I believe so.Let's focus on oil for the time being. Yes, the supply of oil is very limited, as the production of crude oil is likely to come to the peak level (peak oil). My good friend following oil drilling equipment companies told me, half of the oil buried underground will never be able to drilled out. So why the production is likely to come to the peak? By: Daniel John Trade finance is the method importers and exporters of commodities and goods use to finance their business. Basically, trade finance has been in existence for many thousands of years - and one can trace the roots of trade finance and structured trade finance right back to the early days of China and the silk route, Mesopotamia and Europe. Trade Finance was around long before Europe

There's been more talk recently about the commodities 'bubble' bursting. This chart (DBC - commodity ETF) would suggest there might be a leak in the bubble but the rounded top doesn't suggest that any bursting is going on. This is a chart of DBC and it's components can be seen below.Year-to-date, DBC has done well bouncing off of its 50 day moving average, which may present a good entry point - needless to say it's back down near it's 50 day MA. If you use moving average as an entry point make sure to place a stop under said MA. If this level is breached (your reason for entering the trade) then you should exit the trade immediately. Keep in mind that this is primarily a commentary on the chart - there are a lot of fundamentals that need to be considered. A large portion of DBC is mad

One of the sectors that is making waves in 2008 is the Agricultural Commodities. Emerging markets are booming and so are their consumption. With growth comes a change in lifestyle, diet being an important part of it. The rising middle-class in these emerging markets especially China and India are now calling for both higher quantities and a better quality of food. With industrialization and urban sprawl taking over, Chinese and Indian farmers are continually asked to produce more crops from shrinking amounts of land. They also have fewer farm workers as many have left villages to seek their fortune in more established cities. If you add environmental pressures to the mix, you've got an agricultural situation that's even more challenging. It's estimated that one out of every three dollars ea
Commodities, which have been some of the most profitable investments of the past 18 months, tumbled yesterday (Thursday). Oil and gold were just a few of the raw materials whose prices plummeted on speculation that demand will slacken and the dollar will rebound in coming months. Crude oil fell below $100 a barrel for the first time in two weeks yesterday, extending heavy losses sustained in the previous session. Oil hit a record high $111.80 a barrel Monday, but dropped nearly $5 on Wednesday. A report from the energy department, which indicated demand for oil may be waning amid a global economic downturn, was at least partly responsible for the decline. We’ve spend some time lately talking about commodities. Anyone who trades futures on the commodity markets ought to know a considerable amount about what they’re trading. But commodities are not futures.
Commodities are a class of assets that includes energy, metals, agricultural products, natural gas and oil, and other natural resources. Commodities are natural resources, actual physical objects with an inherent value of their own.
Futures are investment vehicles through which you invest in commodities. Futures can also be used to invest in other asset classes such as currencies, bonds, interest rates, stocks, indexes, etc. Futures have no value in and of themselves. They are known as derivatives because they derive (or take) their value from the underlying financial instrument (i.e., the commodity, currency, stock, etc.)

Most of us are quite comfortable with investing in cash deposits, government bonds, and stocks for conservative risk-averse investors. We hear these products discussed widely in the financial media. But rarely do we hear commodities discussed as an investment alternative. After all, what do commodities have to offer that stocks haven’t already provided?
Here are reasons why commodities can be a good investment:
- By diversifying your portfolio, the risk can be reduced, especially during recessionary periods such as bear markets where stocks tend to decline and lose value. Commodities tend to rise and this would counter the loss of portfolio value.
- Commodities trend better than stocks, not only on individual or also stock sectors and stock indexes. As such they are a better long-term investment vehicle. Trends tend to last short term such as a few months to a few years. When the trend begins, it is very unlikely there will be sharp reversals or unpleasant surprise.

