Transparent House’s design concept allows for the application of any pattern to a concrete surface, either when pouring or after the concrete has set. Interesting. Retro And Vintage Mid Century Modern Homes In Las Vegas - Pattern #27 In The Series On Decorative Concrete Block Screens
This decorative concrete block is so cute. It’s like an iceing swirl on a birthday cake. It’s a much softer design, with rounded edges, unlike most of the previous ones we’ve studied. I only have pictures from 2 properties, but I’m sure I’ve seen it around more than that.   It’s a strange coincidence that in both of these cases,

      ULTRA-COOL CONCRETE TABLE
Teresa dropped me an email yesterday, pointing me to an ultra-cool line of concrete tables created by artists Parvez Taj and concrete artisan James Dewulf. You may really like this...The duo have combined their talents and unveiled a line of contemporary concrete tables printed with Taj's fresh, hip graphic designs. The project was made possible by the use of ground breaking printing technology that uses UV light to cure eco-friendly inks. The cement table is a sustainable alternative to using natural stones which generally involve large quarries and requires massive amounts of fuel consumption. Dewulf and Taj broke conventions by pioneering a new technology to design an edgy, functional yet earth friendly piece.I enjoy the bright colors of Taj's work here. Well done, guys!Stan

      Self Leveling Concrete Beauty
Self leveling concrete is an amazing product. The beauty of self leverers is that you can control the height of your floor. They can also be stained and sealed. Mapei makes a self leveling product that can level smooth as glass with almost zero shrinkage. Other companies are working on similar products. During the past week I filmed the installation of Mapei self leveling concrete in a new restaurant. It was the only flooring solution that would work. One of the issues was that there was little thought about the floor until late in the project. This happens a lot. Flooring should be the first consideration in every project then design and build from there, not the other way around. All the moldings were already in and painted. Tile had been installed in the kitchen leaving a height issue w

Precast stone is distinguished from precast concrete by using a fine aggregate in the mixture so the final product approaches the appearance of naturally occurring rock or stone. Modern uses for Precast Concrete technology include a variety of architectural applications including free-standing walls used for landscaping, soundproofing and security walls.Precast architectural panels are also used to clad all or part of a building facade. Storm water drainage, water and sewage pipes and tunnels make use of precast concrete units. To accompany the show Concrete Hermit also produced two brand new shirts designed by the artist himself. The new designs, "A.B. Mouth" and "A.B. Arrow", are limited edition of 100 shirts each and come in a hand stenciled numbered box. I kind of liked the "A.B. Mouth" more...If you live in London and you're interested in the show, it runs until Nov 25th and the gallery address is 5a Club Row, London, E1 6JX, UK.

Four New T-shirts by Concrete Hermit
I got a newsletter from Concrete Hermit about their new t-shirt designs and I'm loving them! Three of them are in the artists series and are the ones I liked the most. The three artists behind the new designs are Dan Has Potential with "Onion Head", JuJu's Delivery with "Pow Pow", and Will Ainley with "Teenage Rock Monster", which is my personal pick (after strong debate). Even though I don't agree that the Teenage Rock Monster inside us all looks like that, I have to admit it's a funny and very cool Rock Monster! Hehehe...

It's a concrete jungle out there...
The latest phase of home building along Dunwoody Way, this plot seen from the corner of Richard Moon Street and Goddard Street. I'm sure that The Railwayman will correct me if wrong, but wasn't this where the original "arch" entrance to Crewe Works once stood? It's a strange sight at the moment, with hundreds of concrete posts driven into the ground by a monster machine that was seen thumping away last week. I assume the area will be flooded with concrete and these act as additional stability for the foundations. Any engineers out there?
