A company called Netblender is working on new technology that will allow enhanced communication between Blu-ray players and Apple handheld devices such as the iPhone. Dubbed BD Touch, this new tech will turn an iPhone into a remote control for Blu-ray players. More interestingly, it will allow the device to interact directly with BD movies by: displaying extra movie info on the iPhone, maintain a database of your movie collection, and obtain digital copies of movies on a Blu-ray disc. This last feature sounds quite similar to Sony's very own portable copy. This makes us wonder if the new tech will be integrated into the PS3 or if it will only hit other Blu-ray players. Let’s set the stage. Harmonix and Activision used to be best buds when they released Guitar Hero 1 and 2.  Then something happened and they were no longer friends.   They went their seperate ways. Activision moves forward with Guitar Hero III. Harmonix decides to take the Guitar Hero experience to the next level by adding a microphone, drums, along with the ability to have a lead and rhythm/bass guitars with Rock Band. However, Harmonix is only selling Rock Band with one guitar, one microphone, and one drum kit along with the game.  They aren’t selling the intrument controllers seperately yet.   You can’t play the 4 player mode w/o a 2nd guitar. The audience for both games is the same - and many of the PS3 owners already purchased Guitar Hero III and have a 2nd guitar.  You would think that this guitar controller would work with Rock Band.   Not so. After successful installation of WP-Cache, I’ve encountered another problem, that’s the compatiblity issues between Spam Karma 2 (SK2) and WP-Cache. This issues led me to Priv’s SK2-WP-Cache-Compatibility plugin which sucessfully fixed the case of the missing comments. When you use Spam Karma 2 with WP-Cache, cached files are not flushed after a successfully comment approval. That’s basically because SK2 intercepts some actions, WP-Cache will not get notified. Priv had created a small plugin for SK2, that will directly call wp-cache to flush cache, after a comment is approved. Download this zip, extract and drop the php into sk2_plugins directory, it should just work. So far so good, this problem is solved, but here comes another one, if you want SK2 and WP-Cache work together, even after installing the plugin above. On Tuesday 22 May we'll be publishing via Windows Update the final version of a compatibility update for Windows Vista to support new 8GB and larger Secure Digital (SD) cards.  Customers using this type of card for ReadyBoost or other purposes can receive this update via the usual automatic Windows Update method.  It will allow for full functionality of these newer SD cards on Windows Vista, and also improves support for SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) and SDIO (Secure Digital Input-Output) cards.
