mm macro lens.

At the edge of the forest we reached a field, at which there was a highway on the opposite side. All of a sudden I saw this truck driving by.
The combination of seeing the text on this vehicle and me being outdoors, my environmental conscience was making itself known. I rejoiced at the knowledge that I had a short moment to enjoy all the gifts of nature. I even decided to celebrate that fact - by taking more photos.

The strangest mascot in professional baseball may belong to the Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League. Nobody remembers exactly why he was created seven years ago, but his name is Mr. Trash and he…well….he picks up trash.

A now 22 year-old man from New Jersey has played Mr. Trash since his inception, a Lou Gehrig-like streak when considering the short tenure of most mascots. Over that time he has undoubtedly taught numerous youngsters the importance of waste disposal. Now he just has to find a way to clean up the rest of New Jersey like has cleaned the Rivershark’s stadium.

The main site they reference is dotherightthing.com which from what I can tell has a pretty neat interface. Basically users submit stories (mostly news stories) about organizations making positive or negative changes in the world. One of the stories I found on there is that Whole Food is the first major US company to convert all of its energy to green sources.
I think this will probably be a good resource for those readers who want to stay up on the news of companies doing social good in the world, but it isn’t so much a site to go and find links to wear to buy fair trade undies. Maybe there is still a niche for Fair Consumers (is that a dumb name?).
