New Internet goes to space, comes back to Earth
The interplanetary network that Vint Cerf envisioned years ago got its first real test recently. The EPOXIspacecraft, which carried the Deep Impact probe to Comet Talent 1 in 2005, had its software reconfigured after delivering the payload to work as a test bed for NASA’s new Disruption-Tolerant Networking protocol. As the craft dropped back toward [...]

Premature Baby Comes Back to Life after Five Hours in Freezer
A premature 610-gram baby comes back to life after it was pronounced dead and was put into a freezer for five hours. Premature infants of this weight and age have only 10 percent survival. The father, Ali Majdub, told Channel 2 that his wife realized the child was alive after asking to see her dead daughter one last time."When we unwrapped the baby to see her, she realized it was moving. I began sc

"If It Comes Back, It's Yours..."
Darren loves the Boomerang Channel. Sarah loves the Boomerang Channel. Daddy and I do, too. When ever-so-kindly asked by the marvelous mama of Best Family Diaries to contribute a guest post, the inspiration was right there on the screen. Please go over and read the perhaps controversial (TV-centric) post, and make a point to make a comment, dive in and check out her blog...it's wonderful! (*Thanks

14 Year Veteran Comes Back To Father 6 Children, One Turns Out to Be the Local Drug Dealer
14 Year Veteran Comes Back To Father 6 Children, One Turns Out to Be the Local Drug Dealer - We are all told to respect those who have served in our military and I certainly know that I do and have my entire life. Coming from a family who has served this county well, I understand the importance of a strong military to protect all we are and all we have built. However, there are some things that ma

What you put out comes back to you thrice
Aiki with KelTegatana playing with the idea of grouping 2-3 movements as one thing in your mind. The kata changes in meaningful ways when you change the groupings. We also played with the idea of otoshi-guruma and back hand as the do-er instead of the front hand.Hanasu #1-8Aiki evasion and brushoff working into release-synch-ping-brushoff and release-synch-ping-tenkan The tenkan was remarkable. We were getting some of that feel of the wind of uke's passing blowing tori out of the way. That real kokyu feeling. The first two standing techniques of Ichikata as the cool ninja techniques of the night. release #1 to oshitaoshi and release #1 to tenkai oshitaoshi. All of this stuff tonight provided good practice in the idea that if tori puts out energy and uke doesn't eat it then tori has to

This isn’t a bottom until consumer sentiment comes back up.
Please, let’s go back to some basics. Consumer spending is nearly 70% of the US economy. Spending on housing is a huge chunk of that. Virtually all of the spending since 9/11 has been debt driven. The average consumer is hunkering down right now, barely able to pay the bills they have and fill the [...]

The old comes back to life!
This is the beginning of a piece of work that was about 20,000 words long and unfinished. It was a NaNoWriMo story that written, probably during the year of 2006. I found a printed copy and read through it today and I have realized that the only part of it worth keeping was the first 200-300 words. Everything else was full of plot holes and made little sense. Anyway, here's the part I liked, the beginning. I plan to build on this. I think I can make it into something worthwhile. I suppose I was going way too fast. I had left on a quick impulse and was swerving back and forth on an empty road, ignoring the forty-five mile-per-hour speed limit, but I didn’t care. I sped by the scenery on the side of the highway, ignoring everything in my life I was leaving behind. I didn’t

Red Ring’d 360? Send it to Microsoft, it comes back “Brand New”
Kotaku had a sit down with Aaron Greenberg regarding many interesting things I’m sure, however, they decided to just post a blip of what was said. An interesting blip none the less, on the topic of the 360 quality issues: “We have made all the improvements in our manufacturing process… All the consoles on the market have those improvements…. [We will] repair the console sent to us with these improvements. It should be similar to buying a new console off the shelf.” Now, I am on my second console, so far, it has red ringed on me once, however never again (still, I don’t care as much as I should, I called Microsoft and am getting another new one, included with a free game which they actually already shipped me, but still haven’t received a coffin for it). Sadly, I have faith that what he speaks is true. I mean, if the trend of returned 360’s being returned and returned again went on, even the mighty Microsoft could fall. Once the gen

Startup Schwag comes back to town
One of the best things about web 1.0 was all the Schwag that you could get just about anywhere. That is what made geekdom and fan boy fan girls rock all over the place, the number of t-shirts proudly proclaiming everything from pet food suppliers to people who deliver your groceries. There was one attempt with Valley Schwag to do the same thing, but it died a quiet death as they could not scale. Too many people wanted the stuff, but the resources were limited, it costs to get this stuff, and the bigger the demand, the more outlay for startups that might want the exposure but do not have the money to print it all. Now comes startup Schwag, and it is about time people. That is one thing that Web 2.0 has been missing sorely on, the walking billboards that are people, t-shirts, and the wearability of the logos. We here at techwag will feel like we are in more of a revolution if we get some more schwag in our pockets. Startup Schwag won’t be looking to startups to send them stuff to p

      Second Life Comes Back
Google’s Mission statement is: to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. That sounds awesome. They aspire to organize everything and make sure anyone can use it. That almost sounds like a divine mission. Second Life, a virtual world of coolness (and frustration) seems to be doing a little bit of that with art. Being that a lot of people don’t have the cash to fly to expensive art galleries.

Old Windows kernel flaw comes back to bite
On October 22, 2004, Argentine hacker Cesar Cerrudo approached Microsoft with the discovery of a Windows Kernel GDI local privilege escalation vulnerability. At the time, Cerrudo said Redmond’s security response team deemed it a “design problem” and filed it away as something “to be fixed in a future service pack.” Late last year, [...]
