      In the last fifty years or so, one of the many phenomena that have risen is the perception of a vintage car as a piece of art. Thus, instead of being valued as well as pursued only by those who have an abiding fondness for cars, or affording cheap racing kicks for those who do not have the millions to spare for a car that is more modern in its features, prices for these older cars began to climb at a quick rate. As one can expect, the trend was led by cars that carried the names Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. These cars rose in value quite faster than all the others and thus, were constant record breakers in several auctions. This started the trend of classic cars as delectable collector’s items. (more…)

      Dozen Cool Classic Cars: 2007 Los Angeles Concours d'Elegance
      "What? This show can't just be a sophomore. It's way too good for that."We heard this comment several times, cruising the fields of Brookside Country Club, which sprawls just to the north of the famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena. And it's a true statement: this event has come along way in just 12 months, displaying organization, support, and polish far beyond automotive gatherings that have been around a lot longer. Most importantly, the cars on display were awesome, and the show benefits a worthy cause, the Assistance League of Southern California (assistanceleague.net).The field was larger than last year's, but the grounds are so spacious that there was no crowding. There were several special classes this year, including woodies, sprint/midget cars, and go-karts. Beyond that, it was a well-mixed something-for-everyone: brass era cars, great American convertibles, and several classes for Jaguars, Porsches, Ferraris, muscle, and the like.
