There seems to be something slightly sinister about using sex, the basis of life, to sell coffins, the most unwanted purchase of a lifetime. I wonder if cremation firms and urn manufacturers will start producing calendars with models holding strategically placed urns?

As the story goes Emma Crawford was buried at the top of a mountain. It rained and her remains were washed down the side of the mountain. To commemorate this the town of Manitou Springs, CO holds an annual coffin race. I love this idea. Build a coffin. Put it on wheels. Race it. I want to build an old toe pincher and race it. I missed the event this year and I don’t think I will make to to Colorado for the event next year. Maybe I can start a local chapter here.

Archaeologists are examining an ancient wooden coffin lid bearing a carved woman-like figure, hoping to find some link to a funeral culture thought to be uncommon in Southeast Asia. The coffin cover is 166cm long and about 30cm wide. It is made of teak and thought to be about 1,000 years old.
It is believed to be part of an elegant funeral ceremony of a long-vanished tribe, scholars from Chiang Mai University say.