No surprise here. Late Monday night the Financial Times (UK) reported:
State-owned sovereign wealth funds are beginning to diversify their investments into commodities, potentially having a significant impact on international raw material prices because of their immense resources.
Sovereign wealth funds, or SWFs, are investment vehicles backed by governments in the Middle East, China, Russia, and elsewhere. According to The Times (UK) from October 28:
Sovereign funds have been around since 1953, when the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) was established to benefit future generations of Kuwaitis when the oil stopped flowing. But it is only since the turn of the millennium that the power of sovereign funds has mushroomed. The rising price of oil and gas has prompted Middle East countries to look for new ways to invest their piles of cash. Russia has money to spare as energy prices have soared. At the same time, funds in Singapore, and more particularly China, have been boosted by income

Today the price of crude oil rose above $86 a barrel (see graph below). Other commodities that have gone up in value, such as gold and soybeans, have demonstrated that good investors need to look beyond plain old stocks and mutual funds.Experts recommend commodities as a way to diversify your portfolio, especially as they continue to advance when stocks are struggling, and suggest that you allocate at least five percent of your investment funds to gold and other commodities. Prudent investors will own both the physical commodity (e.g. actual gold bars) as well as shares of the resource producers. Commodity trading is one of the fastest growing sectors of the financial markets, and for good reason - in 2006, commodity prices have gone through the roof. If you haven’t heard anything about the prices of pork bellies or orange juice skyrocketing, that’s because there is much more to commodity trading than just these two items.
Corn, oats, soybeans, wheat, soy meal, bean oil, cattle, coffee, sugar, cotton, steel, copper, silver, gold, platinum, natural gas, crude oil, and gasoline are just a few of the dozens of commodity trading options. Metals - steel and gold, in particular - and petroleum-related products, have seen major price movements in the past year.

ChannelPro Magazine is for distributors and value-added resellers (VARs) of technology, OEM parts, etc. They interviewed me about the important of brand-building in their industry.
Like other brokers of commodities, VARs must focus on their expertise-based brand. Check out my comments and the full story at: ChannelProOnline.com
Since your product is similar, if not the same, as everybody else’s… you need to build your personal brand reputation - and live up to it - in order to command premium margins. If you’re a value-added professional, focus on the distinctive value.
Unfortunately, we tend to rely too much on the spec sheet. Change your mind, change your brand, change their minds. Grow from broker to expert.
Financial spread betting companies provide investors an opportunity to deal in the financial markets without actually owning the instrument in question. That is to say, an investor or trader can speculate on many financial instruments such shares, commodities, forex and indices without having to own the shares, currency etc.
Financial spread betting is increasing in popularity. One reason for this is the absence of taxation!*. There is no capital gains tax on profits and no stamp duty on transactions. However, when a spread trade goes wrong then you can lose more than your original investment. Any losses incurred through a financial spread bet cannot be used against any capital gains that are made on ordinary investments.
Spread bet on commodities / spread trading on commodities depends on variety of factors. If trading on “softs” such as corn or wheat then large influences can be low yielding harvests / bad weather.

An unhealthy amount of froth remains in a favorite asset of mine–gold. I have been highlighting structural problems with the United States and the global [...]
The explosion of brokerage firms on the Internet leads to an ever increasing competition among them ; one of the ways to have a better offer than the competitors is offering more markets to the trader , broadening his trading horizons from the narrowness of random forex; and since we're talking about MetaTrader, the most easy to automate and yet free platform of this kind, this is done by non-NFA regulated brokers, since NFA forbids the implementation of other contracts as CFDs (futures , stocks and bonds can't be implemented on MetaTrader the way they are). Ultimately, this is what traders wanted from the beginning: a single automated platform usable for trading many markets , in order to deploy logical and profitable strategies, not only indicator-hunting strategies... Perhaps NFA has its reasons for banning CFDs, however, if technical solutions are not found to this problem, US brokers will be effectively wiped out by the competition abroad on the retail segment where MetaTrader

Are we sending our people as modern day heroes or as commodities in human trafficking of slaves? In our 21st century world, where access to information is just a click away we still see a vestige of the ugly human trafficking slave trade of the past still haunting us like a recurring nightmare. Unfortunately this phenomenon is real and happening in most developed countries of the world with the
