So to say Eisley's Combinations is the sort of record that could come from any spot on the rock'n'roll timeline is a little misleading. For what it's worth, the Dupree clan -- singer/guitarist Sherri, singer/keyboardist Stacy, guitarist Chauntelle, bassist Garron and drummer Weston -- seems to have moved beyond petty notions of fitting in with trends or sucking up to the trend-hating hip crowd. The band's sophomore effort turns its concerns on songwriting rather than navigating the minefield of credibility issues and trend setting/avoidance. The previous post on Tyler’s own Eisley had two demos in it in which I forgot to mention as demos. Both have since been removed but the lead single Invasion still remains there. Eisley is good at what they do and what they do is good. If I had one major complaint, it’s that it clocks in at under 40 minutes (no song reaches 4 minutes) making it one hell of a short LP.
Things kick off with Many Funerals. The DuPrees can harmonize like it’s nobody’s business and the song is what you’d expect from them but the chorus doesn’t work for me. Invasion is next and it’s the perfect choice for the lead single. Taking Control is my favorite song on the album. It found a way to bury itself in my head and I feel myself humming the tune when I’m not even listening to it. Go Away (incredibly repetitive) and I Could be There for You are filler tracks but Come Clean has a certain charm to it and the chorus is sung beautifully. Ten Cent Blues and A Sight

Deckie Joe displays a wahoo’s unusual ability to hinge both its upper and lower jaws For us here on Kadavu Island, May to October is wahoo & sailfish season. Packs of wahoo congregate along the Great Astrolabe Barrier Reef and year round, we find Spanish mackerel. The average size of wahoo here is about 50lbs with a really good fish weighing in at 90 to 100lbs. The mackerel are common to20lbs but can reach 70lbs. The trick here is to first find the wahoo packs by trolling a spread of lures. The wahoo packs are usually on one side of a reef point or the other, depending on the current direction. Normally the up-current side on the drop-off where the depth is about 250ft. Once a pack is found, we then usually switch to 2 outfits on light tackle, rigged with garfish (Ballyhoo). We troll one skip bait and one swimming bait. This prevents the expensive problem of getting mauled by a pack, having 5 rods go off with associated chaos on deck and loosing almost everything you have in the wat
